Applejack and Rainbow Dash, who have been together since the age of 17, just finished watching a movie together. As they watched the credits roll, Applejack turned to her wife and asked, "That was a fun movie date don't yah think?" Rainbow Dash, with a smile on her face, replied, "Yeah, it was leaving me on my seat."
The two of them first confessed their feelings for each other during their second to last year of high school and their relationship has been going strong ever since. They supported each other through college and after graduating, they decided to move in together. Two years ago, they decided to take the next step in their relationship and tied the knot. Now, at the age of 24, they are happily married and still very much in love. "Come on let's head home," Dash said offering her hand to her wife as she accepted it before the two left the theater.
They walked towards the lobby they noticed that it was nighttime and it had started to rain. "Good thing I bought an umbrella," Rainbow said holding it in her other hand. The two exited the movie theater and Dash opened the umbrella as the two walked hand in hand underneath it heading towards the parking lot. As they approached Dash's Toyota Prius, a distant cry caught their attention the couple exchanging puzzled glances.
"Did you hear that?" Applejack asked. "Yeah, it sounded like crying," Dash said as the two stayed silent as they heard the distant cry again. "Where is it coming from?" Dash asked as her wife looked in the direction of a dark alleyway. "I think it's coming from somewhere down there," AJ said pointing towards the alley. The two walked towards the alley following the sound. Soon the cries got louder and there nestled in the ground of the alley was a box but what the box contained shocked the married couple.
It was a baby that looked around three months old laying in the box the only source keeping him warm was the blue blanket wrapped around him. Without a second thought, Applejack scooped up the baby and cradled him in her arms, while Dash looked around trying to find his mother or anything that she left behind but couldn't find anything before turning her attention back to her wife and the baby.
But there was something that Applejack noticed. "He looks just like us," she whispered, before Dash looked at him and noticed that he did in fact almost resemble the both of them, having rainbow-colored hair, magenta eyes, and the same skin color and freckles as Applejack. Rainbow nodded, a mixture of emotions swirling in her head. "He needs us, we can't just leave him here," Dash said as Applejack nodded in agreement before the three of them headed to Dash's car heading home not before making a quick stop at a nearby shop to get some baby formula and some other necessities a baby might need.
Back at their cozy home, Applejack cradled the baby in her arms while Rainbow Dash prepared a bottle. "Here," She said offering Aj the bottle she took it and gave it to baby as he started drinking it. "What do we do now?" Dash said asked. "I have no idea for now let's just get some rest and tomorrow we'll start searching for its mom," Applejack said as Dash nodded. "I think we're going to need some help, I could tell the girls to meet us tomorrow," Dash offered as Applejack nodded before Rainbow pulled out her phone and started messaging their friends in the group chat.
"What happens if we don't find its mom?" Applejack asked causing Rainbow to stop messaging their friends. "Then... maybe you and I could adopt him I mean we've been talking about wanting to start a family together," Dash said wrapping her arm around Aj's waist and bringing her close as she kissed the top of her head. "You really wanna start a family and adopt him?" Applejack said softly. "Yeah, that's if you want to as well?" Dash asked softly as Applejack smiled leaning her head against Rainbow's chest and cradling the baby. "I would like nothing more." She whispered smiling as Dash smiled and held her wife and the baby close.
The next day, Applejack was waiting for her friends to arrive. Meanwhile, Dash was busy changing the baby. Applejack heard a knock on the door and went to answer it. She saw that Sunset and Twilight were the first to arrive. "Hey, Applejack," greeted Sunset, while Twilight hugged Applejack. "Hey guys, sorry for asking you all to come here," said Applejack. "It's fine. Sunset and I were just going to stay at home and watch movies together," said Twilight, as Sunset wrapped an arm around her shoulders and kissed her cheek.
Minutes later Fluttershy and Rarity arrived. "Sorry we took so long, Fluttershy's animals weren't liking the idea of us leaving." Rarity said as she and Fluttershy greeted the others. Then Pinkie arrived. "I'm here sorry I took a while too much traffic." She replied. "So what's the reason you asked us to come?" Sunset asked. "And where's Rainbow Dash we haven't seen her since we've arrived...huh don't tell me you guys argued." Rarity said as Applejack shook her head. "No, we didn't she's in the other room. Now the reason we asked you guys to come over is because we need your help." AJ said seriously as everyone realized how she sounded.
"Oh, It sounds serious," Fluttershy said softly. "Okay well, what do you need help with?" Twilight asked. "Well, it's best we show you...Dash you can come out now." Applejack said confusing the others. Dash came out of the room the others didn't question it not before noticing that she was holding a baby. "So we found a baby it was abandoned in an alleyway but we found him and took him home but we wanna try to find his mom and if not then me and Dash are gonna adopt him," Applejack said as Dash walked next to her holding the baby.
Pinkie and Rarity passed out, while Fluttershy, Sunset and Twilight's jaws dropped processing the sudden turn of events. Sunset was the first person to snap out of it, "So, what's the plan?" She asked. "Well I think we should report it to the authorities and if they can't find anything then you two can adopt him," Twilight said as Applejack and Dash nodded in agreement. "In the meantime we want you guys to be a part of his life by being his aunts," Dash said.
"Me and Twilight can help you guys report the situation, then help with the whole adoption process," Sunset said as Twilight nodded. "I'll help with anything you need. He's so precious." Fluttershy cooed at the baby as he giggled. "I can help make some clothes for him and once it's official that he's legally your son then I can design the most fabulous nursery, darling." Rarity said. "I can help babysit him whenever you guys need a break and could even plan his birthday parties," Pinkie said. "Thanks, guys," Dash said. "Though there is something I noticed he looks exactly like the two of you." Rarity said as the others nodded. "Yeah, we noticed that too when we saw him," Applejack said. "Maybe it's fate!" Pinkie said. "Yeah, maybe it is," Dash said softly.
Pinkie was right when Twilight and Sunset helped Dash and Applejack report about the situation they were told that there wasn't much the authorities could do since there were no missing reports of a baby. The authorities offered that they could take it him to child services but Dash and Applejack told him that they'd adopt him. So with the help of the authorities and Twilight and Sunset, they were now the official legal parents of the baby, or what he is now called Blaze. During the process, Fluttershy and Pinkie watched over him, and true to Rarity's word she along with the help from Dash and Pinkie made him his nursery room and made new clothes and a few blankets for him.
"Alright, Blaze, it's time for you to take a bath," Dash said, picking up her six-month-old son. With a playful tone, she added, "Now leaving the living room and heading to the bathroom," carrying him almost like an airplane as Blaze giggled and babbled. Dash took him upstairs to the bathroom, where Applejack was waiting to help. "Applejack, here he comes. Coming in for a landing," she joked before handing him over to Applejack. Applejack held Blaze close, kissing him on the cheek and baby-talking to him while Dash prepared the bath."Are you ready?" Applejack asked Blaze, who babbled back to her while Dash made sure everything was ready for his bath.
Moments go by and Applejack was done bathing him. She wrapped him in his towel and picked him up heading to his nursery room where Dash had his clothes ready. "Alright, dude let's get you changed," Rainbow said softly before she started changing him to a new diaper and sleepwear. "Here I got his bottle," Applejack said handing it to Dash who smiled at her before giving it to Blaze as he drank it. Minutes go by and Blaze's eyes slowly start closing. Dash removed the bottle and picked him up, putting a pacifier in his mouth, and began rocking him.
Slowly Blaze began falling asleep in his mom's arms. Dash smiled as Applejack walked next to her and lightly carried him into her arms before gently putting him in his crib and pulling a blanket over him. "Goodnight Blaze your mom and I love you so much," Applejack said softly before kissing him on his forehead as Dash did the same. The two exited the room turning off the lights and closing the door. "I think it's time we go to sleep too raising a kid drains your energy away," Dash said yawning. "Yup it does," Applejack said.
As they headed to their room, both of them changed into their sleepwear. Applejack finished changing and was greeted by arms wrapping around her waist from behind. Dash smiled and rested her head on Aj's shoulder before gently kissing her neck. "Somebody's clinging," Applejack joked softly, turning around to face her wife. The two shared a passionate kiss on the lips before Dash whispered, "I love you, AJ."
"I love you too, Dash, so much," Applejack responded softly as they shared a quick kiss on the lips. The pair then turned off the lights and headed to their sides of the bed. Applejack laid comfortably on Dash's chest as Rainbow wrapped her arms around her shoulders, and the two let sleep consume them as they joined their son in dreamland.
