All was silent, the world seemed a far of cry on an ocean shore. i was lost to my thoughts a prisoner to my untimely sorrow. I longed for Damiens embrace, i still remebered the cold betrayal on his face as i swept my child from his arms and left the room. Yet my own betrayal cut the flesh deeper than that of any mortal blade. he had put our life in jepordy, our fates now hung in the balance poised for freedom or eternal dammnation...i though wrly my mouth twisitng up in a synical smile, ill beffiting the pituresque scene of the perfect little family we had shared just moments before. Codys big green eyes mirrored my own, a little frown creasing his features as he reached Damien, snugglnig further into the croks of my arms.
"night daddy" cody yawned his mouth forming a perfect little 'o' before drifting into the land of dreamers. Damiens eyes held mine there look was intense..as if urging me to stay. i quickly denied the demands of my trecherous heart. prefferng to focus on the cold hard fury i felt emmanating from every pore of my being.
"stay" he mumured his voice a barely concealed whisper of agony. tears pricked my eyes. yet i held my head determined....he would have to do better than that.
I tucked cody into bed noting the way his little hands clasped mine. as if reahcing out for a life line. how long could i continue to put our lives in danger? our very exsistance marked the deadline, for our fate. what i wouldnt have given in this very moment to be a normal girl. at that thought my body locked down with a pain so immense it was unheard of. Without this world i would never had found my romeo.
My romeo...? i thought with a sarcastic snort since when had i gotten so melodramatic. Must be vampire hormones i chided myself. my eyes narrowing in discust.
turning of the light i slipped into my own bedroom the picture of perfect stealth. being a vamp had its perks i thought grimly sliding into my silk nightgown. somwhere in the darkness i heard a second lot of footsteps mark there approach. walking over to the door i firmly bolted the door. my arms crossed i stared at it with narrowed eyes sparks flew from my fingetips lending the the darkness a new vibrancy an air of seductive allure....
"honey...." Damien pleaded his voice whiny i imagined his face the pefect picture of a sulking child. i had to fight the urge to smile. my lips hardend in a resolute line of defiance. let him charm his way into the lions den i thought fericely i was spoling for a fight.
"Juliiet opened the door" he reasoned shaking it gently.
No response
"sweetheart" i growled echoing my anger at being called a term of endearment.
"JULLIET OPEN THIS DOOR NOW" he growled the door schreeching in protest at the frame shuddered for a moment. the bolt sliding back an inch. my fangs extended i slid into a hunting crouch....instinctive. a feirce smile curved my lips of stone.
The bolt lost another inch i edged towards the door. Then with a spark of light the door flew open. a bewildered looking damien stood there for a moment his eyes searching the room. that was when i lunged. knocking us both to the ground i snarled, my hands clawing at his face. He roared a protest and we both fought for a moment or to lost in deathly combat. Damien quickly overpowering my half hearted attempts. he silenced all angered shouts with a feirce searing kiss slow and building, our bodys met fire and ice, i could feel myself melting into his embrace, his hands once restraints dragged me closer to his side. His hold almost painfull that masculine growl echoed deep within his throat. Lifting me over his shoulder, he hauled me over to the bed, before placing me on it with the tenderest of tocuhes. my hair fanned wildy around my face. my breathing laboured. i took in deep lungfulls of his spicy scent, the most irresistable perfume clinging around my form. an easy invatation. I titled my head back in a provocative challenge my eyes daring him on, while my mind whispered no. His lips persausive at first, suddenly turned into a demmaning hunger. like a wild fire in the desert lands, heat spread through our viens, igniting our blood. i couldnt get nearer to him quick enough. he way everywhere his perfume fillnig my mind clouding my senses. how much stronger this physical attraction was in the passion of anger. i thought wrly as damien growled when i attemepted to shrug of his advances. MEN!!
"i think you should leave"i panted yet as i said this my hands drew him nearer still, he stared at me through half lidded eyes lust filled his features. His expression almost severe.
"huhhhh" he said struggling to form a coherent response.
"i love you but i need you to leave" he froze it was the first time i had spoken thse words allowed silently he nodded once before slipping into the night.
I turned over on my side gazing at the pale moon. my eyes expectant some minutes later, a crouhed figure appeared at the windowsill, his arrogant face determined. sliding the window opened he extended one leg through the window his leg hovering momentarily in the air.
"Im mean it Romeo"i whispered knowing my vocie would carry across the silence.
"dammit" he cursed shutting the window once more. he stared at me sorrouwfully for a moment or two, our emotions kindred in that small fragment of time. My hand rose of it own accord calling across distance and space, before his figure retreated into the darkness noce more. A long while later,i heard a string of silent curses followed by a loud banging the open fire erupted in soot. A coal covered damien sat there looking triupmhant fro a moment or two, before he spied my watching gaze. my eyes flashed with wicked amusment he cursed once more.
"if you value m sanity dont ask me to go bak the way i came" he muttered reaching for the door.
"i thought santa always came bearing gifts" i said my mouth puckering provocatively. Damien growled in exictemnt striding towards me his face desperate his eyes pleading. i laughed once my body rocked with amusment tears rolled down my cheeks at this soot covered lust filled vampire. once a deadkly trianed assin now reduced to a mere peeping tom. I laughed again almost on the verge of pain. he growled inchoerently for several long moments to angry to form words before stalking out the door, it shook in its frame. i closed my eyes sighnig blissfully into a deep sleep.
I woke to find the sun trailing in scattered patterns across my bedspread my hand reached instintively to the head on my stomach him arms wrapped tightly around my waist. cody ithought happily, untill my hand stroked the silky dark mass of hair. Damien?? i thought to bemused to do anything but sit there stroknig his hair a hand threaded throughmine holding it in place, while the other one moved possevily over my stomach, sending a liquid fire trembling in its trail. i sawlloed nevrosuly. aware that sparks shot from my fingers. his hai started to smoulder i bit back a roar of laughter and asked in my most innocent voice.
"damien"
only a muted growl....was that a purr i thought widly no it couldnt be.
"ummm do you smell smoke" damiens hands flew to his thick lushous hair he rolled of the bed swearing. landing with a low groan on the floor.
"daddy, mommy wakkkeeeup' cody yelled jumping excitedly on a half asleep damien in his hurry to reach my embrace, damein groaned once more. his response muffled by thick fur of the carpet i sounded like a garbled sigh. i laughed freely our past troubles all but forgot.
Damien stood up in one swift desisive movement, and scoopped the eager Cody into his arms. i growled in response to the intrusion. My arms felt barren...
"so the lioness is protective of her cub" he observed drly, before swinging cody over his shoulders and pausing at the door.
"breakfast for the vampires" he said lifting his eyebrow challenglnigly cody crowed on his shoulders, I swept past them lightly brushing his arm as i swept past bringing goosepumbs to his skin. he shivered in response. his gaze traveling posseivly up my attire with a clear male appreactiation. i pirhoutted so he could observe every angle. he made choking soun in the back of his throat. and it took every ounce of willpoerto rmeebr the child on his back. hero worship clear in his eyes.
"daddy loves you" cody said simply while, Damien flushed an adorable pink.
"more than you'll ever know" he added. heading for the kitchen i stood there stunned by silence drowing in these new and powerfull emotions, when i looked at him again i emreged a different woman, smilnig coyly i made my way to the kitchen when we were interrupted by a loaud rasping knock....
Damie and i froze, we hissed in union. Damien reached for cody sheilidng him instinctively with his body. my heart swelled with pure joy.
i reached for the door. Damien watching my every move, his eyes poseesive and wary...
I opened the door, To see miles standing there his expression awed as his eyes roamed over my attire. me smiled approvingly before his face found mine again my face flushed with unease what was he???
Damien slammed the door in his face growling he pulled me closer to his side. his eyes murderous. i glanced down startled my crimson silk night gown hugged every curve flattering my trim waist.
"is that uncle miles again?" cody asked interested his green eyes flashing with intelligence. Miles had been round almost everyday always seeking the same questions never exepcting the same asnwer. How many ways can there be to say no?
"uncle" Damien asked under his breath, his voice deadly calm.
"your the daddy" i smirked winknig at him seductively he growled with approval tracing heated circles along my spine.
"ahemm" cody asked innocently we jumped a foot apart. i shot damien a wry glance, cody looked amused like an indulgent parent. my little brother. i smiled rollnig my eyes and heading for the kitchen.
The door sounded once moe damien slid past me he leaned towards the wall making his presence known his smile would freeze the sun.
"you rang" he drawled doing his best imitation ofthe addems family i bit back a grin. cody laughed bhind me his little fingers weaving through mine.
"i uhhhhh... what are you doing here" miles demandedthe two men appraised one another doing the maucho terratory thing i rolled my eyes. Milses chest seem,ed to inflate damiench hand inched towards the door again.
"state your buisness" he barked.
" i need to speak to Juliet" he said simply eyeing cockily i grinned back in attempt to provoke Damien it work damien hissed under his breath.
"shes not available" he said shutting the door miles put his foot over the threshold, damien grew deathly still ,his body coiled to fight. i was suddenly filled with a horrible image of mileses athletci body being tossed over a tall building......
"but shes right there" he wailed, sourly.
"errr damien its ok" i said placing a comfoting hand on his shoulder ready to make it a restraint. mileses eye narrowed at the contact.
"so ther rumours are true" he murmured thrusting a card into my hand.
i looked at it worldlesly. dameins eyes never left, miles
" that physcic from the local fair asked me to deliver this" he said expectantly damien rolled his eyes and slammed the door in his face once more.
i was to preoccupied to notice.
In my hand i held the the nine of cups in barely elidgable writting read the words:
