"Don't be nervous, ight? You got me."
I smiled at him and we started walking to the house where the party was at. We walked in the party and I immediately caught the smell of weed.
"Wassup Myles? Glad you could make it," Demetrius said as he dapped him up.
He turned towards me and looked me up and down with lust.
"What's your name shawty?"
"Uhm, Kharter," I managed to stammer out. He was making me so uncomfortable, looking at me like I was piece of meat.
"Don't be shy, ma. I ain't gon' bite unless you want me to," he said as he licked his lips. I aint gone lie, he was cute. He's just not my type.
"Chill with all that man, Kharter ain't like that," Myles reassured him.
Demetrius took one more glance at me.
"Yall have fun now, I'll be seeing you later," he said as he smirked at me.
He walked off and Myles looked at me.
"I'm finna get me something to drink, you want something?"
"Yeah, I'll take a water please."
He walked off somewhere and I stayed on the wall, just nodding my head to the music. Five minutes passed by and Myles was nowhere to be found. After what seemed like forever, I decided to head towards the kitchen myself. I walked in and seen Myles tounging some girl down. I rolled my eyes and decided to get me some alcohol instead of water. Maybe I just need to loosen up. Myles having fun, why can't I? I walked to back where I was before and stood on the wall.
"Wassup ma," I turned and it was Demetrius once again.
"Hey," I said sheepishly as I tucked my hair behind my ear.
"Why you standing over here by yourself?"
"Myles seems a little caught up with someone."
"Yeah, I saw ol' boy tounging some girl down.
"Yeah, I'm just ready to go honestly."
"I can take you home, I promise you I'm still sober."
"Uhm, I don't think-
"Come on Kharter, you can trust me."
Present Day
"Kharter? Is that you girl?"
I turned head and was greeted by my cousin, Leia.
"Oh my god, Leia!"
I ran towards her and we pulled each other in for a tight hug.
"Oh my god, it's been ages!"
"I know girl, we have so much to catch up."
"Bae, you want me to bring your purse in?"
I turned my head and seen some mysterious guy.
"Uhm, Leia. Who is that?"
He walked towards us and he was handsome.
"Oh Kharter, I want you to meet my boyfriend, Khalil."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Leia has told me so much about you," he said as he shook my hand.
"You too," I said as I shook his hand back.
"Well, I'll leave you two ladies to yourselves. See you when you come in," he said before he kissed her forehead and walked inside.
"Girl, why you ain't tell me you dating Denzel? Where you meet him at?"
"Long story girl, long story."
"Where's Lexi?"
"You know her narrow behind coming. She had to go take Mama somewhere," she chuckled.
"Oh, how I missed yall."
"Why you outside anyways?"
"Myles here."
"Myles? As in Myles Anderson?"
I nodded my head and she turned her lip at me. Lexi and I were close, but not as close Leia and I. Leia and Tatiana are the only ones that know about that night.
"Wait, why is Myles here?"
"He's engaged to Dominique."
"I can't believe someone like Dominique is engaged."
"Oh, come on Leia. Don't start."
"Come on, Kharter. You know it's true, Dominique is a ho. She don't care about nobody but herself."
"Well, you never know. People change."
"Kharter, I feel like you too nice sometimes."
"I just believe everyone has a ounce of good in them."
"If you say so, come on. Let's go inside before Auntie have a cow."
"Alright."
"Kharter, you going to be okay with him being here?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
She pulled me into a hug and we headed inside after we broke our hug. Everyone's eyes were on us as we sat down in the living room. The night went smoothly and I'm glad I got to see all my family. Eventually everyone left and it was just me, my mother, Dominique, and Myles. I walked outside to put some plates in my mom's car.
Myles
"Myles, can you take this trash out for me?" Miss. Diane asked.
"Yes ma'm," I said as I grabbed the trash bag.
"You're so sweet," she said as she patted my back.
I walked outside with the garbage bag and I seen someone putting something in Miss.Diane's car. I put the trash bag in the green thing at the top of the driveway and the person was Kharter. She looked at me and rolled her eyes.
"Kharter, wait!"
I ran up to catch up with her and she turned to me.
"What the hell do you want Myles?"
"Look, Kharter. I'm sorry-"
"Myles, trust me I heard enough sorrys."
"Well, how you been?"
"Fine."
"Uhm, how's New York?"
"Myles, don't stand here and act all friendly. I-"
"Kharter, I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you and-"
"YOU WASN'T THERE MYLES WHEN I NEEDED YOU! I SCREAMED FOR YOUR NAME AND YOU DIDN'T COME!"

"Come on, you gotta let me go. I have to check on my friend," I told Erica as she kept trying to kiss me.
"Don't be gone too long," she smirked.
I walked back to the living room and I couldn't find Kharter anywhere. I walked up to my homeboy Terry.
"Aye, you seen Kharter?"
"Yeah, she left with Demetrius."
"Demetrius? What she doing with Demetrius?"
"I don't know, I think he going tap that."
"What? Do you know where they might've went?"
"Bruh, calm down. She just walked out with him, so it's not like she didn't wanna go with him."
"But, I-"
"Myles, she's fine. She's a big girl, she can take of herself."
Kharter
"Get off of me, Demetrius!"
"Shut up! You're going to take this and you definitely going to let my homeboys get some of this too."
"No, get off of me!"
I was silenced by a slap in my face.
"Scream again and I won't hesitate to kill you."
My eyes widened in fear and he continued to unzip my shorts.
