The train I was on was ambushed, and many of the others died after the Nazis blew up a bridge. I'm lost somewhere in the soviet wilderness, I know nothing of where we are, or how to navigate.
I had enough ammo for a little bit of hunting with the other survivors, all the prey were gone from the forest, and the only thing I found was a pack of grey wolves, They killed one of us, and injured a few more, I'd even taken a bite to the calf, but i am determined to get to you.
We were able to start a fire, however, even the cooked wolf meat was dark and tough. Barely edible. We keep eachother company though, this is much better than Moscow. Most of the soldiers here were from leningrad, and then came south to Moscow after the germans fled.
After we'd eaten, we began walking to stay warm. 6 people stayed behind, their injuries made them almost incapable of marching, but these beautiful midnight stars remind me of your charming smile. Every step reminds me of the walks we had around the Volga river.
I pray that my return will be swift, and I will finally be able to embrace you, and we can run away to marry.
