Three months later
All eyes were on her as she made her way through the airport. Everyone she spoke to was left tongue-tied and dazzled. And why wouldn't they be? She was Hazel Armada , the daughter of the richest person in America. She had the body of a goddess and the smile of an angel. Everyone wanted to know her. Everyone wanted to be her friend. The way she carried herself with such confidence showed that she wasn't afraid of anything. And that she would never back down from a challenge.
Hazel's POV
No one's staring, no ones staring
I kept telling myself. But every time I looked around me , people had their jaws dropped and their eyes bugging out of their sockets.
I had spent the last three months in Celeste's summer home in Venice Italy. There ,they taught me all I needed to know about girl world. Harley , Celeste, and yes, even Sophia. She and I have actually gotten closer over the months and I've come to realize that she isn't as bad as I thought she was. In fact , I kind of like her.
"Hazel!" I turned around and saw them coming my way. Flashing them a smile, I went in their direction.
Over the past few months, my feelings for Robin have disappeared completely. I have completely erased my love for him. Malcolm and I conversed quite a bit through emails and texts. Sometimes we would talk all night.
Last month, he showed up in Venice, and he and I , well, what are we? I'm not so sure myself. I guess we were unofficially boyfriend and girlfriend. He hasn't asked me yet and I don't know if I'm ready. And I most definitely , would not want it to interfere with my plans.
"Come on Hazel, we all know your dying to see your boyfriend but we still have unfinished business" Celeste said whilst linking her arm through mine.
"He's not my boyfriend" I said with a laugh. Yes, that's right. I didn't blush anymore. I was no longer shy and meek.
"Haha, you don't fool us" Sophia said from my right.
Harley simply rolled her eyes. Apparently she was on team Danny.
Oh , Danny. Well you could say he and I rekindled our friendship. You thought Malcolm and I spent lots of time talking, Danny and I talked from 7pm to 4am. Then again during lazy afternoons. Time difference was no problem for Danny.
My phone buzzed in my purse and I pulled it out.
You have one new message.
From: Danny
Dinner later ? My treat. Oh, and welcome home. :)
I smiled and replied
Where are we going?
He replied quicker than I anticipated.
Is that a yes? -danny
Hmmm... Not sure , how do I know you're not planning on kidnapping me? -hazel
So what if I am ? Do have a problem with that ;-) -danny
Yes , my safety is one of my deepest concerns. Just so you know. -hazel
I know, remember that time in third grade? You wouldn't even cross the street you were so scared! -danny
I smiled. He remembered.
Shut up! -hazel
Scaredy cat :p the street was empty you know. -danny
Blah blah blah -hazel
I'll pick u up at 6. See you - danny
I smiled and returned my phone. When I looked up I saw the amused expression plastered across my friend's faces as they stared at me.
"Which one?" Harley asked curiously.
My late night talks with Danny and Malcolm was no secret with them. How could I hide it? The dark circles around my eyes were too noticable.
"I did not spend 10 minutes every morning for the last three months working on your eyes for you to ditch me the minute one of them texts you." Celeste stated dangerously.
I bit back a smile. "Aww, no ones stealing me away celeste , I'm all yours" I said as I batted my eyelashes.
"You say that now but the second your phone vibrates you get stuck in la la land" she stated dryly.
I felt guilty. It was true, for the past three months I spent most of my time chatting with Danny and Malcolm.
"I'm sorry cel " I said giving her my best puppy dog look.
"I know" she said giving me a soft smile.
"Come on guys" Sophia said trying to lighten up the mood. "Let's go have lunch"
I smiled and followed her , but not before shutting my phone off. Danny and Malcolm were special, but no one could replace my friends.

"So are you excited? " Sophia asked me.
"Of course, its not everyday you get your first job" I reminded her.
"She'll do great" Celeste said confidently.
For the past three months I self-educated myself and prepared myself before entering the business world. I knew it was messy and I wanted to make sure I could handle it. My dad told me I had to start working as soon as I thought I was ready. Not wanting to put off the inevitable any longer, I told him I'd start tomorrow.
"Of course she will. She's Hazel Armada. The Hazel Armada." Harley said while forking some spaghetti into her mouth.
"Stop flattering me, or I'll choke on my soup." I complained. But I could feel the corners of my mouth twitching.
"Are we still on for tomorrow? " Celeste asked while removing the cap off her her water bottle.
"Definitely." I answered without hesitation. Tomorrow we would begin the first step. And I was ready.
