Friday Max had been avoiding his dad all day, when he got home the night before his mum had informed him that his dad had rang Jake and knew that he had lied about helping him study. So Friday morning he had woken up an hour earlier than usual and left the house before his dad woke up and now he was walking around school constantly on the look out for his dad.
“What's up with you today?” Zack asked him at Lunch,
“I'm hiding from my dad, he found out that I lied to him about studying with Jake yesterday” he explained nervously running his hand through his hair,
“How have you avoided him? Don't you have him for first period?” Rachel asked
“Yes, I told Mrs Harper that I would help her with the end of year certificates if she got me out of my class this morning” he explained, “Which is another thing that he will be upset about” Max groaned,
“Why don't you just tell him the truth?” Jenny suggested with a smile.
“He really doesn't like you Jen, he thinks your a distraction” he replied and Jenny looked sad, “he's an idiot, your perfect” Max informed her giving her a hug so she wasn't as upset.
“Why don't you say that you were helping me study yesterday, you can say that you got the names mixed up or something” Zack suggested and Max smiled,
“That's a great idea” he cheered happily.
Kelly was counting the minutes till the end off school, today had dragged and she found herself daydreaming during her last class. “Kelly Jones, The headmaster would like to see you” a voice called snapping her back to reality. “Kelly” her teacher called again holding a note, that another student had just delivered, in the air. “He wants to see you now” she informed passing her the note as she passed the desk and walked out of the class.
Kelly was so confused, she had never been called into the headmasters office. As she walked down the corridor she used her gift to connect to Zack's mind, he was mentally singing 'row row row your boat' which Kelly rudely interrupted with, “What did you do?”
“Kelly?” was his reply,
“Yes it's me now tell me what you did?” she snapped
“What are you talking about?” he thought and Kelly could tell he was confused,
“I have been called into the headmasters office. What have you done that has gotten me into trouble?” she accused,
“Nothing, I swear”
“Well why else would I be called for?”
“Maybe, you got an A instead of an A+ in a test” was Zack's witty reply,
“This isn't funny, I'm worried” Kelly admitted and Zack instantly stopped teasing,
“Don't worry it will be nothing. Keep me informed” Zack said and Kelly agreed before disconnecting from him as she arrived at the headmasters office.
Kelly knocked on the door twice and heard a “come in” before she opened the door revealing the headmaster sitting at his large desk, with a pile of folders on one side and a computer the other. Sitting on two seats in front of the desk were a man and woman dressed in suits.
“You sent for me. Am I in trouble?” she asked warily,
“No your not in trouble Kelly. This is Mr Shields and Mrs Jenkins, they are from child protection” the headteacher informed her, motioning to the man and woman sat in front of him. Kelly instantly reconnected to Zack letting him listen to the conversation and hearing his concerned voice ask if she was alright.
“There are two child protective agents here that want to speak with me” she informed him.
“Please take a seat” the headmaster said pointing to the chair in between the two child protection agents.
“We have been informed by your parents that you have ran away from home and are living with a male adult who claims to be you biological father.” Mrs Jenkins began from her right, in a sickly sweet voice,
“Unfortunately it is illegal for you to live with this man without your parents permission.” Mr Shields added seriously,
“This doesn't sound good” Zack thought,
“but Tray is my biological father” Kelly pointed out, “Doesn't he have more rights to me than my so called parents” she asked,
“I'm afraid he has no legal custody over you” Mr Shields said, “Your parents have expressed concerns for your well being and safety with this man and we have been sent to ensure that you are placed back into their protective care” he continued and Kelly's eyes widened in shock.
“Alright I'm on my way,” Zack informed as he jumped from his seat making some excuse to leave his class.
“Wait, why do I have to leave Tray?” Kelly asked, “I don't want to live with my parents” she said,
“We understand that you have had a massive shock and don't know what to think right now but Mr and Mrs Jones are still your legal guardians even if they are not your biological parents” Mrs Jenkins explained placing a comforting hand on Kelly's shoulder.
“No! I'm not going back to live with them” Kelly argued standing from her seat
“you tell them Kelly” Zack piped in,
“Not helping Zack” she informed,
“You may not like this but it is just the way it is” Mr Shield said also standing,
“But what if Tray gets legal custody of me?” Kelly argued,
“I'm afraid it will be a long process, he will have to prove he is your father by taking a number of DNA tests. And this is only if you parents agree to let you have your DNA tested against his” Mrs Jenkins explained in her high pitched voice as she took hold of her arm,
“No, I'm not going back to them” Kelly shouted pulling out of the woman grasp and running out of the door. Zack was running towards her when she exited the office with the two child protection agents and the headmaster following her.
“Come on let's get out of here” Zack said,
“Kelly!” they called, “There is no point running away, we will just collect you from the house” the woman called her voice making Kelly stop running and turn back toward them.
All three adults stood before her and Zack, “Now lets go back to the office and talk about this” Mr Shield said,
“No,” Kelly said connecting to their minds, “You will leave me alone and let me stay with Tray. My parents don't have any rights to me any more” she said forcing the idea into their heads.
“Oh, Alright” the headmaster said slightly dazed before turning and walking away with the two child protection agents following him.
“Kelly, did you just use mind control on them?” Zack asked from behind her shocked,
“It was the only way to stop them” she grumbled walking past him as the bell rang signalling the end of school. Students burst from the classrooms with cheers and sighs, all happy another day was over and they could relax.

OK so i know that was only a small chapter but please tell me what you think :)
Do you think Max's lie will work or do you think he will be in more trouble with his dad? What about Kelly using Mind control :0? what would you have done in her situation? Do you think they will leave her alone now?
