While walking to the Icirrus City Gym, the group got lost in the Twist Mountain and were having trouble to find the exit.
So after arguing and fighting, a sound of someone mining was heard, giving the ground some hope and upon going near the source, an archaeologist was found, mining to find some fossils.
"Who are you guys?" The man asked.
"Hi, I'm Ash."
"And my name is Iris. This is my partner Axew."
"And I'm Cilan."
"I'm Y/N, and this is Arlo. We were actually trying to go to Icirrus City, but got lost in here."
Cilan's eyes then fell on the fossil laying on the ground which was just discovered.
"This is incredible! Did you just find this?" Cilan asked in surprise.
"Isn't this a Tirtouga fossil?" You whispered to yourself.
"You know about your stuff. This is your lucky day." The man said, picking the fossil up, "you have just witnessed a historic find in the exciting field of Pokémon Archeology."
"Pokémon arche- what?" Ash asked in confusion.
"Ash, are you serious?" You asked facepalming, "you know about this things." You frowned, "u-uhm anyway, is it a Tirtouga fossil?" You asked curiously.
The man, Ferris' eyes widened slightly at the mention of the extinct pokémon.
"What did you just say?" He asked.
"Uhm, that if it's a Tirtouga- I mean a Cover fossil or not. You see, I have a Carracosta of my own and it was restored from a fossil which looked exactly like the one you're holding.
"You mean this could be a Tirtouga?!" He sounded a bit impatient suddenly.
"Uh yeah?"
Suddenly a woman named Sierra, Ferris' friend came and started shouting at him before yelling at the group, telling them to leave.
After Sierra left, Ferris again went back to talking to the group and told them to come to his voice, to check the fossil out together.

"No doubt about it. It's a Cover Fossil!" Ferris exclaimed, after carefully breaking the rocks around the fossil and wiping it clean.
"I told you guys!" You smiled.
"Y/N, you mentioned having a Carracosta, can I see it?"
"Sure. Carracosta, out!"
Carracosta happily came out of its ball and rubbed it's head on your legs affectionately.
"This is incredible! A Carracosta!" He marvelled.
"This sounds so cool to hear that Tirtouga used to live in this Twist mountain years ago!" Ash said.
Ferris then said that he apparently met a Tirtouga when he was a child.
Apparently he was playing with Sierra and other friends in the Twist mountain, when he accidentally stumbled upon a portal like place and entered, only to be teleported in Ancient world, back when Twist mountain was just a field and numerous Tirtouga and Carracosta were living there. He played with a certain Tirtouga and when it was time to go, he didn't remember how he got back.
But since he knows it wasn't a dream, he studied hard to become a pokemon researcher so he can meet his friend once again somehow.
"So then that's gotta mean Tirtouga are still living somewhere." Ash said after listening to the whole story.
"Somehow Ferris stumbled onto a lost ancient world. That's how he met Tirtouga no doubt!" Iris replied.
"Your theory certainly has the aroma of mystery and intrigue, but I find it a bit hard to swallow." Cilan sweatdropped.
"Me too." Sierra said, "It doesn't sound reality to me."
"You've been saying the same old thing forever, but as you can see. I found the fossil." Ferris argued back.
You felt bad for Ferris, because you did believe going back in time was possible when pokémon like Celebi and Dialga exists, plus didn't you quite literally go to a different dimension in Sinnoh? Anything is possible, yet no one believes in his words.
"How can you guys not believe in him?" You asked, crossing your arms, "When Time holes certainly exist in this world, it's possible for Ferris to go back in time."
"There you go, another Ferris." Sierra rolled her eyes, making you glare at her in slight anger.
Ash and Arlo sensed your frustration, because they quite literally went through everything you did.
"Now now Y/N, don't get mad. Time will tell everything." Ash said, placing his hand on your shoulder, "pi-pika!"
"Never imagined hearing such wise words from you..." You murmured, causing Ash to sulk, "But yes. I shouldn't get irritated..."
Suddenly a robotic hand broke the glass and snatched the fossil from the top of table.
"What was that?!" Everyone shrieked.
"It must be Team Rocket!" Arlo stated.
In fear, the seven rushed out of the house to find that indeed, it was Team Rocket who stole the fossil.
"Team rocket!" Ash growled.
"What do you wanna do with the fossil this time?!" You asked, remembering the last time, when your tirtouga got revived and the trio tried stealing it.
"That's none of your business twerp" Jessie smirked.
"Maybe we're finishing what we couldn't the last time."
"Ugh, I knew it." You said, "But I'm not letting you take it away this time too! Spearow, go!" You threw the ball, letting her out.
"Too late for that now, you see our helicopter is here." Meowth devilishly grinned, and suddenly a helicopter arrived and the three jumped on it.
But Ferris and Ash were desperate to save it and followed the trio inside before the helicopter could get away.
"Hurry, we need to follow them!" You said to the other four.
"Can we follow them using your van?" Arlo asked Sierra.
"Sure, we can. Hop on!"

Sierra did her best to drive as fast as she could before eventually finding Ash and Ferris with Pikachu, Oshawott and Tirtouga on the forest, as they had fell from Team Rocket's helicopter.
They were attacked by three wild Venipede, but Cilan's Crustle attacked them from the top of the van, knocking them out, while the two got inside the van with the three pokémon.
"You two okay?" You asked after they hopped inside.
"Yeah" Ash replied.
"Team Rocket wants to catch lots of ancient pokémon, and their plan is to take advantage of Tirtouga to do just that" Ferris informed.
"I'm not surprised..." Arlo muttered under his breath.
"But how are they gonna do that?" Iris asked Ferris.
"By using the time gate. That's the space time warp beneath the Twist mountain. Pass through it and you can travel through time."
Your eyes widened at the mention of space time warp, 'So it's still there on this mountain?' you thought. You and Ash shared a glance before looking back on road.
The group decided to rest at an open field to feed the pokémon, especially Tirtouga as it was hungry.
Iris had managed to gather some fruit, but Tirtouga denied eating it, as it tasted awful.
"Did you find the food you feed Carracosta?" Ash asked, his voice carrying immediacy.
"Give me a minute" you said, searching the bag thoroughly, "i can't find it..."
"its fine." Ferris reassured, " I believe Tirtouga might eat this fruit" he said, giving it a pinap berry like fruit, which it ate happily.
After eating, Tirtouga felt tired and fell asleep, making the others watch him in awe. Carracosta's parental instincts kicked in and it also laid beside the little one, wrapping it's arms around Tirtouga.
Not even a few minutes later, Team Rocket suddenly came back and threw a powerful net, capturing Tirtouga, but missed Carracosta.
"Team Rocket again?!" You shouted.
"Pikachu, use iron tail to help Tirtouga out!" Ash ordered, but alas! It couldn't be broken.
Tirtouga let out a sharp cry for help, before it's body suddenly started glowing and it's silhouette started getting bigger.
"Hey look, it's evolving!" You pointed.
The small net couldn't keep the newly evolved Carracosta in it and it got broken.
From the Twist mountains, a cry of other Carracostas suddenly caught the newly evolved pokemon's attention and it started running towards the source.
"Ugh! It's running away!" Meowth complained.
"Hey, why don't we try to capture this twerp's Caraccosta while we're at it?" Jessie suggested with a smirk, "Meowth, follow that one. Let us two capture this."
"Oh as if we're letting you!" You shouted, "Hydro pump!"
"Pikachu, thunderbolt!"
"Pansage, come out and use bullet seed!"
"Tch" James immediately retreated with Jessie and just ran with her to catch up with Meowth, after barely dodging the moves.
"Okay, we have to hurry now!" You shouted and started chasing the trio.
Ferris started leading the way to the cave and upon walking inside, you could see the time warp leading to a different timeline.
Carracosta let out a loud roar, which gained the attention of the other Carracostas, who came rushing to help it's partner.
Your Carracosta was watching the scene with a slightly opened mouth.
Team Rocket wasted no time to immediately capture the three wild Carracostas, using some highly advanced technology which trapped the three into a translucent box.
"Yamask use shadow ball." James ordered, smirking with Jessie, "Use air slash!" Jessie ordered her pokémon, pointing towards the trainers.
"Spearow, c'mon out and use tri-attack!"
"Pikachu thunderbolt!"
"Pansage, solarbeam!"
The attacks together managed to destroy the Rocket's moves, but the two mons dodged them.
The newly evolved Carracosta suddenly let out an angry cry, which made the trapped three cry too before they started glowing and Carracosta attacked the box with ancient power.
"Uh-oh!" Meowth gasped at the explosion.
"Uh-oh what?" Jessie asked.
"They wrecked the wall, that's all?" James replied in shock.
"Pikachu, electroball!" Ash suddenly ordered and Pikachu launched the attack at Team Rocket, who disappeared after the attack hit and made an explosion.
"They disappeared again" You groaned.
"But I'm so glad that Carracosta are safe" Iris said. Everyone's anger towards the group faded and looked at the ancient group with a soft smile.
The group walked inside the ancient world, and were surprised by how different the world looked.
Ferris started talking to his beloved Carracosta, while some watched him and others looked around themselves.
You softly smiled at Ferris' interaction with Carracosta and were about to say something, when your eyes fell on your Carracosta.
It looked so happy suddenly, playing and talking to the three other of its kind and walking around the place.
You suddenly stopped in your tracks, just staring at your pokémon.
Cilan suddenly noticed you being quiet and just staring blankly.
"Hey Y/N, everything's alright?"
"H-huh? Oh yeah." You smiled at him, reassuring that you're okay.
Cilan didn't seem to buy your smile and looked at the direction you were looking at.
Being the most mature and smartest in the group, he quickly seemed to connect the dots and easily understood what caused you to be this quiet.
"You're thinking about how happy Carracosta looks in this Earth, right?"
You immediately looked at Cilan in shock, before just frowning.
"Yeah...Carracosta looks much happier over here...do you think I should let him just stay back in time? This is his world, not the one we're in..."
Cilan stayed quiet, thinking about what you just said.
'Carracosta has always been fond of Y/N and is following her the most, but what she said about Carracosta looking more happy here, is true. This world is his comfort world, not the modernized one...I mean, if I was Carracosta, I would also prefer to be with my own people and world, but then again....'
Iris, Ash, and Arlo saw you standing with Cilan, looking depressed and approached.
"What are you two doing?" Iris asked.
"Why do you look so gloomy?" Arlo asked you.
"Oh uhm..."
"Y/N is sort of thinking about leaving Carracosta here" Cilan said for you, causing the group to gasp.
"But why?!" Ash asked.
You looked down, "Because this is the place he belongs to, Ash."
"But leaving Carracosta will hurt you instead!" Iris said.
"But he'll have his friends over here, the foods he like, the perfect environment and climate." You listed out the points you've been thinking.
"You do know that Carracosta is fine with us, right? You two are extremely close and always together! Don't you see how he's always clinging to you since it hatched back at the lab?"
You sighed.
"I know..." You paused before pointing at Ferris, "See them. Do you think Ferris wants to leave his friend too? No. Also, they've known each other less than I know my Carracosta, still he looks sad at the thought of him leaving. I would absolutely feel terrible about leaving mine here, but honestly, I should see what's the best for my pokémon, and if it means letting him go....then I should do that..."
The group looked sad.
"Carracosta?" You called, making him look at you, "Come here for a second." He quickly came to you and cried out softly while smiling, which made you smile as well.
With a heavy heart, you took a deep breath and knelt down to his height.
"Do you wanna stay here?"
