You and Emi sit on the couch watching Eli pace back and forth in the living room.
"Eli..." Emi softly says.
"Do you know where mom could have possibly gone?" Eli asks in an irritated voice.
"No... but can you relax. You pacing like that will wake the baby up." Emi quietly says. Eli stops walking and stares at Emi.
"Wait... where is the baby?" You ask looking at Emi.
"I laid her on your bed... if that's okay." She replies looking back at you.
"That's fine." You softly say smiling at her.
"You know what. Yuki- let's go look for her." Eli says as he walks towards the door grabbing onto the doorknob.
"Right now? Eli... its late." Emi sighs.
"Okay?" Eli huffs looking back at Emi.
"You should rest... and so should Yuki." Emi implies. Eli sighs and let's go of the doorknob, and then lays down on the ground, groaning.
"We can look tomorrow after school..." You insist.
"Yeah yeah..." Eli sighs. You furrow your eyebrows and look towards Emi. Emi stares at you and then smiles.
"Wait- You need to sleep right? I will grab the baby-" Emi stands up and walks towards your bedroom.
"No. It's okay." You motion for Emi to stop walking. Emi slowly nods. "You can sleep in there with the baby... I will just sleep on the couch." You softly say.
"Are you sure?" She asks. You nod. Emi smiles and bows a bit. "Thank you." She says turning towards the bedroom. "Come on Eli. Get off the ground." Emi says to Eli who's still sulking on the ground.
The next morning you slowly make your way downstairs to the bakery to hopefully grab a few things for Emi and Eli. Your grandma is preparing the sweets and stuff. You lean a bit to get your grandma's attention. She slowly looks at you and smiles.
"Hi Yuki."
"Hi grandma." You softly say with a smile.
"How has school been?"
Your smile slowly disappears to the thought of school. You know you haven't been doing great at all. You smile again trying to shake the fact that you're failing in school at the moment.
"It's been good."
"You know. Your grandfather misses you... You should make some time to go visit him." She implies. You slowly nod with a serious look on your face. She rubs your cheek and smiles at you. "I made dorayaki with mochi and red bean paste in it this time. You should try some. Take some for your friends too." She says motioning towards the dorayaki on the counter. You smile and nod, grabbing a few and wrapping them up in a paper towel. You hug your grandma before walking back upstairs.
The sound of the baby crying is loud enough to hear from outside the door. You slowly open the door to see Emi bouncing the baby as she tries to feed her.
"Hey... why is she crying?" You ask, slowly walking into the living room and closing the door behind you.
"I don't know..." Emi softly replies. Eli is sitting on the couch rubbing his head. He looks tired.
"I brought some dorayaki..." You softly say placing the paper towel on the table.
"Thank you." Emi softly replies.
"You're welcome."
You and Eli slowly walk to school. Both of you walk not making any conversation. You stare off into the distance feeling kinda weird. Even after telling Eli the truth about who you are, you still feel like there's more you haven't told him. Should you even tell him more. You sigh and rub your arms feeling kind of chilly.
"Why did you fight with Hana? What happened between you two?" Eli asks. You slowly look at him.
"... I was tired of the bullshit."
"Yuki wouldn't fight her... so when you did, I thought it was surprising... especially when at the time I thought you were Yuki."
"Well... Yuki has a bad taste in friends." You huff.
"Pft... Yet you mess with Toman-" Eli chuckles. You slowly look at him and then look down with a sad look on your face. "Wait... I was joking-"
"You're right." You sigh. "I'm not any better..."
Eli looks straight. His eyebrows furrowed with a serious look on his face. "I'm curious to why you got involved with them..."
"It's not deep honestly... I just was curious... That's all."
"I see. What happened between you and them? I haven't seen you around them much anymore." He says looking back at you.
"It's complicated." You reply.
"I understand complicated..." He implies. You sigh and shake your head.
"It's not something I really want to discuss... It's just that- I'm tired of it. That's all." You softly reply. Eli slowly nods and decides to leave it alone. Once the two of you make it to school, you both change your shoes and make your way to class. You sit at your desk and sink down a bit. Eli lays his head down on his desk. You slowly close your eyes to rest them while waiting for class to start.
"Yuki." A voice says from beside you. You quickly open your eyes and turn to the voice. You slowly look up to see a pair of lavender eyes staring back down at you. You furrow your eyebrows and lay your head in your arms, pretending that he's not right beside you. He sighs and leans closer to you. "We need to talk... either talk to me now or I will pay a visit later." He says in a stern voice into your ear.
"Why do you want to talk?" You ask with your face still in your arms.
"I will tell you why when we talk." He sighs. You slowly look back up at Mitsuya who's glaring down at you. You take a deep breath and stand up. You both walk out the class and down the hall. He leads you into an empty room and closes the door. You lean against a table and watch him as he does.
"So?"
"What happened on the day of the festival?" He asks in a serious tone.
"I left..." You listlessly answer. He stares at you with no expression on his face.
"Yeah I know that. Why?" He questions. You roll your eyes and look away.
"Why does it matter?"
"Why? You were supposed to help me..." He seethes.
"Okay. I apologize." You blankly say, glaring back at him.
"What's with the attitude? I didn't do anything to you... so why are you acting like I did?"
"I don't want much to do with Toman... I'm tired of it." You sigh.
"Riiiight..." He scoffs and takes a deep breath and leans against the door. His ears are red, and he looks irritated. "That's it? You aren't going to talk to any of us now?" He fumes. You slowly nod. He relaxes his eyes and clenches his fist. "Look... Yuki- I'm not Mikey- I'm not going to just let you walk away like that." You furrow your eyebrows as he approaches you. "I don't know what made you act this way- but it better change quick."
"Or what?" You look at him with your eyebrows raised. "What will you do?" He stares at you with a blank face then smiles.
"I'll talk to you later." He laughs as he walks towards the door.
"Why later?" You listlessly say. "If you have something to say then say it." You continue. He stops walking and stares at you through the reflection of the window on the door.
"Have a nice rest of your day... Yuki." He seethes as he opens the door and walks out the room. You furrow your eyebrows and cross your arms. What the fuck was the point of that... He said all of that and left. You think to yourself. You sigh and stand up straight. You look at the door and then at the floor. "I'm tired..."
"Then you should of stayed home." A voice says from the door. You quickly lift your head up to see Kasumi. Great another person...
"What do you want?" You sigh. She stands at the door and looks down at the floor.
"I get you're upset with me... but can we talk?" She softly asks. You raise an eyebrow and cross your arms.
"And why should we? You lied to me... And how did you know I was in here? Were you following me?" You seethe.
"... Kinda... But there's a good reason I lied... can we just talk about it?"
"There's never a good reason to lie." You sigh. She slowly nods.
"I was desperate..." She softly says. You smile and nod.
"I don't care... we were friends... you didn't have to fucking lie to me... I don't want to hear your excuse so move out the way." You say motioning her to move away from the door. She stands still staring at you. You sigh and push past her. She grabs your arm causing you to stop. You yank away from her and continue out into the hallway.
"My sister's kidneys are failing." She quickly says. Your eyes widen and you slowly look back at her.
"What?"
"My sister got worse... she's dying now- and needs a new kidney..." She sniffles. You stare at her with wide eyes. For some reason you feel a heavy and painful weight on your chest. Even though deeply you don't want to sympathize with her... you can't help but do so.
