Juliette, Cristina, Izzie, and Meredith were all at joe's bar after a shift watching Derek and Preston playing darts.
"He's picturing my face. He's totally picturing that dart puncturing my skull." Cristina says. "Whoa! Look at that."
"Derek...Derek is picturing you." Juliette says, as Derek gave Meredith a heated glare.
"He called me a whore. He lost the right to picture me." Meredith replied.
"Hmm."
"So I fall asleep during sex." Cristina says. "So what? Ass!"
"Ass!" Meredith said.
"Ass!" Juliette also says wanting to also say ass.
"Oh, ass! Hey!" Izzie says as Alex walks by.
"Isobel Stevens has finally left the hospital." Alex said. "Does this mean heart patient dude finally kicked it?"
"I'm sorry. This section of the bar is for surgeons. We don't socialize with gynecologists." Izzie replied as Alex walks away.
"George!" Izzie says.
"Callie, George you guys made it!" Juliette said, wanting Callie to feel welcomed as she knew her friends weren't fond of Callie.
"Hey." Izzie said.
"Hi, Callie." Meredith says.
"Hi, Dr. Torres." Cristina said.
"Uh, gin and tonic and a beer." George told Joe.
At the Hospital-
"Why are they all in the hallway?" Meredith asked, as the interns walk in the hallway.
"Overflow from the ER." Juliette said.
"A paramedic told us an employee went postal. shot up a restaurant." Izzie says.
"I heard he got away." George replied.
"Really?" Meredith questioned.

"Two dead, 14 injured. The policeman say the gunman got away so there could be more incoming." Richard said to Burke.
"I could stay. We could send Bailey." Burke replied.
"No. You're our only cardiothoracic transplant specialist. You go get that heart." Richard says.
"Oh, forget it, Karev and Stark. I already asked." Cristina tells Alex and Juliette as Richard and Burke talk. "It's not going to...happen."
"Dr. Burke! Dr. Burke! I heard you were getting a heart. Can I go with you?" Alex asked.
"Can I go with too?" Juliette asked. "I have no patients"
"I asked first." Cristina said.
"You didn't get assigned any gunshot cases?" Burke asked Alex and Cristina.
"Well, yeah, but if you had put me on this when I asked I would've been free." Cristina replied.
"I didn't. I'm not doing anything." Alex said.
"No, he's on the gynie squad!" Cristina says.
"Not if you put me on this transplant. Please."
"Let's go, Karev and Stark." burke says.
"You can't be serious." Cristina replied.
"Whoo! See you later, Yang. Whoo!" Alex said.
"Bye Cristina." Juliette spoke.
"So who's the lucky patient?" Alex asked, inside the helicopter.
"Denny Duquette."
At Mercy West
"Two brothers tried to pass a semi on a double yellow and came out on the losing end of a head-on. Both are a match for your guy." doctor says to Preston, Alex, and Juliette.
"So we get our pick." Juliette said.
"It doesn't work like that." Burke said. "UNOS has already assigned who gets which donor."
"So who's retrieving the other heart?" Alex questioned, as another doctor headed their way.
"Took you long enough, Preston. Why is Junior one and Junior two here? Your ego get too big for one man to carry?" Erica questioned.
"Dr. Hahn here graduated second in our class at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Karev. Ask her who graduated first." Burke says.
"God." Erica replied.
"What the hell happened to my donor?" Burke asked.
"He went into v-fib." The doctor replied.
"I can see that." Burke started. "Give me the paddles. Karev, take over compressions! You gave epi?"
"Three rounds and shocked him twice." Doctor replied.
"I'm going to hit him again at 360. Clear! He's asystolic." Burke said.
"I don't get it. I mean, if the guy's already dead..." Juliette starts.
"And now his heart has joined the rest of him." Burke tells them.
"Hmm. So, we can't use it?" Alex asked.
"No, Karev, we cannot use it." Burke said. "The muscle is dead. The heart is useless."
"Dr. Burke?" Alex questioned, as Burke runs out of the room.
"Move, move, move, move, move!" Burke says, entering Erica's OR. "Stop right there! Don't move that scalpel! Not even a single slice!"
"Just because your donor's heart died doesn't mean I have to give you mine." Erica says to Burke.
"Is your patient higher on the transplant list?" Burke questioned. "Is he higher on the transplant list?"
"I have no idea." Erica replied.
"Well, neither do I. Karev, get UNOS on the phone now." Burke said.
"Oh, give me a break!" Erica spoke.
"Hey! Hey!" Burke says, as a surgeon picks up a scaple.
"What? Are you going to beat him up?" Erica questioned.
"If I have to." Burke replied.
"Ok, just hold on. It's pathetic, Preston. Really pathetic." Erica said.

"Your guys on an LVAD? He's probably up and walking around. My guy still needs his dobutamine drip." Erica said.
"That's the best you can do?" Burke questioned. "He can climb Mount Shasta on a dobutamine drip."
"As of this morning, Dr. Hahn's patient was 22 hundredths of a point ahead." The man on the phone said.
"That's basically a tie." Burke replied.
"Except that Dr. Hahn's patient was admitted into the transplant program before Mr. Duquette." Man on the phone spoke.
"How long before?" Burke questioned.
"17 seconds."
"17 seconds."
"Might as well be 17 weeks. It doesn't matter." Erica says, as Burke's phone rings.
"Hello?" Alex asked, answering the phone.
"Alex? Where's Dr. Burke?" Izzie asked, over the phone.
"What do you want?" Alex questioned.
"I wanted to know how the heart recovery is going." Izzie said.
"He's working on it." Alex replied.
"He's working on it?" Izzie asked. "So, he's operating then?"
"There were two donors, Izzie. Our guy's heart flatlined. And now he's trying to get the other guy's." Alex said.
"But there's a list." Izzie says.
"Yes. And the higher guy gets the heart." Alex tells her.
"Denny's getting sicker." Izzie replied.
"What?" Alex asked.
"Denny's getting worse by the second. His, uh, sats are in the eighties." Izzie replied.
"Izzie." Alex said.
"It's seventies. His sats are now in the seventies and dropping." Izzie tells him.
"Izzie, I'm not going to lie for you." Alex responded.
"Then put Burke on the phone!" Izzie said, Alex handing the phone to Burke.
"Flash pulmonary edema?" Burke asked. "Is it the LVAD? Is the LVAD working?"
"Absolutely." Izzie replied.
"Well, did you put him on a nitro drip?" Burke asked.
"Um, yes. Yes, of course." Izzie said.

"Preston, she could be putting paddles directly on his heart. He's still not getting this thing." Erica said.
"How's his blood pressure?" Burke asked Izzie.
"It's, uh, still dropping. 82 over 40." Izzie tells him.
"Then take him off the drip and put him on dopamine. Now! Don't hang up." Burke said. "According to my intern, Denny Duquette now qualifies as a 1A candidate for that heart. That puts him ahead of Dr. Hahn's patient."
"I'm out of here. This is just crap." Erica says.
"Dr. Hahn?" Man on the phone says.
"What?" Erica asked.
"If Dr. Burke wants to run labs, do an echo and a BNP to fully ascertain the status of his patient, we'll allow it." Man on the phone replied.
"That'll take an hour." Erica said.
"Is the donor stable?" Man on the phone questioned. "Dr. Hahn? Is the donor stable?"
"Yes, the donor is currently stable." Erica replied.
"In that case. Dr. Burke, you've got an hour to get those tests." Man on the phone said.
"Dr. Stevens?" Burke starts.
"I heard." Izzie replies.
"Good. Get going then." Burke tells her.

"It's been 30 minutes already. Is Stevens answering her page?" Burke asked Alex and Juliette.
"She probably busy getting test results." Juliette said.
"Did you call Bailey?" Burke questioned them.
"Well, she's not answering either." Alex tells him.
"You can check the chart all you want." Erica says. "You're not getting this heart."
"Well, you may not want it. His angiogram shows 30% LAD." Burke said.
"It's still not enough to give it to you." Erica says back.
"Dr. Burke. Hello." Izzie said answering the phone.
"Stevens. Where the hell have you been?" Burke asked. "Have you got the lab results?"
"Um...I'm working on that." Izzie replied.
"Stevens, I need answers. Stevens?" Burke asked.
"You should get back here. With the heart. As soon as you can." Izzie tells him.
"What the hell are you...what are you talking about?" Burke questioned.
"Preston." Izzie spoke.
"Izzie, what did you do?" Burke asked.
"Soon as I get confirmatory tests and labs to raise Denny's UNOS status, I will fax them over to you. Then you should waste no time getting back here. Because I don't know enough to know how long Denny will have once I start." Izzie said.
"Start? What did you do, Izzie? What did you do?" Burke questioned.
"I'm going to hang up now. Just hurry." Izzie tells him.

"According to my intern, Denny Duquette is in pulmonary edema. He has been intubated and placed on multiple IV drips." Burke said walking into the OR.
"So, Preston gets the heart. Great, let's open this guy." The doctor says.
"However, given this unusual situation and out of respect to Dr. Hahn, I'd like to confirm those results." Burke said.
"You just did." Alex replied.
"In person. I want to confirm them in person." Burke tells them.
"Are you kidding? By the time you get there, it'll be another hour. What are you up to, Burke? Why don't you just talk to your chief? Confirm the results with him." Erica said.
"Well, because of the shoot today...at the restaurant. All our attendings are still in surgery." Alex said.
"Exactly. Now, if you'd prefer, or I can just call UNOS and have them give me the heart. Or I can go and make sure that it really belongs to me." Burke says.
"Go." Erica tells him.
"Thank you." Burke said, Burke, Juliette, and Alex start to leave.
"I'm going back to Seattle Grace." Burke said. "You two stay here and protect my heart. If that woman so much as looks at a scalpel, tackle her. Do you understand?"
"Yes, sir." Alex said.
"Of course" Juliette said.

"What was that?" Bailey asked, at the hospital. "Were those gunshots?"
"Oh! Dr. Burke. I need some help!" Bailey yells, trying to help Burke.
Heyyyy guys here's chapter 15 hope you guys enjoyyy. The ending is kinda stupid, I couldn't really figure out where to put Juliette but decided to have her go with burke. Also Thank you soooo much for 1k reads on this book. This is my second book with 1k and I'm proud of myself. But anyways this is my last week of school and hopefully I will get another chapter up sometime this weekend. I also started writing my One Tree Hill book it's just pretty hard to do it without watching the show at the same time too but I won't be posting that book for awhile at least until I get more chapters pre made. One more thing if there is any punctuation ignore it because I like to type fast and I just don't realize the mistakes most times. But anyways thank you again for reading.
