Outfit of the Day
Violet yawned as she had woken up to an empty and looked at her alarm to see it was already 12:30 causing her to shoot up before she remembered they were on summer break. She smiled as she looked at her nightstand to see a note from Shawn 'Hey Gem! I knew you were going to sleep in, don't worry Eclipse and Caesar were fed before I left. Don't forget to take your medicine today, I'll be home early today. Have fun, don't cause too much trouble without me'. "He's always so thoughtful and I love that" she said to herself as she grabbed her pills taking them before throwing off her covers to make a sandwich. Hearing her footsteps, Eclipse came bounding over wagging her tail as she ran to the back door "You want out? Okay but you know the rules, no digging" Violet told her as she went to the back door unlocking the doggy door to let her out. Violet smiled as she watched her dog out the window, run laps around their backyard before she went to the kitchen, rubbing Caesar's head when he popped up on the counter "Hey buddy, how you doing" she greeted.
She watched her hands in the sink as she went to the fridge and grabbed mayonnaise, ham and cheese before going to her pantry for bread. After making her sandwich, she immediately scarfed it down and grabbed a bottle of water, downing that as well before letting out a burp causing her to laugh. "Geez I was hungry" Violet laughed before she thought about what she should do now and a thought came to mind as she thought about Shawn, wanting to do something nice for him as he's been taking care of her and her animals. "What would he like?" she hummed as she walked back and forth trying to think of an idea and as if time slowed down, her brain thought about when he talked about Angela, his ex girlfriend and the light in his eyes when he talked about her. "Bingo bango, seems like I need to do some research and match making" Violet said with a smirk as she went to her room to grab her laptop and start her research.
Violet found her laptop and opened it up as she turned her TV on to play some music and decided to play Taylor Swift being that she was on the topic of love. She hummed as she thought about how to find Angela and decided to do a simple name search "Angela Moore" and started to scroll, but then she remembered she had no clue what she looked like. "Fuck how do I find someone when I don't even know what they look like" she cursed before she decided to snoop through Shawn's things knowing he should have something. Violet got up and went to the room that Shawn seemed his though he never slept in it because of her, she found his suitcase and carefully started to look through every compartment. She almost gave up when she didn't find anything until she dug underneath his clothing to find a notebook of some kind and opened it "Hm what's this?" she questioned as she opened it reading through it as it seemed to be Shawn's journal log.
As she read and went through the journal, she noticed how in certain pages he spoke about Angela and what made it even better was there was a paper clipped picture of them together with their future plans and saw that Angela wanted to be a nurse. "Aw look at that smile and thank you Shawn" Violet cooed before she placed everything back to where she found it as she knew better than to getting caught as she went back to her room with the picture engraved in her brain. She cracked her fingers as she started to look into every single Angela that was a nurse until she found the one, it only took her about 10 minutes. "Finally" Violet huffed out as she clicked on the hospital that it said she worked at and saw that she was a nurse practitioner in California, which she thought was impressive. As she read the information that was under her picture, she noticed that Angela's business email was displayed and clicked it.
"Okay now that I've found her email. How exactly do I text her?" Violet questioned as she thought about what could she email her without seeming suspicious. She played with her hair as she continued to think of an idea before one came to mind as she made a fake email under the alias "Eclipse Hunter" and smiled at the thought of her having Shawn's last name. With her plan now in action, she wrote in the subject bar "Summer Project" and started to type "Afternoon Ms. Moore, I hope your day is going well. I'm a 9th grade student whose teacher appointed summer school work on future professions. I saw that you are a nurse practitioner, I've always wanted to work in the medical field and was wondering if I could use you for my project. Thank you for your time" and pressed send. "And now I wait for a response" Violet said with a smile as she closed the laptop knowing that she would get the notification on her phone.
Not even 5 minutes later, her phone buzzed and she quickly looked at the notification seeing that Angela actually emailed her back and that made her do a happy dance as she read the response "Afternoon Ms. Eclipse. I am honored for you to choose me as your project, I would love to help you out. I'm always excited to help young minds grow, just let me know what exactly you need to know and I'll be happy to answer." And with that response, Violet began her plan to get Angela and Shawn together, but first and most importantly she had to make sure that she truly approved of Angela for him. After an hour or two, Violet and Angela had gotten to know each other enough to where Violet actually had taken interest in her, but she still wasn't sure as she thought about how would they even get to California. "Hmm a vacation could work" Violet said out loud as she looked at her papers with notes on them not noticing Shawn come in the room.
"Vacation?" Shawn questioned and that made Violet jump as she quickly collected all her papers together before he could see them "Shawn! Jesus you scared me" she said as she looked up at him trying to calm her heart. "What you got there?" he questioned her as he pointed to her research causing her to bite her lip "Oh just some summer homework" she lied as she gave him one of the papers that talked about nurse practitioners to make her story believable. Shawn took the paper reading it and hummed "You wanna know something funny? My old friend Angela had dreamed of being one of these" and that made Violet snap up at him again "Oh yeah? That is funny" she said as she tried not to seem awkward taking the paper back. "But what is this I hear about vacation?" Shawn questioned and she nodded "I was thinking about doing a vacation or something since I've never been on one" she told him and that made him look at her in shock.
"You? Miss Richie Rich, has never been on vacation. I don't believe that" Shawn said to her in disbelief which made her laugh "Yeah I know right. With my all money and I have yet to ever go on vacation, I've always wanted to go on one though I've just been busy with school and my stupid health." Shawn looked at her "Well then that's settles it we are going on vacation, I got some free time" he told her and that made her smile "Oh yeah? Can we go to Nevada? I've always wanted to see the Grand Canyon! I'll literally pay for it" Violet offered. She didn't want to immediately mention California until she was fully set on Angela and she couldn't contain her excitement when he nodded as she jumped on him in which he immediately caught her. "If that's what you want to do then sure Gem. We can go first thing tomorrow if we get the plane tickets tonight" Shawn told her which made Violet nod "I'll go ahead and do it now" she said as she got down and opened her laptop to look up ticket prices.
Violet eyes widened at the ticket prices but shrugged because she wanted them to have first class as she typed in her card information to buy the tickets. "How much?" Shawn questioned as he clutched his heart when she said "About $2,818" like it was no big deal as he stared at her as if she was crazy "You did not just spend that much money" he said to her. She nodded with a smile on her "I surely did and that's not bad. It's a one way first class trip because I will not be flying anything less when I have to fly with Eclipse. I need all the space plus you deserve to be spoiled Shawn" she told him as she read the information and what time they would departure "Okay so we need to be there before 6:30 am and we'll get there by 9:09 am" she said as she showed him the itinerary in which he approved of. Violet was excited that they'd be going on vacation together as she knew this trip would bring them closer together if that was even possible before she blinked "I'm gonna have to ask Lucas to watch over Caesar while we're gone so that he doesn't get lonely orrrr I can always get another cat. I have been thinking about it" she hummed.
Shawn looked at Violet raising a brow "You want another cat?" he questioned and she quickly nodded her head "Yeah I've been debating it so that he doesn't get lonely, he's only a year old and I know he gets lonely when I take Eclipse out and don't get me wrong I do take him on walks too, but it's hard to pay attention to my health and two animals" she explained. He listened to her explanation and nodded "I mean there's still time in the day. We can go look at-" he couldn't even finish his sentence as Violet had tackled him "Really!? Oh my god I love you" she said to him before her eyes widened at what she said. Shawn eyes widened at her statement "Gem?" he said and she immediately started to freak out "I- Shawn I'm" Violet wasn't sure what to say as her eyes pricked with tears. He noticed the tears and immediately wiped them off her face as he cupped her cheeks "Hey no crying. I love you too Gem" he reassured her as he kissed her head making her calm down.
Violet's efforts in calming down was almost successful until the tears burst from her eyes when he said it back as she looked at him "You mean it?" she asked with hopeful eyes. Shawn freaked out slightly at the tears as he continued to wipe her tears nodding his head "Yeah, I've been meaning to tell you but wasn't sure of the right circumstance to say it. I'm not really good with my emotions" he explained and that made Violet smile as she sniffled up her tears. She tried to calm her breathing as her heart started to beat a little too fast for her liking as she gripped his arms and tried not to freak out. He took notice of her behavior as simply pulled her into his chest stroking her head in an attempt to calm her down and it worked slightly but she still felt as though she couldn't breathe "Inhaler" she asked and he pulled the spare she gave him out of his bag and handed it to her.
She took her two pumps and released a heavy breath before her breathing and heart regulated back to normal "And that's why I don't express my emotions" Violet joked as she wiped her tears shaking her head from any more emotions. She looked at him smiling "Okay now that that's out of the way, I'm gonna get dressed so that we can look at kitties" she told him as she grabbed her clothes before going to the bathroom. Shawn shook his head smiling "She's really excited about this" he said to himself as he placed her inhaler back in his bag and sat on the bed waiting for her to finish getting ready. After a good 15 minutes, Violet came out of the bathroom and went to Shawn with two scrunchies and a brush as she handed them to him causing him to smile. "Panda ears with bangs?" he questioned and Violet nodded "I like when you do it"" she admitted as she sat in front of him and he immediately started to brush her hair "Only because you forced me to learn" he joked as he started to do her hair with focus as he knew she was a perfectionist.

Once he was finished, Violet got up and checked it out in her mirror smiling when she saw how good she looked as she walked back to him "Thank you" she told him before pulling him up. Shawn shook his head "You know it's never a problem" he reassured before chuckling at her excitement as she pulled him out of the house but not before she bid both her animals goodbye. Violet handed Shawn car keys in which he looked at her in confusion "We can't take your motorcycle. What if we actually find one" she said to him and he nodded before looking at her again. "Since when do you have a car? I know you have your scooter but what car do you have?" Shawn questioned and Violet could only giggle as she walked to her garage that was slightly open and pushed it up. "Why do you think my garage is always open slightly? I don't always want to go from the inside especially with my forgetfulness" she explained as she walked to a car that was covered by a sheet and pulled it off.
Violet's Car
"This is my baby Roxanne, it was a gift for my 13th birthday from Evelyn. I only have my permit since I can't get my license until I'm 16, I don't drive her very often just so that I don't get caught up even though I'm a safe driver" Violet explained as she walked to the passenger side of the car. Shawn was very impressed with the model of the car as he took a walk around before unlocking the door and getting in "I like it. I never knew you were into cars" he told her and she nodded "Oh yeah I'm a grease monkey anything with mechanics I'm always down. Why do you think your bike stop making that weird clanking sound? There was something wrong with the alternator so I paid for the part and fixed it" she said to him. Shawn was very impressed and made sure to keep that information noted "Well thanks Gem. Now let's go ahead and head to the shelter to look at some cats" he said as he backed out of the garage.
Violet shook in excitement as she was so excited to see what new animals they had at the shelter, she sometimes volunteered when she had the time. She wanted to become a foster parent but she knew that she'd have so many foster fails because of how big her heart was "I really appreciate you Shawn" she told him with a grin as they pulled into the parking of the closest shelter. "No problem Sky and it's kinda funny how you live next to an animal shelter" Shawn said to her as she looked away innocently. "It was purposefully done so just in case of times like this" she admitted as she took off her seatbelt and got out the car with him following suit after he locked the door. He shook his head at her as he followed her before opening the door for them both and watched as she greeted the workers "Cheryl, Stacy, Luna, Justin what's up".
"Harley Quinn, you're back! I was wondering when we'd see you again" Luna greeted as she came and hug Violet with a smile before looking behind her "And who is this gentleman, he seems a bit too old for you" she teased. Violet playfully pushed her "I know right he's a cutie isn't he. But no seriously, this is Shawn, he's just my-" she started to say and looked to him for help in which Shawn stepped up slightly "I'm just a friend of her mom" he said as he knew it did look weird for them to be together. "Anyways I'm here to look at cats" she told them as she looked at Luna who nodded "Right sorry you know I'm nosy. Looking for a friend for Caesar" she asked. "Yeah I'm starting to leave the house more and I don't want him to be so lonely all the time" Violet explained as they were taken to where the cats and kittens were located and Violet immediately melted as she cleansed her hands before looking at the cages.
Shawn stood close behind as he wanted to see what her choice would be, he could feel the happiness rolling off of her as she stuck her fingers through the cages to pet the kittens. "They are so cute oh my gosh" Violet cooed before she went over to the older cats frowning when saw the prettiest orange and white cat named Cake who meowed at her. She quickly walked over and Stacy opened the cage for her as she picked up the cat and read her information seeing that she's been in the shelter for 5 months. Her heart melted at the purrs when she cuddled her in her arms and she knew her heart was set but her eyes noticed another cat that was black and white and had been in the shelter for the same amount of time. Violet noticed its name was Oreo and her heart broke as she looked to Shawn who seemed to notice her dilemma of wanting both cats since they've been in the shelter the longest "You want both of them don't you?" he questioned.
Violet nodded with tears in her eyes "They've been here for so long. Cake was surrendered to the shelter because her owners died and she's only 3. And it appears that Oreo shared the same fate and he's 2. What if they were housed together? Nobody adopts older cats and I can't possibly leave them here, can I? she asked as she had placed Cake back in her cage before grabbing Oreo when Stacy handed him over. Her heart melted even more when he reached out for her as she looked at Shawn again and walked over to him. Shawn bit his lip as he knew that it would be a bigger responsibility but he knew she could handle it "If you believe that you can handle 3 cats and a dog then I say go for it. I love how big your heart is" he told her and that made her smile as she handed Oreo over to him as he caressed him happily making Oreo immediately purr. "Both of them? Quinn you are a true angel" Cheryl said as she popped her head into the room, she knew how much of an animal lover Violet was and this just showed it even more.
Violet nodded "Caesar needs company and they will be 3 peas in a pod I just know it. He loves other cats and lucky enough for me, these babies are good with other animals" she said as she watched Shawn hand Oreo back to Stacy who put him back in the carrier. "Okay well you already know the drill, we need you to sign some paper work, pay the adoption fee and we'll have these 2 babies checked out then they'll be ready to go home" Stacy told them and Violet nodded as they went back into the main room and signed the paperwork as she pulled out her wallet to pay, but Shawn stopped her. "You already paid for the plane tickets let me pay for your new babies" he told her as he paid Justin the $50 with no problem and after that they waited for a good 5-10 minutes and out came Cheryl and Stacy with the cats in separate carriers. "They already have all their shots up to date and as you know they are both spayed and neutered as well as microchipped which you'll have to enter your information" Luna said and Violet nodded as both her and Shawn took a cat and thanked them before leaving the shelter.
"Well I think that went well" Violet said sheepishly as they placed the cats inside the car and immediately when they got into the car, Violet took both cats out of their carrier and had them in the front seat. "You are too much Gem, we came for 1 and somehow came out with 2" Shawn said shaking his head in disbelief as he starts the car and smiled when Cake decided to climb into his lap immediately laying down making Violet coo "That's so cute". She looked at Oreo and thought about it "Hm I might keep Cake's name but I'm thinking of changing Oreo's name. It's too basic and you know me I'm not basic" she said as they started on their way back home. Shawn carefully stroked Cake as he drove them home and smiled as he knew Violet was happy with their choice "Oh yeah, you're definitely not basically what so ever" he agreed as they pulled into the driveway. Violet carefully got out of the car and pulled the garage door down to where she had it "Okay now time to introduce these babies to their little brother. And luckily for me I keep extra cat toys and collars for when Caesar mess up his. I just have to order a bigger cat tower so that they can share" she told Shawn as she went back in the car and grabbed Oreo looking at him. "Zorro, you shall now be named Zorro after my favorite anime character" she said and the cat now renamed as Zorro seemed to meow in agreement which made her smile "Yep Zorro it is" she hummed.
Zorro meowed at her again as he pawed at her necklace causing Violet stroke his head before she made her way into the house with Shawn following behind her "That's a good strong name" he told her as he had Cake who seemed to be chilling on his shoulders like a parrot. "Caesar bubby where are you" Violet called out as she closed the door behind them and heard the bell from his collar seeing her Calico cat hop on the counter looking at the cats in curiosity. She placed Zorro down and encouraged Shawn to do the same with Cake as they watched them nervously walk around to explore the house. "No hissing is a good sign. So I'll just monitor them every now and again but for right now I need to start ordering some things for them" Violet told Shawn as she walked to the living room pulling out her phone. She ordered an automatic cat feeder that feeds 2 cats, a big cat tree, another automatic litter box and 2 harnesses and looked at the total seeing it come up to about $360.
"I spoil my animals too much" Violet said as she ordered the stuff and knew that they would need bowls to use for now so she got up and went into her cat room. She went into the closet and grabbed 2 of the double sided bowls placing both in their own separate spaces before filling them up with food and water. When she was done with that she remembered that she had to set up their microchips and went to her email, immediately doing what she needed to do. Violet sighed in contentment as she felt good about her new fur babies as she grabbed 2 collars from the drawer and went to go find them. A smile came across her face as she saw the scene in front of her eyes which consisted of Caesar, Zorro and Cake playing with each other and immediately pulled out her phone to take pictures and record some videos before she handed Shawn a collar to place on Cake.
She bent down and placed the collar around Zorro's neck smiling at the bell sounding off from the collar "Now we can hear you guys" she said scratching his head before she let him resume playing with Caesar as Shawn did the same with Cake. "Do you know what you want for dinner?" he asked her even though he knew that she would be cooking if she chose to want something that they could make at home but he smiled when she said wanted pizza. "Pizza sounds good. Do you want to order or make it fresh?" Violet asked him and that made Shawn think "Hmm? I've always wanted to learn how to make it so why not" he told her. She nodded "I have faith that you won't burn this" she teased as she looked at the time seeing that it was already 6:45 "Jesus time has been moving, let's get a move on because it's gonna take a while for it to cook" she said to him as she went to the kitchen to wash her hands.
Violet washed her hands with hot water before drying them off and grabbed her ingredients: yeast, sugar, salt, flour and olive oil to make homemade pizza dough. She preheated her oven to 450 degrees before she grabbed shredded mozzarella cheese from the fridge. "Any toppings you want?" she asked Shawn who nodded "Pepperoni and bacon with olives" he told her. Violet nodded as she went back in the fridge and grabbed the pepperonis, Italian sausage, bacon bits and her jar of black olives placing them on her island. "Okay so you're in charge of the dough and I'll be making the sauce. Don't worry you won't mess it up I'll be coaching you" she told him as she gave him a reassuring smile. Shawn nodded as he looked at the ingredients in front of him as Violet gave him a bowl before moving back to her station after she grabbed another bottle of olive oil, garlic, can of crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt and pepper.
She placed on her cooking apron to not get her clothes dirty before grabbing a bowl of her own and looked over at Shawn who awaiting instructions nervously. Violet calmed him down before she started to give the instructions on how to make the dough step by step and turned her attention back to what she was doing as she started to make the sauce for the pizza. Shawn carefully listened to each and every instruction and did his best to make the pizza dough as he knew Violet could sometimes be like Gordon Ramsey when it came to cooking. After Violet finished making the sauce, she moved over to Shawn watching him knead the dough "I'm proud of you! And hear I thought I'd have to yell at you like I do to Lucas" she joked before she grabbed flour and spread it across the counter "I'll take over now I like tossing it into it's shape" she told him as he handed her the ball watching as she stretched it and rolled it flat before she started to professionally toss the dough into the air. Shawn didn't think he could be more proud of her but once again he was wrong.
After 10 minutes, they were decorating their halves of the pizza before it was placed in the oven. Violet felt accomplished as they cleaned up their mess before looking at each other "Shower time while the pizza cooks?" she questioned and Shawn agreed as they went their separate ways to freshen up. She quickly showered after removing her makeup and placing her hair down sighing in content as the hot water hit her skin "I can't forget to text and show Cowboy my newest addition to my fur babies" she said to herself as she turned off the water and dried off. Her eyes scanned her closet for something to put on and decided on a hoodie that she robbed from Shawn and some shorts before walking back out to the kitchen to check on the pizza. Violet noticed that it was almost done as she gave out treats to her animals before she grabbed her phone from the counter and took a picture of Cake and Zorro before sending it to Lucas.

Lucas had responded quickly "They are so cute! What made you decide on getting more cats? Also how was your day, we haven't talked all day" and that made Violet smile before feeling bad as he was right. She immediately responded "Thank you! I was originally only getting one because I'm going away for a while with Shawn and Caesar was going to need company being that I'm taking Eclipse. They both caught my heart so we got them both and sorry I was busy today planning a surprise" and looked up from her phone when she heard footsteps. Shawn raised a brow at her "Who got you smiling?" he teased as she rolled her eyes "I was showing Lucas our newest additions" she explained as she went to check the pizza and saw that it was ready. She grabbed mittens and carefully pulled the pizza out of the oven cutting it into 8 pieces "Now it has to cool" she told Shawn as she smacked his hand from grabbing a slice.
Violet facepalmed as she looked at Shawn "I almost forgot, I need to tell him about watching them and about the delivery" Violet said in disbelief as he handed her phone over to her so that she could text Lucas. "Oh yeah could you watch them while I'm gone. They'll be fine now that they have each other but they need human interaction every now and again. I'll bake you something if you do it for me please. They also have things being delivered if you could set it up for me" she had texted him and smiled when he agreed "Yeah of course, you know I love cats and I'm glad that you rescued them. I can't wait to meet them! I have to go, mama is calling me for dinner if I don't text back, see you in the morning". After giving the pizza a few minutes, Violet had poured them both some juice as Shawn set the table for them and they both chowed down once their butts hit their chairs.
Shawn hummed in happiness as he finished his slices and looked to Violet who was still eating hers and he couldn't help but to smile when he realized she was wearing his hoodie. He thought he had lost it when in reality his Gem had stolen it from under his nose "Nice hoodie" he teased causing her to blush as she finished her last slice and gave him a wink. "Oh you like it? I got it from the Hunter foundation" Violet replied before wiping her hands "You did a good job on the dough" she praised causing him to laugh "Hm maybe I should check that out and thank you I had a great teacher." Violet smiled at him brightly at the compliment before she picked up their dishes to wash them and put them away, yawning as she did so causing Shawn to look over "Someone's sleepy" he teased as she nodded "Mhm today was a long day."
He couldn't help but to agree "Yeah I hear ya" as he stood up stretching out his limbs as he let out a yawn as well "Bedtime it is then huh" he questioned as he looked down when he felt nails on his legs, it was Cake. Shawn scooped up the cat, scratching behind her ear "Hi sweetheart, you just wanted attention huh?" he cooed as he looked back over to Violet who nodded "Yeah and we can leave the door open in case they want to sleep in the room. "Sounds like a plan" he said as they walked to the room and it was as though their animals knew what they were talking about as they all followed as well causing Violet to laugh "It seems we'll have a full room for the first portion of the night." Shawn laughed with her "It would appear that way" before he placed Cake on the bed and turned on the TV, putting on a cartoon as he went to his side of the bed.
"Good thing I upgraded to a king size bed" Violet joked as she got comfortable on the bed and felt Zorro jump on the bed and lay at her feet with Cake joining him "It's crazy how they use to live together and now once again they're doing the same thing" she said to Shawn who nodded. Her eyes looked for Caesar and Eclipse knowing they followed behind them and she smiled when she saw them sharing Eclipse's big dog bed like they usually do when they sleep with her. Shawn loved the fact that they were all together as he got comfortable on his back and felt Violet start to move closer to him slowly making him laugh and tugged her carefully onto him "You do this almost every night Gem, don't start acting shy on me now." Violet blushed slightly as she rolled her eyes playfully "I can't help it. I just- it's weird that I'm close to you so I still something get nervous and revert back to square one" she explained.
Shawn listened as he placed his hand on her head "And like I tell you every time, you are safe and I'm not going to hurt you Gem, I promise" he told her as she nodded with a smile and snuggled into him. "Thanks for being here, it means a lot" Violet told him as she started to doze off to sleep while she listened to his heartbeat making Shawn smile and kiss her head "Night Gem." It was a long day for the both of them and as if it wasn't possible they were even closer than before especially with Violet telling Shawn that she loved him, but he knew better than to bring it back up and allowed it to be a special moment for them both. Shawn glanced down at Violet once more as he kissed her head and allowed himself to doze off to sleep.

Disclaimer: I hope you guys enjoyed it! I know I said it was gonna be out last week but I ended up busier than I thought. Thanks for those who gave me ideas I hope you enjoy Violet and Shawn's day together and don't worry next chapter I'll write about them spending more time together before Violet arrange for them to meet Angela. Oh yeah, hehe Violet dropped the L-bomb I thought it was nice touch being that it was said out of the blue and of course Shawn cares about her as well. Also she now has more cats hehe Violet's about to be a cat lady if she doesn't stop lol. But yeah! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter it was kinda hard but the next chapter should be out later today or tomorrow depending on if I can get out of this writers block.
