"Uhm I don't know, I can't choose one" I say holding back tears
"What's the first thing that comes to mind?"
"Her ex boyfriend" I blurt out, that about sums it all up
"Why? Can you give me a bit of context?"
"Well it felt like she preferred him over me" I say crying
"When was the first time you felt like that happened?"
"Well when I was 9, mom left for two months without saying goodbye and it felt like she didn't want me"
"Alright, I'm going to bring mom in now okay sweetie, do you need a minute to calm down?" She asks and I nod I walk over to the restroom to wash my face with cold water
I remember the day dad told me mom had left, it was a few days after my ninth birthday, dad had full custody of me by then but I'd get to see mom at least once or twice a week for dinner, not that she ate much back then, and she wasn't her usual self, but I liked keeping mom company, it gave me a sense of security knowing I got to see mom but yet one day after I was so excited to go see her, dad had to break the news to me.
Mom had left and she hadn't said goodbye.
I missed her a lot, I didn't have much context as to what was happening, I get it now, she was having a hard time, but that feeling I got when dad told me i wouldn't be seeing mom for a while comes back every few weeks, back then I had no clue how long I would go without seeing her again; or if I would even see her.

Travis pov
"Hey babe?" I whisper into tays neck as she's still half asleep
"Mhm?" She groans
"I was wondering if I could take Kas golfing with me"
"She's grounded trav" she says still not opening her eyes
"I know babe, but i thought that i would be good for her to get out of the house before we leave to Paris, she hasn't really done anything but read"
"Fine, she can go"
"Okay thank you baby, I love you" I say pecking her lips
"Mhhm byee", she says running her fingers through my hair and going back to sleep
I chuckle at her, she must be exhausted, she spent all weekend working, getting things ready for tour.
I walk over to Kassies room and peek inside, knocking on the frame, Taylor still hasn't given in in to giving her her door back.
"Hey Kas"
"Hi"
"Do you want to come golfing with me?"
"No, I'm good" she says going back to her book
"Come on, this is the third week where all you do is read"
"Trav, I don't want to go" she groans
"How come?"
"I dont know, I'm just tired"
"It'll be fun"
"Fine, but under one condition"
"What is it?"
"I'll go with you if we can go to the store, I need more books"
"Yeah we can do that"
"Okay thanks" she says getting out of bed to get ready
"I'll be waiting downstairs" I tell her still from her door frame
"Does mom know?"
"Yeah, I got her to agree"
"Okay, I'll be right down"

"Next time you want a book, just make a list for me so that I don't keep messing up every time I buy you a book"
"I have a list, on my phone which your girlfriend took, tell her to give it back to me!!" She groans
"Suddenly she's not your mom, she's my girlfriend"
"Yeah, I'm still mad at her" she says rolling her eyes
"It's for your own good Kas, she's just trying to protect you"
"But she's so fucking unfair, it's not like I blacked out"
"I know Kas, but you also have to understand how your mom feels-"
"Can we just go inside?" She interrupts
"Yeah come on" I say as we get out the car and walk in to Barnes and nobles
Kas seems really excited to just walk in to the store
She goes directly to the romance section and immediately picks one up, I assume she's been wanting to read it, because she doesn't read the back or anything, she knows exactly what she wants
She picks out three more books, reading through them carefully picking the ones she thinks are the best
Soon she has three books in each hand but she doesn't seem to be finished
"You don't think that's a little too many books?" I chuckle
"This is only like a week worth of books and I have to be outside of my house for the next month with nothing else to do, at least at home I can find something else to do" she says walking over to the French books
"You know French? Tays never mentioned that"
"I don't"
"Then why do you need books in French?"
"Because I'm trying to learn it" she says and picks up three more books "im gonna go pay"
"No, hand them over here im paying"
"You don't have t-"
"But I want to, so give them to me" I say
I have to get Kas to like me, I know Taylor says she does but sometimes it feels like she genuinely hates me

After I take Kas to the bookstore, I tell her we're going to go golf like she had promised me she would
"Where are you going? the golf course is that way" she says after I make a wrong turn
"We're not going to the golf course"
"What no! We have to! That's what you told mom we were going, if she finds out I'm not where I'm supposed to she'll ground me for an entire month on top of the punishment I already have"
"Kas it's okay, your moms not finding out, come on, I say as i pull into a coffee shop"
"Are you sure? If she does we're both getting in trouble"
"I'm sure come on" I say getting out of the car "kas it'll be okay" I say before closing the door and soon she gets out too
"I'm going to order what do you want?"
"A matcha" she says looking nervous
"Same as always?" I ask and she nods so I order my coffee along with her usual matcha order
"Come on" I say coming back with our drinks and handing her drink to her, we go upstairs to the cafe balcony, its relatively empty in here but I know no ones upstairs
I pull out a chair for Kas and then sit down in front of her
"Hey, Kas?" I ask nervously
My leg keeps bouncing up and down from how nervous I am
"What?"
"There's something I've been meaning to ask you, but with you being grounded i haven't been able to get away from your mom" I say taking a pause "I love your mom, like a lot, I've never been in love with anyone like I am with her, she's the love of my life-" I say nervously
You never know what Kassies reaction is going to be, and it's understandable from what Joe did to them, so I know that I need her blessing to do this
"That's why I want to know what you think, because you're the most important person in your moms life, and I need your approval"
I take a deep breath, looking down at my hands before looking back up at her
"Can I ask your mom to marry me?"
