The girls gathered around the table at their favorite café, the warm aroma of coffee filling the air as they settled into their seats.
Despite the cozy atmosphere, the girls only wanted to know one thing... what happened between Joshua and Yumi that night.
Yumi didn't said anything, she even avoid talking with the girls but today Hana went to her house and didn't let her say no.
Sunhee sighed, stirring her latte absentmindedly as she glanced around the table. "I can't believe it's been two weeks since you've been with us. I'm sorry I try to set you up"
"You overstepped a little bit" Yumi said before sipping on her coffee " we didn't need to talk. He said everything he wanted to though"
Areum narrow her eyes with concern. "It's like both of you disappeared off the face of the earth. I've tried reaching out to Joshua but he's avoiding me like you were"
"I wasn't... I just didn't wanna talk. What I think I had with him ended before it ever begin"
Gyuri frowned. " I thought you would have talked things out by now. What did he said?"
"It's better that we stay away from each other. He's letting the rumors take control of him and his life. I just wished my heart would take the hint"
"I wish there was something we could do to help." Sunhee said holding Yumi hand
Sunhee exchanged a knowing glance with the other girls, silently acknowledging the tension that lingered between them. " You are helping, all of you. I can't even read because I think of him"
"Read dark romance book then" Areum said trying to get her to smile
"Yumi. It's been two weeks since you and Joshua last spoke, and we're worried about you." Sunhee said " if he's still in your mind..."
"I'm... I'm okay, I guess. It's been tough , but I'm trying to stay busy and focus on other things. It's not like we were in love"
Sunhee reached out and placed a comforting hand on Yumi's arm, her voice gentle. "You don't have to pretend. Like you said what you thought you had ended before even started"
Yumi's eyes got teary at Sunhee's words, her facade crumbling as she "I miss him. I miss his texts, I miss his flirting and I miss his smile"
The other girls nodded in understanding, their own eyes misting with sympathy for their friend's pain. They had all been through heartbreak before, and they knew firsthand how difficult it could be to move on from someone you loved.
"I know it's hard, Yumi," Areum said, her voice softenough.
Yumi wiped away her tears, her resolve strengthening as she met her friends' unwavering gazes. "But now I need to move on"
Today the restaurant was chaotic, Sunhee stayed home because Pea was feverish and the restaurant was fully booked.
The night air was crisp and cool as Yumi locked up the restaurant. She took a deep breath, relishing the quiet solitude that enveloped her as she stepped out onto the empty street.
As she made her way back to her apartment, Yumi couldn't shake the feeling of unease that prickled at the back of her neck. It had been two weeks since she received any calls or roses and she's been able to rest her mind.
As she arrived home, Yumi kicked off her shoes and sank onto the couch, exhaustion washing over her in a wave. It had been a busy night at the restaurant, and all she wanted to do was collapse into bed and forget about the world for a while.
But as she began to get up to go to her bedroom she felt something.... Something she couldn't shake off, she felt like she was being watched.
Her apartment it's on the first floor and she didn't care about that until now. She looked outside and felt like someone was watching her.
Yumi tried to brush off the feeling, telling herself that she was just tired and overworked. But the sensation persisted, growing stronger with each passing moment until it felt as though she was suffocating under its weight.
With a shaky breath, Yumi made her way through the apartment, checking each room carefully for any sign of intruders. But there was nothing – no open windows, no unlocked doors, just her there and her uneasy heart.
As she returned to the living room, Yumi's heart skipped a beat as she caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye – a shadowy figure standing just beyond the reach of the streetlights, watching her with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine.
"What?" Yumi said , her voice trembling with fear as she reached for her phone.
Her fingers were shaking but she calls Sunhee.
"Hey-"
"Someone is here" she said
"What?!"
"I know you have Pea sick but can Dk come here? I'm freaking out" Yumi begged and she heard some keys
"Joshua is going I guess. He was here with Wonwoo too, they wanted to help with pea. He's coming, just stay home and grab a knife if needed"
"Joshua?!"
"Babe he flew. He should be there in minutes"
She waited, she stood there in her kitchen trying to stay calm. Her mind was drifting to the figure outside.
The knock on her door scared her but she heard a familiar voice.
"Sweets, open"
"Joshua, what are you doing here?" Yumi's voice wavered as she spoke, her heart pounding in her chest as she open the door
Joshua hesitated, his gaze flickering away from Yumi's as he struggled to find the right words. "I... I just ran out. I needed to make sure you were okay."
Yumi's brow furrowed in confusion, a mixture of relief and anger swirling within her. "I'm mad at you but can you see if the man is still outside"
"No ones outside. I triple checked. But I'm gonna stay the night"
"No you're not" Yumi anger was visible
"I'm staying or you're leaving. Choose "
"I'll stay you leave. Easy"
"Sweets...." He glared at her
Yumi's anger began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of sadness "Why are you doing this? One minute we were kissing, and the next you were avoiding me like the plague and now you're here!"
Joshua took a step closer to Yumi, his gaze searching hers for any sign of forgiveness. "I'm sorry. I panicked. I can't be the reason Seventeen image gets damage.I didn't know how to handle my feelings for you, so I pushed you away instead. But doesn't mean I don't care"
"You can take the couch. Everything is locked...." she said wrapping her arm around her "are you sure there's no one outside?"
Joshua reached out and took Yumi's hand in his, his touch warm and reassuring. "I'm here. Go to sleep, no one it's getting in"
Yumi gazed into Joshua's eyes, seeing the sincerity and vulnerability that lay behind his words.
Yumi tossed and turned restlessly in her bed, the sheets tangled around her legs as she struggled to shake off the feeling of unease that clung to her like a suffocating blanket. Despite Joshua's reassuring presence in the living room, she couldn't shake the nagging suspicion that someone was watching her from outside.
With a sigh, Yumi threw back the covers and padded quietly into the living room, where Joshua sat on the couch, his eyes fixed on the tv. He looked up as Yumi approached, a concerned furrow marring his brow.
"Hey... Is everything okay?" Joshua asked, his voice laced with concern as he took in Yumi's troubled expression.
Yumi hesitated for a moment, chewing nervously on her bottom lip as she debated whether or not to voice her fears.
"I... I can't shake this feeling. Like someone's watching me from outside," Yumi admitted, her voice barely above a whisper as she glanced towards the window, shrouded in darkness.
Joshua's expression softened as he reached out and took Yumi's hand in his, his touch warm and reassuring. "I'm here. Look at me" he cupped her cheeks "no one's there sweets. Only me"
"Can you sleep with me?" She asked him
Joshua nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Sure"
With a sense of relief washing over her, Yumi led Joshua back to her bedroom, where they settled into bed together, the warmth of Joshua's body pressed against hers a soothing balm to her troubled mind.
As they lay there in the darkness, Yumi liked the warmth Joshua radiates.
Leaning in close, she pressed her lips to Joshua's, the kiss soft and tentative at first before deepening into something more intense and passionate.
Joshua responded eagerly, his arms wrapping around Yumi as he pulled her closer, their bodies melding together in a tangle of limbs and desire. In that moment, all of Yumi's fears and insecurities melted away, replaced by a sense of overwhelming love and longing for the man lying beside her.
Breaking apart, they gazed into each other's eyes, their breath coming in ragged gasps as they struggled to catch their breath. "Yumi," Joshua whispered, his voice hoarse with emotion. "I'm still scared about the rumors"
"I only ask you one more time just because your body says the truth but are you sure. Give us a try"
"You making this hard for me"
"Oh I know" she smiled and he kissed her again softly
Yumi's heart swelled with happiness at Joshua's declaration, her own feelings echoing his as she whispered back, "is that a yes?"
He kissed her again and she laughed as he wrapped his arms around her.
And in that moment, as they lay entwined in each other's arms, they knew that they had found something special.
And as they fell asleep in each other's arms, the darkness outside fading into the soft light of dawn, they knew that they were exactly where they were meant to be... together.
