I used to be a normal home
one of joy and happiness
love and loyalty
It was only when so
many people shut the door
and rattled the walls
that I realized
how weak the foundation
really was
I feel like a doormat
being stepped on
replaced
So when the walls
and doors
came crashing down
I build a fortress
one of stones and cement
cold and suffering
A place
that would never need
a doormat
I know you'll
be mad when
I don't take you back
But I'm sick and tired
of being just
a doormat
I know you'll be mad
when you come running
home
you'll blame me for
shutting the door
except you forget
that you're the one who
built the fortress around
my heart
