Walking into the meeting area after much arguing and lying it was in the end; Amber, Adam, Will, Logan, Gabe, Ty and Rob and also myself. The rest including Logan’s backup (who were unknown to the others) and Dean, Grant and Liz were outside at a reasonable distance to not give them any ideas of what was to unfold. They had to be at a reasonable distance due to Vampires and any other beings of supernatural’s strengths which included scent.
We walked in a ‘v’ formation almost, I being at the tip and centre since I was the main focus of this drama. I was the reason behind this mess, all me.
The place wasn’t a clichéd warehouse or a deserted run down house. It was a mansion, a mansion on a cliff top overlooking Wollongong. We were in the ritziest place of Wollongong and I felt like I’d stepped back into the world of my mother’s.
Stepping inside the foyer it instantly put my mother’s house to shame instantly and I smirked picturing her rage and jealousy if she was here. We turned into the first door on the left which led us right into a ballroom with the floors tiled marble and the walls of white with fancy gold markings and carvings. It was elegant. The ballroom had no items within it whatsoever, bare. At the back of the huge room there were multiple doors and I felt suddenly like Alice from Alice in Wonderland when she had to pick between hundreds of doors. Other than the doors the room was empty and it felt hollow and eerie as everything echoed loudly. Above us there was a balcony that ran right around the entire room that looked down upon us, I couldn’t however see the stairs that led to the balcony but I could see a door up in the back corner on one side of the room.
It was quiet, dead silent and beyond unnerving as all of us held our breaths. Will pulled at my hand holding it in his tightly not wanting to let go, his touch was working in calming my nerves. I however had no idea what Will was feeling as our link was broken from our broken relationship, if you could ever call it a relationship. After Logan and I returned to the group there was no chance for either of us talking and sorting out all this mess and that’s how I wanted it to work because right now my focus was solely on rescuing my father. Besides, if we fixed our problems now that created the chance for Will to be able to understand what I was thinking, feeling and also soon to do. I couldn’t risk that; I couldn’t jeopardize millions of lives. So we all had focused on organizing, planning and for Logan and I lying.
The sound of a door creaking opened came across the large silent room. The small sound as nerve racking and loud as an explosion. All eyes turned to the door sharply as we watched two people step into the extravagant room.
I squared my shoulders angry and determined as I and my team crossed the room and the other two walking from their side to meet us in the middle of the room. There was a good safe distance between us and that gave me some sense of safety.
“Well, well, well little one.” He acknowledged a bright smile on his face as if we were old school friends. What I was discovering was that these Vamps were sadistic people, things; they got huge pleasure out of other’s discomfort. They enjoyed toying with their food.
“Astroid, Hulk.” I acknowledged each with a stiff nod.
Hulk just stared never talking like usual whereas Astroid continued smiling his perfect features and appearance seeming unfitting to his character, his actions and what he was. It was unsettling to the say the least and although all my anger was focused on wishing to stride forward and pull my fist through in my hard punch I knew I had to resist. My actions would be ineffective to say the least.
“Last time I saw you I had my foot through your ribs was it not?” he asked brightly.
I smiled folding my arms “Something like that.” I admitted easily trying to keep my nerves at bay, right now I was safe with the others here. The main word of focus though was right now. Soon that wasn’t to be the case. I however kept strong and undecipherable with a strong façade.
“A few broken ribs and a wrist, I must admit you scrubbed pretty well little one.” He said smirking happily as if listing his own doings to me would earn him a medal.
“What? You know them?” Will growled interjecting.
I swiftly looked over at Will seeing the hurt and betrayal in his eyes. My own grew in realization; he had literally been told nothing. I shot Logan a sharp dangerous look, my eyes narrowed “You said at the hospital you were going to call and explain.” I accussed enrage as I suddenly understood Will’s lack of knowledge and also him being there for me. He didn’t even know how this started!
Logan looked baffled “I told Dean to so I could continue hunting them down.” He said jerking his head towards Astroid and Hulk.
I suddenly felt awfully guilty as reality sunk in, at the most inappropriate time possible. All that anger, rejection, pain I had felt was because I didn’t communicate, as simple as that. Of course he had forgotten simple things as my birthday and Erin but that didn’t seem as major now as I stood basically facing death. If I had just spoken to him a lot of things wouldn’t have happened, I wouldn’t have split with him, I wouldn’t have had to experience such turmoil with Allen and my mother and I wouldn’t have discovered the truth about Adam and Amber, I could have lived in denial and naivety a little longer. But that left me wondering was all that pain worth experiencing so I was told of the truth, so that I actually could see the betrayal and the knives in my back? I didn’t know and right now wasn’t the time to be having such serious revelations. But one thing was clear; I had put Will through hell of pain, fear and worries all because I couldn’t stop and talk. Logan was right, I had been running. I had wounded my soul mate and I suddenly understood how he had been feeling all this time in relation to me.
I met Will’s gaze his eyes of hurt, anger and betrayal as he felt discourage. He was my soul mate and he knew less than Logan who was basically a random stranger and I completely understood now why he felt so betrayed; I had smaller amounts of that betrayal when he researched soul mates with Erin instead of me. “Will I am so sorry.” I pleaded my voice wavering as I reached out for his hand.
He pulled away looking elsewhere sharply as his chest heaved in anger. I flinch, the guilt and rejection knife cutting and yet deserving.
“Ah young love.” Astroid chuckled in a light joyfully tone, his smile was taunting, a sly cherished and yet cunning cat. I continued to glare at him furthermore as my insides coiled in rage. His smile only grew at that. “So,” he said happily clapping his hands together casually “have we come to do our exchange little one?” he asked holding out his hand.
I looked at his hand knowingly.
“Yup!” Logan said pleasantly making me grimace.
“No!” Will growled dangerously, our entire mob turning to Logan who had skillfully placed himself at the back of the group. They all argued, growling and yelling at him unaware of our actual plan.
Slowly I slid my hand into Astroid’s, his hand colder and his skin a perfect silk and smoothness like glass.
“Ah, at last.” Astroid sighed pleasantly all eyes turning to him. Astroid curled his hands around mine and yanked me to his side roughly, my arm socket protesting.
“Tanze!” Will growled as the others protested and gasped themselves. Yet all I could hear was Will’s pain, his disbelief and again, his feelings of betrayal. I couldn’t meet his eyes. Logan stood silent behind them all just observing Astroid and Hulk sharply and closely.
My heart was beating loud in my ears; I took a deep calming and collecting breath before I looked up into Astroid’s cold and dark eyes that were too close for comfort. “Where’s my father?”
A simple ‘snap’ of his fingers and Hulk appeared in the no man’s land between either side with my father. Dad’s knees trembled as he tried to stand, his pants torn like his shirt, his hair was caked with dried blood and dirt, his skin dried bloody and with grime. His face was horrible, entirely purple and swollen, his features undecipherable, especially his bunged up the eye, the size of my fist. His lip was cut and he had dirt and dried blood slathered on his face with pus and weep from the infected scars on his body. He looked awful.
“Oh dad.” I breathed guiltily, hating to think what they did to him. The teeth marks covering his body was enough of an insight to me to make bile rise within me. I had done this and I felt even guiltier that I had realized something was wrong before.
Dad looked at me squinting through his puffed up face with difficulty “Tanze?” he wheezed astonished, seeing me standing by them. “No! You can’t do this! Tanze you shouldn’t have! No you can’t!” he yelled struggling.
Hulk strode up and punched him in the stomach, my father falling to his knees on the cold marble floor and falling over his body now a heap on the floor as his blood pooled around him and drizzled from his mouth. Unconscious.
“No!” I cried tears falling as I struggled against Astroid. “Don’t hurt him you have me!” I yelled. “You c-“
I broke off, a shrill scream leaving my mouth as Astroid crushed my hand’s bones to dust, my entire hand collapsing to a gut wrenching flatness and I felt as if I had nothing in that hand. White searing heat injected deeply within me and I gasped tears in my eyes as I straightened myself as much as possible against the pain.
Heaving sharply I looked Astroid in the eyes and spat at him. He recoiled glowering as he wiped the spit off with the back of his hand, our eyes both beyond livid as they burned.
Suddenly his hands were curled around my face in a vice grip “You’re going to pay for that.” I leaned as much as possible back. His fingers slowly drew down the length of my face, telling me exactly silently how I was to pay.
“You’re sick.” I spat at him no fear within me, only red hot rage.
He smiled darkly watching his fingers run past the side of my lips, my body jerked back sharply under his touch in revolt. “I wouldn’t be the first. Allen had his way with you had he not?”
I looked away saying nothing, my eyes pooling in disgust and fear. How had he known?
“Come on now, it’s my turn.” He taunted as smile in his voice as he pulled me along casually to the back of the room.
I glanced over my shoulder for the first time looking for Will. My eyes grew at the scene having been so unaware of it until now. A black wolf, Will, growling and snapping at Logan lividly as Logan blocked his way; everyone else was helping in restraining. “Trust me!” Logan cried over and over trying to make his voice grow louder from the deafening snarls.
It was the last thing I saw before I stepped out of the room wondering if I could really trust Logan. Because someone was a traitor.
