it's a short chapter again 'cause I have to cut it since the next one is not connected... ^_^
and I have an Announcement: I'll be uploading the next chapters every weekend because I'll be very busy now for work and all (I feel so old again..rawr), at least I'll still upload one chapter a week.

“Dad”, Raf said and I saw his whole body still tensed and restrained.
His dad looked irritated looking at *gulp*… me.
He has that powerful and confident aura that makes every person bow down to him. You can very well see that Raf and Rupert got their looks and almost all their features from their dad. Great blue eyes, dark brown hair, pin pointed nose, height and all their handsomeness and hotness.
And no, I’m not checking out Raf’s dad. That would be disturbing. Ewww!
“This is Scarlet, she’s my bestriend” Raf spoke in a flat tone disturbing his dad’s intense gaze on me.
His dad didn’t seem to hear him or maybe pretended not to hear him as he turned his head to look at Raf and smiled warmly, “No hug for your old man? We haven’t seen each other in a while” He said opening his arms walking slowly towards Raf.
Raf awkwardly gave a man hug to his dad and immediately pulled off after his dad patted him on the back.
“Stand up straight, boy. You move like a girl” His dad said patting him once again on the back. I saw Raf winced a bit but didn’t utter a word.
I would have loved to respond ‘Of course he moves like a girl, he’s a gay!’ but his dad scares me. He’s scarier than Christina!
So I just kept my mouth shut looking stupid watching them as I was standing at the side of the room.
“How’s your mom?” His dad asked as he paced slowly at the room looking at the furniture, “She does still have her work, isn’t she?” He continued to ask with a knowing tone. He stopped walking, now looking intently at Raf with a knowing smile on his lips.
I can see Raf restraining himself. As if he wanted to punch his dad asking about his mom and I’m confused why.
He inhaled deeply, “Yes” He plainly answered through gritted teeth.
Maybe I should just exit the room. I think I’m disturbing a family discussion here. I started to step my foot and turned slowly towards the door but Raf immediately gripped my left hand, squeezing it. I gazed up at his face but he wasn’t looking at me, for the second time he pressed my hand. I got the message, so I stayed put returning his gesture. His face softened when he felt my hand squeezed his.
I don’t have any clue what’s happening but I do know Raf needs me here.
His dad suddenly seated at the sofa then looked back at Raf once again, still smiling… I really don’t like his smile…
“She should be thanking me then” He said, confidence radiating on his voice.
“Why will she thank you?! You’re the reason—” Raf snapped but cut himself glancing at my direction. He ran a hand through his hair and I can see clearly that he doesn’t want me to hear his outburst.
I placed a hand on his arm and lightly caressed it. I looked at his dad and saw him still smiling but his eyes where a different matter. It screamed danger and anger. And it rhymes.
Be serious Scarlet!
Oh right. Sorry.
And I was right as he responded, “You don’t talk to your father like that. I’ve never heard Rupert’s voice rise when talking to me. Your mom didn’t raise you well”
“You. Have. No. Right. to say anything about my mom” Raf growled.
Instinctively, I gripped his arm firmly as I saw him shaking from his outrage. His hand that I’m not holding was clenched tightly and his eyes turned darker looking directly at his dad.
“Raf…” I whispered in a soft voice looking at him. Sighing loudly, he stared at my eyes and saw his eyes turned lighter when I smiled.
I wanted to ask so many questions but I know, now is not the time.
Suddenly I heard his dad snickered. We both looked back at him and saw him with a lopsided smile.
“Clearly. You didn’t have a proper supervision. With the way you talk, no manners… the way you dress, distasteful… the way you move, not a proper action of a straight man and… the way you choose friends…” He paused with a smirk then glanced at my direction, “Cheap”
Ouch! He just insulted me!
He should be thankful I have manners and my parents taught me not to disrespect my elders.
But what the hell?!!
Tell him he looks like a sugar daddy!
I would love to but my brain cells are still intact. I can’t fight Raf’s dad!
I didn’t even know Raf’s dad was like this. How did Rupert endured growing up with him?
Now Raf was breathing hard. His face was so red and if looks could kill, his dad would be dead, down on the floor right now.
His anger awhile back at the coffee shop can’t compare how he looks right now. Like any minute, he could kill someone.
I tried to calm him down by continuously rubbing his back and my other hand never leaving his. He was shaking and fuming while his dad was just staring at him with a small victorious smile on his lips.
“What’s going on?” Rupert’s voice echoed in the room as an eerie silence filled it.
All three of us snapped our heads to him, he has a confused expression on his face.
“Rupert. My son…” Their dad had that beaming smile as he stood up from his seat and went straight to Rupert hugging him. Rupert hugged him back but was looking at us with a ‘What happened?’ look on his face.
I glanced at Raf, he was still breathing hard looking down on the cold floor. Oh no, this is not good.
“I’ve received a call from one of your professors and he told me you were doing very well. He was quite delightful when he received the money I gave for the construction of the lab building” He informed Rupert with a proud look, “Keep up the good work son and soon you’ll run and be the President of our company”
Rupert smiled uncomfortably as he put a hand on the back of his neck, “Yeah… sure dad”
If his dad only knows what Rupert really wanted. Pfft!
Their dad is a… Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
“…See Rafael, you should be like your brother” He spoke now looking at a fuming Raf but Raf didn’t bother to look at him, “Smart, obedient, well-postured and well-bred—”
“Dad stop, please” Rupert cut his dad looking sorry at me and Raf.
“You don’t cut me while I’m talking Rupert! Is this what college taught you or maybe being with low-class people did this to you?” Their dad said in a serious tone.
Heaving a sigh, Rupert looked down saying, “Sorry dad”
Oh my god! I’ve never seen Rupert bow down like this.
Now their dad scared me more.
He can do anything and manipulate anyone with just a snap of his finger and just because… his rich?!
How can life be this so unjust and unfair!
Their dad rose his chin up with a victorious, confident smile, “Now… Rafael, I want you to be always on top of your classes. I want you to graduate with flying colors, be on top on med school and be one of the best surgeons in the state” He walked towards Raf and stopped when he was already a foot away from him. Raf slowly gazed up on his dad’s face. I was feeling the tension between them and I’m scared Raf might attack his dad so I tightly held his hand but hid on his back. I’m still scared of his dad! “Be like Rupert. Be a good son… and everything will still be on its right place. I’m a man of my words.”
Confusion overload!
I’m really a third wheel here!
Raf and his dad stared at each other eyes, both with an unreadable expression. I looked at Rupert and saw him blushed a little when he saw me looking. He mouthed ‘sorry’ at me, confused as ever, I just nodded not really know what to respond.
I was a bit startled when Raf swiftly moved walking towards the door dragging me by the hand. I smiled sheepishly at Rupert then look at their dad. He looked furious staring at *gulp* *gulp*… me. Again?
Why is he so mad at me?! I didn’t do anything!
Raf was walking fast still holding my hand. I tripped four times, Argh!, until we were outside the men’s dorm. Raf didn’t utter any word and I didn’t try to talk to him ‘cause I know his mad. His eyes were still a shade darker looking at thin air. He dropped my hand and run a hand on his hair. He breathed deeply as he pinched the bridge of his nose. I was just observing him, uncomfortable and scared with his every move.
I need to say something.
I sighed before speaking, “R-raf, c-calm down… s-say something, talk to me… please”
“What do you want me to say Scarlet?!! That I’m fine! I…—” Raf stopped when he saw my shocked face because of his outburst. He closed his eyes, inhaling deeply once again, “I-i… I need to be alone for a while karmiy”
I blinked stupidly staring at Raf’s retreating back.
I wanted to run and follow him. I wanted to hug him and tell him anything he wanted to hear to make him feel better but I didn’t…
He needs time for himself,
He needs to cool off for a while,
He needs to breathe fresh air to clear his mind.
So I stayed on my spot looking at the now empty road where Raf was walking awhile ago.
I felt very heavy and hurt, not because of his dad’s insult on me but of all the things that he said to Raf and Rupert.
He’s controlling and authoritative.
He doesn’t listen to anyone and only wants what he wanted. How can he be so cruel to Raf and Rupert? They’re his son for God’s sake!
I didn’t notice that my eyes were now stinging and a tear already fell on my cheek.
And why am I crying?!
For Raf.
I can feel Raf’s feelings. He’s hurt and I can’t do anything about it. If he could just open up to me and tell me what the hell is going on! Maybe I can think of anything to help him.
But I need to restrain myself. Like I said, Raf needs time.
Tears were now freely flowing on my cheeks. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned my head to look at the person and saw Rupert’s worried face. He smiled sadly placing his hands on the side of my cheeks. He wiped my tears using his thumb.
“I’m so sorry Scarlet—”
He tried to explain but I cut him as I shook my head. I was about to tell him that he shouldn’t be sorry and that I was just crying for Raf and also for him but he pulled me to him hugging me by the waist.
“Please… don’t cry” He whispered hugging me tightly
I don’t know why but my tears flowed more. I felt exhausted with all the things that happened so I just shut my mouth and for the first time… hugged Rupert back.
Unknown POV:
“No!!! This is not happening!! That slut Scarlet! She’s seducing Rupert! Noooo! HE. IS. MINE. He’s only mine! And no one will ever take him from me! No one!”
