Black Magic - Camila the Teenage Witch

17.3K 377 133
By kcxbello

SUMMARY: In witch (pun intended) sixteen-year-old witch, Camila, conjures up a love potion with the help of her aunt Hilda, and none from Dinah, to make Lauren, Softball Star, fall in love with her.

"Dinah, just look at her!" Camila wailed to her best friend, leaning back against her metal locker. Her lips were in a full pout as she stared across the hall at the object of her affection, Lauren Jauregui, captain of the softball team, debate team and their school's best singer. Also; Camila's current (from the time when she was thirteen) love interest.

Dinah glanced in the direction the small brunette was gazing at and chuckled to herself as she set her eyes on the black haired goddess, dressed in her usual black jeans, white t-shirt and leather jacket, laughing with her own friends.

"Damn Chanch, she ain't that great."

A red tint covered Camila's cheeks, she huffed in anger, pushing herself off metal and tearing her eyes off her crush, glaring at her tall friend. "You take that back, Dinah Jane! She is that great, and more!"

Dinah grinned at the frenzied brunette, snorting to herself. "If she's 'so great and more', go talk to her and ask her out."

Camila's face fell and she sighed to herself, turning back to look at the emerald eyed girl, her own eyes longing for her attention. "There's no point. She barely knows that I exist; I doubt she'll have romantic feelings for me."

The tall Polynesian nodded in agreement, leaning against the locker next to her open one. "Too bad you can't brew a love potion and have her drink it," she joked, however regretted it instantly when the older girls' eyes ignited up in anticipation. "Mila."

Camila merely grinned at Dinah, her eyes sparkling in excitement. "That's brilliant, Cheech! Oh my God, I don't know why I didn't think about it before!"

Unlike most teenagers her age, when Camila turned sixteen, instead of a car like the rest of her peers, she was gifted with magical powers, and later found out she came from a long line of witches. Different from her two aunts (whom she and her sister lived with) and younger eight-year-old half-sister (they shared a father, who was a witch himself, but not a mother), she was only half a witch. Not that she minded.

Dinah Jane Hansen was one of, if not the only of her friends, who knew about her magical background.

With a new bounce in her step, Camila pulled her backpack from her locker and bounded down the hall for the exit, shouting another 'thank you' to her best friend over her shoulder.

Dinah groaned, realizing what she had just done. "Aw, crap! Why can't I learn to keep my fabulous mouth shut?" she pouted at her reflection in the mirror that hung on the inside of her locker door. Sighing, she shut it and attempted to catch up with the small but energetic witch.

--

"Aunt Hilda, Aunt Zelda, I'm home!" Camila called out to her two guardians, stopping in the foyer of the Cabello household in disbelief with Dinah once she saw the mess of hundreds of toads leaping about the house. "Whoa, what happened here?"

Her aunt Zelda appeared from inside the living room with a huff, shaking her head. "Your Aunt Hilda tried to help Sofi with her magic; it did not go well." She waved her hand and they subtracted to five toads instead of five hundred. Sofi, being a full witch, got her powers at age eight instead of sixteen, a full eight years ahead of her older sister.

Sofia pouted at the subtraction spell and sighed, picking up two of the five and placing them in their tank.

Zelda smiled at her older niece as she ran a hand through Sofi's hair. "Now. How was school, sweetheart?"

Camila shrugged and weaved her way through the living room, dropping her backpack onto the couch. "Same old. Where's the spell book? I need to make a potion."

Hilda's head darted up from behind one of the arm chairs, where she was looking for the third toad, her face taking on a big grin. "Ooh, what kind? Revenge, sleep? Or, my personal favorite, to turn someone into a fruit?"

Dinah and Sofi sniggered at her suggestions, as Camila thumbed through their bookcase for the age old spell book, humming as she answered her aunt. "Nope, a love potion."

Hilda gathered the other three toads and disposed of them in their tank before going to help Camila, her eyes sparkling in excitement. "Ooh, who's the lucky boy?"

"Its actually a girl," Dinah answered for her friend with a smirk, putting her own bag down next to Camila's while the former blushed.

"Dinah!" Camila exclaimed in exasperation, her aunts sharing an amused look.

"Even better." Hilda nodded, winking at her sister and grinning at Camila. "Less facial hair to worry about when you kiss. Who's the lucky girl?"

Camila sighed, carrying the heavy book to the dining room table and setting it down. "Her name is Lauren Jauregui. She's cap-"

"-tain of the softball team, debate team, the best singer at our school and she's a grade above me." Dinah echoed with a roll of her eyes, having memorized it by now. She received a stuck out tongue from Camila and retaliated with one of her own.

Zelda followed the three into the dining room and sat at the table, watching with a smile. "Oh, we met her last year at that pep rally, hadn't we?" She turned to her sister for confirmation, getting a nod in response.

"She's a nice girl, and really talented judging by the song she sang." Hilda added, taking a seat across from her niece.

Camila smiled, happy with the approval she was receiving about her crush.

"Aunt Zelda - I did it again! The frogs are everywhere!" Sofi cried from her bedroom, causing her older aunt to sigh and stand up.

"I'm coming sweetheart!" Zelda turned to Hilda and gave her a stern gaze. "Help Camila with the potion, and warn her about the side effects."

Hilda nodded, giving her older sister a thumbs up. "Got it, Zeldie."

Zelda smiled at her niece and gave her a kiss on the cheek on her way out. "Good luck sweetie. And don't forget, be careful, Black Magic can be extremely dangerous."

"Aunt Zelda!"

"I'm coming Sofi, I'm coming!"

--

The next morning, Camila happily strolled the halls of Hillridge High with a bottle filled with the potion she conjured up last night towards the object of her affection. Dinah walked behind her hesitantly, grimacing at the pink liquid disguised as an energy drink. "I hope this works for you, Mila."

Camila stopped speed walking long enough for her best friend to catch up, smiling at the tall blonde. "It will, CheeChee. Don't worry. Aunt Hilda helped me. It's got to work." She hummed and continued her way to Lauren's locker, eyes brightening when landing on the raven haired girl. "Here we go. Act cool." She notified the Tongan, smiling at her crush as she came to a stop in front of her.

"Hi Lauren."

Lauren turned away from her friends, Ally and Normani, and smiled at the younger girl.

"Hi Camila."

She nodded at Dinah and smiled at her as well, getting a polite smile in return. "Hey Dinah."

Camila turned her gaze onto the two girls behind Lauren and politely waved. "Hi Ally, hi Normani."

The two smiled and waved back. "Hey Camila."

Lauren's gaze was directed to the clear sports bottle in Camila's hand, smiling with a quirk of her eyebrow. "What's that?"

When a few seconds of silence engulfed the small group, Dinah realized that her friend was too busy staring dreamily at the older girl to realize she had been spoken to, and gave her a harsh shove, bringing her back to reality.

"Huh? Oh!" Camila blushed deeply as Lauren let out an adorable giggle. "Well, the championship game is tonight, so I thought I'd bring the captain my family's famous energy drink to really pep you up! It's strawberry-mango, your favorite."

Lauren gave the girl a grateful grin, accepting the drink happily and with a big hug, making Camila essentially swoon in her arms. "Thanks, Camz. I really appreciate this." She gave her one last squeeze and let go of her, snapping the top open and taking a swig of the potion.

Camila and Dinah stared at her expectantly, waiting on her to do something. What, they didn't know exactly. Camila was secretly hoping for a kiss but she knew that was a bit far fetched.

Noticing the two girls staring at her, Lauren's thick eyebrows raised in confusion. "What?"

Both girls blushed as they snapped out of it, shaking their heads. "Hum, nothing." Camila coughed, biting her lip. "Do you like it?"

The green eyed girl nodded with a smile. "Yeah, it's pretty good." The bell rang, signaling the start of first period. Lauren shut her locker and shot the girl another smile. "Thanks again Camz."

Camila smiled meekly at her, waving faintly. "No problem. See you in English." She watched Lauren's retreating back dejectedly, pouting to herself.

Dinah peeked down at her friend and smiled comfortingly. "Hey, don't worry. It probably takes a few hours to kick in. I'm sure by the end of the day she'll be all over you like a lovesick puppy."

Camila sighed, nodding softly. "I hope so."

--

"I can't believe it didn't work!" Camila whined as she and Dinah entered her house after school. She threw her backpack down on the couch as the day before, stomping to the bookcase and heaving the spell book out, hauling it to the dining room table with a huff. "I watched her all day long, she barely even looked at me!"

Dinah frowned at her disheartened friend, watching as she flipped to the page of the potion recipe, reading it. "Well, she barely drank half of it, Mila. She's probably saving the rest for the game tonight. Maybe that's why it didn't work." She reassured, as Hilda and Zelda came in from the kitchen, hearing the commotion.

Camila scoffed, harshly pointing to a paragraph on the page in front of her. "It says one drop should be enough, she took at least twenty sips and didn't treat me any differently! One taste and she's supposed to be mine!"

Zelda frowned, watching as Camila's eyes moved back and forth across the page trying to find an explanation as to why the potion didn't work. "It didn't work?"

Dinah sighed, shaking her head. "Nope."

Pausing, Zelda slowly turned to Hilda, who was attempting to escape the room before her sister realized her mistake. "Hilda – you didn't tell her, did you?" she asked sternly, crossing her arms across her chest.

Hilda cursed herself for being too slow, sluggishly turning around with a guilty look across her face. "No. I forgot. But hey, no harm, no foul, right?"

"Tell me what?" Camila frowned, looking at both her aunts as Zelda rolled her eyes and sighed, looking at the sixteen-year-old.

"That the potion doesn't work if the person you're giving it to is already in love."

Camila's face fell, along with her heart, and she slowly fell into one of the dining room tables' chairs. "Oh." She murmured, fighting back tears. "I... actually thought I had a chance." She sniffled, reaching a hand up and wiping away a tear that fell.

Dinah felt her own emotions begin to take a turn for the worst at the sight of her friend being so heart broken. She stepped closer to her and collected the smaller girl into a tight hug, murmuring reassuring words into her ear softly.

--

Unknown in what way to Camila, Dinah had managed to drag her to the softball game that night anyways, even having her wear Lauren's jersey number, 27, on her shirt. The younger of the two pulled her to their seats on the bleachers, in the middle row. Her arms were stacked up with two of everything they could get at the snack stand. Hot dogs, chips, sodas, peanuts, pretty much everything you could think of. All to cheer up the petite witch.

"C'mon now Mila," Dinah mumbled, her mouth full of one of the hot dogs. "I know you're bummed about Lauser but y'gotta cheer on our school." She swallowed and offered one of the dogs to Camila, who politely accepted it, with no intention of actually eating it.

Before Camila could reply to the Tongan, she heard her name being yelled from the field. Looking for the source, her eyes landed on the cause of her heartache; Lauren Jauregui. Who just so happened to be calling her name as she ran to the fence that separated the players from the bleachers; looking adorable in her uniform with her hair up in a high ponytail and her green eyes shining cheerfully.

The two friends exchanged surprised looks and Camila stood, handing Dinah back the hotdog before descending the bleachers and walking over to a smiling Lauren by the fence. "Hi Lauren." She greeted softly, smiling graciously. "Is this about that energy drink? 'Cause really, its no big deal."

"No, no, its not that its just..." Lauren beamed at her, her fingers curling into the small holes in the wires of the fence. "...You came."

Camila kept smiling, yet her mind was confused. Of course she came, why wouldn't she? "Yeah... I mean, why wouldn't I? Championship game and all. Plus, we're friends, right?" Her voice trailed off towards the end, shrugging softly.

Lauren bit her lip, nodding slowly. "Yeah, uhm, about that. Yknow, the whole 'friends' thing. I was thinking..."

The younger of the two watched as Lauren seemed to struggle with what she was going to say. She seemed nervous. But why would she be? Unless...

Camila's eyes widened slightly. No. No way. She couldn't be about to do what Camila was thinking...

"...what if, we were, yknow... more than friends? I mean, we don't have to put a label on us or anything, but maybe, I was thinking, we could go grab something to eat after the game? Just... just me and you?" Lauren asked shyly, bashfully looking at Camila with hopeful eyes and a red tint on her cheeks.

The grin that took over Camila's face could have been seen from outer space. Her heart felt like bursting out of her chest. It took her a good minute to realize she hadn't said anything, judging by the look Lauren was giving her.

"Uhm, Camz?"

Camila blinked, blushing profusely, laughing softly. "Yeah, sure. I'd love to go get some dinner. And maybe, we could put a label on us." She shrugged, smiling shyly. "I mean, yknow, I'm already wearing your jersey, so..." She bit her lip, pulling her hair to her front and turning around so Lauren could see her number and name on the back of her shirt.

She turned back around a few seconds later and was met with a grinning Lauren, shaking her head in amusement. Camila grinned bashfully, resting her fingers through the same holes Lauren had her own fingers in.

"Good thinking, Cabello." Lauren teased, leaning in through the fence and placing a kiss on her cheek. "I'll see you after the game." She promised, hearing her coach calling her name.

Camila smiled brightly, nodded happily. "I'll be right here, cheering you on." She bit her lip, holding back a grin as Lauren smiled and squeezed her fingers through the fence before turning and sprinting back over to her team.

Smiling shyly to herself, Camila made her way back to her seat, her fingers lingering over her cheek delicately.

Maybe the potion had worked.

Or, maybe she was the one Lauren was in love with and that's why it didn't work.

Oh well. Either way, she got the girl in the end.

What's up guys! This was loosely (very, very loosely,) inspired by Black Magic by Little Mix, and more inspired kind of by Sabrina the Teenage Witch :P you could probably tell by Aunt Zelda and Aunt Hilda, though. I hoped you liked it!
