Mia's POV

A shock went through my body yanking me awake. For some reason I had a really bad feeling about tonight. Like deep in my gut i knew something was going to go wrong. I knew tonight would be the end.

The soft brush pulled me out of my thoughts as it rubbed against my cheek as Grace applied the makeup. She was wearing her favorite color, electric purple.

"Be careful tonight Grace." I didnt know what i would do without her.

"Why? I've been doing this forever."

"i just have a bad feeling."

"well you should be careful." We both knew i wouldnt be. I lived for the thrill of being on the edge of life.

"Grace, why did you change your hair color?" Grace, well Elizabeth used to have a deep black hair color but as soon as she became Grace she changed and cut it.

"I was tired of being Elizabeth, I wanted to be someone new, and now I am."

"What was Elizabeth like?" For a moment she stopped but then she began to rub glitter on my eyelids.

"She was quiet, spent most of her time studying. She was the girl that never had a spot to sit at during lunch so she always sat out under a tree reading. She never went to parties, hooked up, or drank. And she was never part of the popular crowd." It sounded just like a high school movie.

"Well what's Grace like?" Opening one eye I saw her smile.

"She's the girl that can turn heads. She can have any guy she wants and isn't afraid to flirt. She likes to party and loves to drink. And she likes hooking up because she hopes to one day find that guy that when they kiss fireworks light up the sky. Instead of the shy quiet girl, she's the loud free spirited girl. I'm known now." I wasn't sure if she realized she just mentioned herself instead of Grace. "Come on we should get out there."

"Don't forget your mask." I held up the silver sparkle mask for her and then slipped mine over my head.

"Oh right." The boss had been to a club not that long ago and liked how they had the girls wearing masks, so we were trying it tonight. He also had the great idea of having themed nights, but that wouldn't start till tomorrow.

Walking out of the dressing rooms I followed Grace over towards the bar where Mark was working. He seemed to be struggling to keep up with the large demand of customers. For a Friday the place was packed.

"Mark, where are we tonight?" He took a second to glance over at us then went back to mixing drinks.

"You're both up in VIP. Here, one of you, take that tray and the other take the pitcher." Grabbing the tray of different drinks I slowly walked upstairs. The VIP area was full of the richest guys so I was pretty glad I would be up there tonight, more money. Although the bad part was each room was sealed off by a curtain and usually there was only one guy in a room. Yeah it might sound good but that means instead of dancing on a stage for tons of guys you had to dance for one guy, and that guy always tried something.

Two familiar voices pulled me out of my thoughts as I listened to the arguing voices. I hadn't realized I had stopped walking until Grace gently pushed my back. Placing the tray of drinks on the bar I scooted closer towards the curtain that blocked me from the voices.

"Dude, you are not leaving here so suck it up. You need to get your mind off of her for a while ok? You barely talk to anyone and all you do is mope around, I'm sick of it!" Jumping back just in time to see one of the voices that had been talking and immediately turned around when I saw it was Kevin. Shoot what was he doing here? Maybe he didn't see me.

"Hey, you! My buddy needs you." Without another word his strong hands pushed me through the curtain and came face to face with Blaze.

"Oh... hello." His voice was hoarse.

"Hi." I kept my head down and voice low so maybe he wouldn't recognize me. All I had to do was get this over with as soon as possible. "Drink?" I noticed the empty glass in his hand and quickly handed him another.

"Um...sorry I haven't really been here in a while, are you knew?" Nodding I went over to the pole in the room and slowly twirled around. I didn't care what bad things people thought about stripping, dancing on the pole was a work out and was fun.

"Why haven't you been here in a while?" I glanced over to him to see him sitting down on the couch.

"I...found someone. She was amazing and I didn't need to come to a place like this, but she's not in my life anymore." For the first time I looked at him, actually looked at him. He had deep circles under his eyes and it looked like he had stopped shaving.

"Oh I read about that in the newspaper, congratulations. What's it like being engaged?" Slowly I slid down on the pole since I had stopped dancing.

"What?" His face went from tired to confused.

"You know...wait you haven't seen it?" He lightly shook his head in a no manner. "Wait here." Running out of the room I bumped into Mark who was refilling the drink glasses.

"Mark, can I borrow your newspaper?" Slowly he recognized my voice without glancing at me.

"How did you know...?" Giving him the 'are you serious' look I got the chance to hear his charming laugh. "Yeah it's in the back room, third shelf on the right."

"Thanks!" Soon I was running down the stairs, politely pushing past other strippers till I reached the little room behind the bar. My eyes quickly scanned the area until it landed on a newspaper and saw the front picture. Jogging back to the room I didn't slow down till I was right in front of the velvet curtain.

Calm down Lexi. Deep breath, in out. In out. After what seemed like an entire hour I gently pushed the curtain out of the way and walked in. Blaze still sat in the same spot but this time he had a full glass of whiskey.

"Here." Gently I slid the newspaper towards him.

"What is...what the. Oh my gawd!"

"Yeah, so you like her? I mean you seem to get over Mia pretty fast." It was out of my mouth before I could stop myself. Immediately his eyes flew to me.

"How do you know about Mia?"

"I hung out with her?" My voice wasn't at all as confident as I wanted it to be but the answer seemed to sit fine with him. "So anyway I really need to start working. If my boss looks in here, which he does, and sees I'm not working he'll fire me and I seriously need the money." It took all my strength to pull my eyes away from his deep blue ones but finally I did. Turning on the music, I began swaying my hips, and for the first time I was having fun dancing for a client.

Before I knew it the club was closing. It was already 3 in the morning. Three hours after my shift was supposed to end. I hadn't talked again for the rest of the evening and neither did he. Pulling off my outfit and mask I quickly slipped on the white cotton dress I was wearing earlier. Great, I forgot my jacket! Now I have to walk in this freezing weather.

Most of the girls rode in a taxi but I liked walking home. The past me, Mia, would have been terrified but Lexi was fine with it. Maybe it was because of the kidnapping. My life had already been ruined so I had nothing to miss. I enjoyed walking down the streets at night. It was so peaceful and quiet.

As soon as I stepped out of the glass doors from the club I started searching through my purse. I needed to check the time but for some reason I couldn't find my phone.

"Looking for this?" My hands completely froze from moving around and my eyes jerked up. Leaning against the brick wall stood Blaze.

"Yes...thank you." As soon as I grabbed the cell phone he jerked me forward.

"Do you recognize me?" It sounded more like a statement than an actual question. We both knew I knew who he was but for some stupid reason I shook my head.

"No, sorry sir." My voice was so soft that for a moment I thought I might have just said it in my head.

"Don't lie to me...Mia." At that my attention was fully on him. I knew who he was and he knew who I was. The only thought I had was what happened now?
