Osas could not believe the nightmare she just lived through, she wasn't expecting them to welcome her with open hands but treating her like a common glitch, a lowlife, an instigator a gold digger
She didn't see that coming especially not from Raphael himself. That broke her
And seeing the way he treated his woman with so much love and respect brought osas straight to tears
Mrs Helen much have noticed that Osas was about to lose control of her emotions coz she walked osas out of the room to the other living room
She asked Osas what she wants to do now because it was really late and osas was exhausted and drained out
She worked all night and now she had to wait the whole day for this calamity to unfold
So she told Mrs Helen that she just want to go home and rest, She didn't have the energy to keep this going.
After Raphael and his fiancé left Mrs Helen suggested Osas spend the night in one of their guests rooms. Maybe if the circumstances was different osas would have jumped at the idea and agreed to spend the night and be ecstatic about it but she couldn't sleep a wink here with the way she had just been treated like trash by her daughter's father
Mrs Helen was being very nice and considerate coz it was already very late she asked her driver to give osas a ride to her house. She gave osas her card and asked her to reach out to her as soon as possible so they could discuss this matter comprehensively
While in the car on the drive home Osas was crying like a baby with catarrh coming out from her nose, she can't remember the last time she cried so much. She hardly ever cries
It was a protruding pain in chest and it brought her uncontrollable tears. The driver was kind enough to pass the box of tissues to her Osas was blowing her nose and soaking the tissues with her tears
She didn't want to litter the fine car with her but she couldn't help herself. She was hurting so much and even riding in a fancy car didn't make her feel any better
The ride was shorter than she would have preferred coz she still have bundle of tears waiting to pour out and she didn't want to cry in the room with the other girls
She will be too ashamed to even talk about what she just went through.
She hopped down from the car and said goodbye to the driver.
Ejiro and Joyce were sitting outside on a bench so they saw her come out a black shinning Range Rover
Osas mumbled hello to them and March straight to their room but obviously the girls followed her out of curiosity
"Efosa! Where you take see motor wey just drop you naw naw" Ejiro asked
"What kind of a question is that, is she a baby??"
Joyce replied her
"Madam Abeg let me talk to my cousin. Osas where you dey see that kain big car"
Osas was busy taking her clothes off
"Talk na"
"They offered me a ride home"
"Who's they?"
"Eyyy Osas don meet better person for island oo shey me sef I no go change location like this"
Joyce wondered
"Osas that's a very expensive car, how did you meet someone with such an exotic ride"
"I just did" she mumbled
"You can't be hopping into rides of people you don't know, this is Lagos ooo. You can't just trust strangers like that, they could be leading you into a trap "
"Am not a child.... No one is going to trap me"
"Is not by age osas this people can be very fetish and before you know it they don put something for you your body you don't know what they are doing anymore and they are pinning you down somewhere for ritual"
"God forbid!" Joyce rejects it
"Haba which kain talk be that, why are you always thinking negative what if he is really a gentleman and he wants something serious. There are actually good men out there. Oya osas tell us is he asking you out? Are you guys dating? What's the update??"
"Oya nah Osas talk"
When she didn't answer
"Let's leave her for now, she looks a bit upset let's come back for the gist later"
Joyce was sensible enough to see that Osas was just not in the mood
"What are you telling me, She didn't come home last night and now she shows up in a sleek Range Rover and it obviously looks like something is wrong yet you don't expect me question her"
"Oh so now you suddenly care, some days I go dey for road till 11pm you no go even flash me. When I didn't come home yesterday did you bother to check up on me or even find out if am still breathing and you know I no get anybody for this Lagos yet you choose not to bother about me but when I show up in Range Rover you are suddenly concerned about my well being. Guy Abeg Abeg stop all these high service e no balance "
She snaps at her cousin
Then she took a bucket from the room with her towel and walk out
She couldn't get water to bath so she had to come back inside and prepare to sleep like that
She laid on the floor coz even though her cousin has a bed she has never even for once suggested that they share it together
That made Osas even more sad, her current living condition is unpalatable but she put up with it because she thought it was going to be worth it
But the boy she came all the way to Lagos for feels disgusted by her. Maybe if she had dressed up a little bit more stylish he wouldn't have looked at her like a low grade baby mama wannabe
Osas thought of her beautiful daughter Ivie and even though it was passed her bedtime she still decided to call and hear her voice
She tried her luck and Ivie picked the call
"Hello Aunty Osas, good evening ma"
"Ivie!" Her voice breaks in joy
She didn't realize how much she missed her until she heard her voice
"How are you my love"
"Am fine aunty Osas and you"
Osas nodded her head as if she can see her
"Am okay too" she tried to hard the pain in her voice
"Why are you still awake and why are you answering mommy's phone"
"Mommy escorted Mama T to the junction and am still picking beans "
"Picking beans by this time, are you not going to school tomorrow"
"Tomorrow is Saturday Aunty Osas"
"Oh okay If you are still picking beans by this time you must be very slow o"
"Am not as fast as you but I will be soon. Oh yesterday aunty Osas I made the sauce for white rice"
Osas giggled
"Eh Ehn lie lie girl"
"Am not lying o. You can ask Rona , he was just telling me put this put that and I did it and it was very sweet. I wish you could taste it"
"Oh really! "
"Mommy say am going to be a better cook than you are"
"Oh is that so"
"Hmm Hmm! Aunty Osas when are you coming back, I really miss you o"
"I miss you so much baby you have no idea" tears rolled down from her eyes
"So why don't you just come home"
"Very soon Ivie. I'll come soon"
"Are you feeling lonely aunty Osas "
"What?! " osas covered her mouth with her palm to suppressed her tiny sobs
"Why'd you ask?"
"You sound really sad "
"Of course am sad I don't have you by my side to cheer me up"
"You see that's why you should never leave your best friend behind"
"Oh so now am your best friend. What happened to Joanna "
"Jojo is my Best Girlfriend, you are my Best Sister friend in the whole world "
Osas chuckled
"Okay smarty pants "
"Do you want me to come to Lagos before my competition, we will soon vacate from school and I can come and stay with you in Lagos"
"No honey that's not necessary besides you need to study really hard for your competition and if you leave who is going to stay with maale"
"True! And now that am in charge of making white rice sauce I can't leave now"
"No you can't! But maybe you should stick to picking beans for now and let the adults do the cooking"
"That's the same thing Aunty blessing said I thought she was beefing me coz I can cook better"
Osas burst into laughter. Ivie is such a sweet free spirited warm and happy girl
"Maybe you are right but she's also right too so you can't be going to that kitchen to oppress her. Let her handle the cooking with mommy "
"But she's too slow, The other day it took her forever to make Eba and customers were waiting "
"Don't worry she will pick up but don't go and be telling her she's slow to her face, if she beats you I no go do anything "
"Okay! Ohhh and aunty Osas brother Timo has been asking after you, he said you have not been picking his calls"
"I have been busy"
"Well just try and call him coz he is worried"
"Okay madam I don hear you "
"Mommy is here! Mommy is here!! Do you want to speak to her"
"No need! You have already lifted my spirit. You made me laugh so much. Thank you Ivie "
Talking to an eleven year old has made Osas feel so much better than any adult would.
And maybe it is time for her to focus on this amazing human that God has given to her rather than chasing a fantasy
The next morning Osas got ready for work and even when Ejiro tried to talk to her she just walked passed her coz she didn't want to dive into that subject this early morning
On her way to work, she got into a bus and told the conductor she was dropping at Lekki phase 1 and told him how much she wanted to pay. He agreed and because it was rush hour he hiked the price for others that entered after her
She came him #500 especially change of 200 until they got to phase 1 gate this conductor did not give her change and when she hopped down she asked him for it and then he said
"No be 500 I collect from everybody why I go kan give you change "
Osas saw that he was about to leave her there with her change. She dragged him off the bus from where he was hanging and demanded for her change by pulling his trousers
He refused and made attempt to push her and run but Osas didn't back down she quickly grab him by his shirt and even when the shirt tore she hooked his neck and started giving him punches
The people in the bus including the driver all came down from the bus. It was such a rare occasion where a lady would be beating up a guy real good
Some where trying to separate the fight while others were laughing and taking videos
The driver had to intercede on behalf of his boy, paid Osas her 200 before she let go.
Even when she left him he was still staggering and trying to defend himself
But Osas had trashed him well so she just left him there crossed the road and took a bike to her workplace
It was not a fun morning for osas and even at work her boss summoned her to his office the moment he arrived
"Osas why were you not at work yesterday "
"I had a family emergency yesterday boss, am really sorry "
"And you couldn't call or send a text message "
"I didn't get a chance to "
"And even when I was calling you nonstop "
"Am so sorry oga it won't happen again "
"I don't joke with my business Osas. Do you know how many customers had to leave yesterday coz there was no nail technician on ground"
"I apologize boss Abeg no vex "
Her boss Jack was actually a very chill person, he is an easygoing boss and he doesn't stress his workers
"Let this be the last time you will not take permission from work before taking a break "
"Yes boss! Sorry again "
Osas was about to leave the office when Antonia one of her co workers and a nosy busybody rushed into jack's office to show him a video
And immediately he saw it
"Osas! Wait! What is this?"
"What is what?" Osas was confused
"When did this one happen?"
"Oga I think it is this morning coz that was the shirt she wore to work before she changed to uniform"
Antonia answered
Osas was still confused until her boss showed her a video of herself and the conductor this morning
Apparently it was online and everyone can now see it
"Ahhhh" Osas gasped
"So you have now turn to a hoodlum that is going about beating people"
"Oga Nooooo! That's not true. What happened was that the conductor tried to rip me and I didn't want him to go with my change"
"So you beat him like a common tout"
"He asked for it"
"He asked you to beat him up"
"No! But"
"Look at you now, see you forming Van Dan on top ordinary conductor. Does this even look lady like?"
"Just because am a lady doesn't mean I can't defend myself "
"Oh really! So if customers get on your nerve you will just beat them "
"No boss! Never! I won't touch any customer "
"Until they ask for it abi...." He sighed
"Look most of the customers that come here are spoilt brat, overly pampered rich kids, influencers, celebrities so if you can't control yourself in mere public transport. I don't think you can do so here"
"Okay I won't mess up again I swear. I don't know who took that video and posted it online, that's very bad. "
"So the video is the problem not you"
"I didn't do anything wrong, I only took back what is mine"
"Exactly! And I cannot work with a thug. This is a service job, people will walk all over you everytime and you going to have to deal with it"
"Am not complaining about work boss"
"Me too I want to avoid unnecessary wahala. Who knows how many people have seen this video do you think they will let you do their nails after this"
"What has one got to do with the other. Oga I beg you I need this job I won't beat anybody"
"No doubt you are great at what you do but I won't wait until this happens before I let you go. Am sorry Osas pls pack your things and leave. Your salary will be deposited in your account "
Osas took one look at Antonia and it took all she had to not slap her right there and there.
She left the boss's office and when she got out Bidemi was asking her what happened
"Help me tell Antonia say if dem born her mama well make she come meet me for outside. I go use blow decorate that her face wey she don bleach finish. Shebi her busybody no wan calm down I go help am soak am for water. She go dey do yeye over sabi I no know Wetin consine hair stylist with nail technician ...... Omo oshi "
She went to the locker pack her stuff and left the saloon
