Best Friends And Possibly More
Another casual day at school. Another casual day with Leon. You and him were best friends and were always seen together; resulting in people thinking that the two of you were dating. You always got flustered and denied it but truthfully, you wished you were in a relationship with the baseballer. Leon always seemed to play along with people before shaking his head and saying, "Nah guys. We're just really good friends."
Today was no different. It was a Friday, meaning everyone would be rowdy and planning parties as per usual. You weren't really the type to be at these parties; heck, you were hardly ever invited to them. The only ones you were invited to was Leon's, Mioda's and Asahina's. Everyone else either didn't throw such ridiculous parties or just wanted the "cool" kids to be there. Obviously you didn't come under that category.
While walking into the school building to grab your books, Leon came up behind you and gave you a surprise hug. "Hey hey sweet thing~"

You jumped and wriggled out of his embrace before pouting at him. "Leon! You know I get jumpy..." You sent your small pout of 'anger' towards him but that didn't do anything to the baseballer. He only smirked in victory and ruffled your hair.
"Naw, c'mon. It was only a little bit of fun," he said, pouting mockingly back at you. You couldn't stay mad at him, you've never been mad at Leon. You couldn't help but smile and gently slap him on the arm. Leon grinned back at you as you guys walked further into Hope's Peak to grab your books for first period. "So I'll be throwing a party tonight. I want you to come."
"Leon, you know I'm not a party person..."
"You always say that [Name] but you end up coming anyways!"
You opened your mouth to defend yourself but closed it quickly, knowing that what he said was true. A small blush fell upon your cheeks as Leon chuckled. "Okay, I'll come then..."
"Awesome!"
"Who else did you invite?" You turned your head towards him, your voice questioning. Why you wanted to know was no one's business except yours. Even Leon didn't know the reason.
"Well... I invited everyone but some can't make it... Celestia, Oowada, Hagakure, Asahina, Oogami, Enoshima, Hinata, Komaeda, Oowari, Nidai, Sonia, Souda, Kuzuryuu, Pekoyama and Hanamura are the ones coming. Then some other people wanted to tag along so yeah. Oh! And Maizono and Mioda."
Your heart tightened at the last two names. Why? Because the tone Leon used when saying the two names was full of excitement and joy. Why was he so happy that they were coming? Aren't they just two regular girls? Could they have bribed their way into Leon's close circle? Why are you getting so frustrated? Could you possibly be jealous? Why are you so worked up about the two? What if... Leon distances himself from you because of those two girls?
"[Name]?"
"Huh?"
"You kinda spaced out," Leon said worriedly. He had stopped at your locker while you were a couple of feet ahead. The boy pointed to the locker and you responded with a blank, clueless look. "Your locker."
Realising what Leon was trying to say, you rushed over to him and unlocked your locker. "Before you ask, yes, I'm fine." You grabbed your books, shoved them into your bag and slammed the locker door close, not forgetting to lock it unlike last time......
You walked away from the locker, moving towards your homeroom class, Leon tailing behind you. Leon watched you with a concerned expression. Yes, you were his best friend in the whole world and possibly the best in the whole world... but little did you know that he held strong feelings to have you as his own. To be his girlfriend, to be his lover, to be by his side forever. Seeing you in such a state made his heart ache, making him think that you didn't want to be spending time with him anymore. Leon knew you hardly ever spaced out; always so alert of your surroundings and always, always, always paying attention. His worry grew as you two continued walking towards homeroom.
As you and Leon entered the rowdy class, a girl jumped on Leon and making him stumble back slightly. "Kuwata! Thanks so much for inviting me to the party!"
God no... that voice... It only belonged to one person and this time, you could feel your heart shattering into a million pieces before being forcibly put back together again.
"Ah, Maizono! No worries! I wanted to invite everyone and glad that you could come," Leon replied to her, a smile lingering on his lips. You turned your head briefly, staring at the two before quickly making your way to your seat. As you sat down and got out your books, you heard someone whispering in the background.
"Hey hey! Is Kuwata cheating on [Last Name]?"
"Oi, [Last Name] was never going out with him anyways... Plus, Maizono and Kuwata look like a pretty good couple."
You blocked out the voices by shoving in your earphones and turning up your music. Pressing play, you listened to the first song that came up. The song calmed you down as you leaned your head on your desk. It was a song that Leon had written, just especially for you. When he told you he wanted to be a musician, you supported him and encouraged him to do what he wants. A few days later, he tried making a song and recorded it before sending it to you. You listened and though it was evident that Leon never did anything to do with music before, you still smiled and praised him. The grin on his face made your heart flutter and you kept the song, rating it as your favourite. Now you always listened to it whenever you wanted to run away.
"Hey. [Last Name]."
You looked up to the person and saw it was Oowada. Sitting up, you scanned the room and saw that Leon was talking with Maizono and a girl from a different class, Mioda. You decided to leave him alone. "What's up Oowada?"
He pulled out the chair from the next desk and sat by yours. You noticed a small blush on his face and just wondered if he was feeling unwell. "I... I need help. Like really fucking need your help."
"Tell me what it is."
"Have you... uh, got any advice for say... dating?"
You were packing away your earphones when you stopped. Oowada? Dating? "You... want advice for... dating...?" You turned your head slowly towards him to see Oowada blushing and frowning angrily, as if annoyed that you seemed to be mocking him.
"Yeah..."
"Well, I guess just act yourself. No one wants to date someone's fake. Who are you thinking of asking out anyways?" You asked, curious.
"Uh... F-Fujisaki," he mumbled out. Though he seemed tough on the outside, he was a complete rookie at dating... and also a major softie.
You chuckled. "Ah, Fujisaki. I think you two make a great pair." You smiled encouragingly at him and Oowada grinned back.
"Really? Well, you and Kuwata are always being paired up. Where the heck is he anyways?" Oowada asked.
"I'm not dating him Oowada... We're just friends. Plus, I think he likes either Maizono or Mioda." You averted your eyes from him for a second before shifting your attention back to Oowada.
"Ah, well, if you ever need comfort, I guess I can help. He's a fucking idiot if he isn't going out with you..." Oowada stood up and waved at you before walking over to his desk.
You only just managed to process what Oowada had just told you and a pink hue dusted upon your cheeks. You hid your face in your arms till class started.

You knocked on Leon's door. Loud music could be heard, meaning that the party was in full swing. You sighed. Maybe you should just go home. It was probably best if you didn't come anyways...
As you were about to turn back, the door opened, revealing Oowada. "Ah, [Name]." He smirked slightly and gestured for you to come in. Accepting, you walked into Leon's house.
"Where's Leon?"
"Fucking wasted and hanging with two chicks. Maizono and Mioda I think," Oowada replied as he took a small sip of his beer. "Want a drink?" He was walking towards the kitchen with you tailing behind him.
"Yeah sure. Gimme a soda," you said as you leaned against the bench top. Oowada handed you a can of soda which you opened and drank a mouthful before looking up at the boy. "You used my first name when you greeted me, didn't you?"
"Ah yeah. Sorry."
"Nah, it's okay... Mondo." You chuckled as Mondo joined in. "So, did you talk to Fujisaki yet?"
Mondo had a slight blush and you knew it wasn't from the beer. "Yeah I did..."
"Let me guess, you guys are going out now." You grinned slyly at him while he just nodded. "Aw! That's great!" In the spur of the moment, you hugged the boy, making him startled but chuckled and returned your hug.
"Yeah thanks [Name]. What about you? Ever thought of dating that baseballer?" Mondo mimicked your grin and you let out a hearty laugh.
"Nah. Like I said, we're just friends... plus, I'm pretty sure he likes either Maizono and Mioda..."
Mondo gave you an uncertain look before switching the subject. You two just talked for the rest of the party and you didn't realise that a certain wasted baseballer was watching you the entire time through the kitchen opening. HIs heart ached so much that he forced himself to get even more drunk. Maizono and Mioda were no help at all. The two just encouraged him to drink more and they became even more wasted that he was already. Thoughts just kept running into his mind. Ones such as 'Does [Name] even like hanging out with me?' and 'Why is [Name] with fucking Oowada?' and 'Don't fucking steal my girl!'
Driven by these thoughts, Leon chugged down more and more drinks, soon passing out on his couch.

Leon groaned, holding his head as his eyes opened. He could hear rustling and objects being thrown into a rubbish bag. Turning his head, he saw a figure, cleaning up all the trash that fell around the house. Leon was just barely able to make out the person, so he tried calling out to them. "......... [Name]..." It was the first person that came to his mind.
"Yeah Leon?" You asked as you dropped the bag and sat down in front of the couch he was lying down on. "You kinda got really wasted... everyone left not too long ago... some left earlier. I thought that I should just stay back. Knowing you, your hangovers are the worst when you get this drunk." You showed him the countless bottles of beer and other drinks that sat around his couch. You knew this wasn't other people's drinks because everyone else had thrown away their bottles.
Leon only let out a laugh as he covered his eyes with his arm. "Aha... ahaha... hahaha..." You could just see a tear streak down his face.
"... Leon?"
"Where were you [Name]? Were you with someone else? Do you not like me? Why does the world have to be so cruel? Why can't I just confess already?"
His stream of questions came as a total shock to you as he turned his head towards you and removed his arm, showing his tear filled eyes. "Leon, you're drunk... get some rest."
"I love you [Name]. I love you so much and it hurt so much when you were with Oowada last night... and when you were so preoccupied with your thoughts the other day and insisted that you were fine... My heart ached so much I drank all this shit. Just for you."
You saw the sincerity and the love in his eyes. Now you were certain that this wasn't the alcohol talking. Resting your hand against his cheek, you leaned forward and left a small peck on his lips. As you pulled away, Leon sat up and pulled you on top of him, then crashed his lips onto yours.
"Be mine [Name]. Please... you're the only one who can heal this aching in my heart." He sat up properly this time before kissing you softly.
"Best friends and more... Of course I will."
