The end of the week arrived and nothing had changed. Usagi was still cold towards me, while Asami was pretty much the same. It felt like they put up a wall all around them, and they are not letting anyone in.
I tried to talk to Asami since we were both part of the swim team. He acted normally and avoided talking about anything besides swimming. I asked him twice if everything was alright but he ignored it, as if he didn't even hear me. I thought to myself that I wanted to be his friend but if he didn't want my kindness--what is the point? I gave up and went on with my daily swim practice as usual.
Then, there was Usagi. I really wanted to talk to him. I wanted to sort things out with him. However, every time our eyes met, he looked away instantaneously. Yesterday, I gathered the courage to come up to him but I failed. When he was about to go for lunch, I grabbed his arm. He made an indifferent look that I hadn't seen before. I forgot what I wanted to say. He shook off my hand and left.

Now, here I am, trying to clean my room for Aki. I never had anyone in my room before since I generally didn't like people. I made shallow friendships in the past because I was thinking that if people found out what I truly was...they would come to hate me. I never let my guard down.
Come to think of it, Usagi was the very first person I let myself free. He found out about my predisposition and he stuck around. I even talked to him about my uke hunting endeavors.
Aki was the second person I felt comfortable with. He didn't exactly know my secret but...it turned out he liked boys too. His smiles and laughs made me happy. His positive energy was contagious. I envied him. How can he be so optimistic?

I'm not the tidiest person in this house. I usually leave my dirty clothes on my desk. When I have to study, I put it on my bed and then put it right back when I'm done. My mom keeps nagging me about cleaning my room. I have a busy life as a high school student, and I just have no time at all.
Well, that's a lie. It's just an excuse. I do have some free time after studying but I use it to read BL manga, nap and daydream about the uke characters.
I managed to clean my room...somehow...by shoving clutter into my closet--problem solved!
My room is now sparkly clean.
I patted my back for a job well done.
Oh, shoot! My BL manga...collection! I need to hide it.
I shoved a book shelf worth of BL manga to my closet.
I don't know if it is going to hold it in, but I don't have that much time left. Aki is coming over in less than thirty minutes and I haven't taken a shower yet. I feel sweaty and dirty after all the cleaning that I have done.
I hurried to the bath room and started taking a shower. My mind became so relaxed--and I lost track of time...
Few minutes had already passed...
Hideki: Haru, your visitor is here!
I heard loud footsteps heading to my bathroom. Ah...yea, I remembered. My mom stepped out to buy some groceries. Hideki was the only one downstairs.
Thank god.
Hideki: Haru...are you there?
Hideki knocked on the door.
Haru: Crap, Aki is here. I'm still in the shower! Tell him I'll be right over.
Hideki: Okay...I will entertain him for you...
Haru: Don't say or do anything stupid, Hideki! I'm warning you!
Hideki: I won't...I promise...

Hideki went downstairs and opened the front door for Aki.
Hideki: Welcome...to our home...
Aki: Hi, little guy, you must be Haru's little brother. I'm Aki Takeshi, Haru's classmate. Nice to meet you!
Hideki: Hmm...I'm Hideki. Nice to meet you too...
Aki: Ah...You're so cute—just like your brother!
Aki caressed Hideki's head.
Hideki showed Aki to the living room area. Hideki made a gesture for Aki to sit down. They both sat right next to each other. There was a moment of silence. Hideki started checking out Aki and intensively analyzing him. Aki made a puzzled look.
Aki: So—
Hideki cut him off before he even had the chance to speak.
Hideki: Huh...Can I ask you...um...a question?
Aki: Um...Sure...what is it?
Hideki: Are you...um...my brother's...ah...boyfriend?
Aki: Um...ah...uh...
Aki nervously scratched the side of his head.
Hideki: I...am...guessing. That's a no? Do you like...him?
Aki: I do...but little guy, you shouldn't really ask personal questions like that, you know?
Hideki: Hmm...okay...I mean...um. I can help you if you want.
Aki: Really? I think I'm good.
Aki was looking overly confident.
Hideki: Uh...hmm...you know some guy, named Usagi, came over last time...so...um...are you sure you still don't...want my help?
Aki looked surprised and became interested in Hideki's proposal.
Aki: Okay, I guess it doesn't hurt...what do you have for me?
Hideki: It will cost you...
Aki: Okay, what's the catch? What do you want?
Hideki: I want the life-size PandaMeow (Panda plus cat mashed up) stuff toy. It is as tall as me. The other guy forgot about it. So, if you get it for me, I will help you with my big brother.
Hideki became enthusiastic as he spoke about the PandaMeow toy.
Aki: Ah...that super fluffy stuff toy! I've seen it before. Isn't it sold out everywhere? Um, okay. I'll see what I can do, and I'll try to get it for you. I promise, now tell me.
Hideki: They are sold out! My parents weren't able to get me one...
Aki looked serious but Hideki was still hesitant.
Hideki: I'm not going to tell you unless you give me the PandaMeow stuff toy.
Aki: Hold on...
Aki pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
Aki: Hey, It's Aki. Can you stop by the toy store and buy a life-sized PandaMeow? Yes, immediately. Come back in 10 minutes...
Hideki: So...?
Aki: I'm getting it for you. My family has connections, and my butler is getting it right now. So tell me...
Hideki's face lit up, and he became more relax.
Hideki: Okay, I will trust you...for now. If you break your promise, I will ruin your image. You've been warned. Okay, Haru loves chocolate, especially the white chocolate kind. Haru loves anime and BL manga. He doesn't like scary movies but enjoys it anyway. He hugs my mom when the scary scene comes on. He likes classical piano and wants to learn how to play the piano. He likes pop music and to sing them. He has an annoying singing voice. He likes being—
Hideki heard footsteps from the stairs. He immediately stopped talking and prepared to dash to his room.
Aki was attentive on every single detail Hideki gave him. He was writing mental notes and hoping to use it as reference in the near future.
