It's the Monday after we all went to Tessa's house...
"Good news class.. you all got 100's on your quiz!" Our science teacher exclaimed.
"Now don't get too exited because we have a project to do before the quarter ends, there will be.....eleven groups of two!" Mr.lee shouts and me and Tess look back at each other.
"But.. you wont be choosing your partners, I will." Mr. lee says.
"Seriously!?" I shout not realizing how loud I was.
"What's the problem Ruth?" Mr.lee says.
"Nothing... i just uhh, I wanted to be partners with-" I say before he cuts me off.
"Tessa? Trust me.. I know. Now everyone! Write your name on a piece of paper and put it in this jar." Mr. lee says putting a glass jar on his desk.
I write down my name, put the paper in the jar and wait for him to choose my partner.

"Wesley with Xavier, Taylor with Ryan, and last but not least.. Shuji with Ruth." Mr lee exclaimed.
"What? No no no no, there must be a mistake.. there's no more names in there I could get?" I say really not wanting to team up with Shuji.
"Nope.." Mr lee says.
"Everyone sit with your partner, the bells gonna ring soon so we gotta make this quick!" Mr lee shouts.
I stay in my seat when I see Shuji pull his chair up and sit next to me.
"Hey Ruth.." He says looking down at the desk.
"Hey I know you don't want this either, but let's just get over it and get the grade.. okay?" I say.
"Yea.. sure." He says looking up at the teacher.
"Okay so for this project I want you guys to build a lightbulb out of basic supplies you might have at home.. so basically-" Mr lee says before he gets cut off by the bell.
*RING RING RING*
"Saved by the bell.. check your emails for more information about the project!"

Today I decided to walk home with Wes because we live pretty close to each other..
"Yea and then after that he was like.— Ruth? Are you listening!?" Wes says snapping me out of my daydream.
"Huh? Yeah I'm listening you said.. um" I say trying to remember what he said.
"What's on your mind?" Wes asks.
"Shuji.." I say looking at my feet.
"Why? Is it the group project?" Wes asks .
"Partly.. but also something else." I say looking ahead.
"Like what?" Wes says.
"Doesn't matter. Let's just get home." I say walking up.
"Okay then." Wes says shrugging.

I get home and of course, my moms not home. I shower change into some grey sweatpants and a white long sleeve crop top, put my hair in a claw clip, and go in the kitchen to make some bagel bites when I hear a knock on the door.
"Who is it!?" I shout loud enough for them to hear me from the kitchen.
They knocked again.
"Ugh! Who is it!?" I shout again walking to the door and opening it.
It's Shuji..
"What do you want Shuji?" I ask lowering my tone.
"I want to get this project done like you told me in class." He says as he walks inside.
"I didn't say you could come in.." I say.
"Can I come in?" Shuji asks although he's already inside.
"Whatever.. sit in my room until I'm done making my food." I say.
"You know your hot when your bossy? Shuji says making me freeze for a second.
"Shuji.. go." I say still taking in what he just said to me.
"Okay, okay I'll go!" Shuji says laughing a bit.. it's hot.
"Fuck.." I mutter once he gets upstairs.

I walk into my room and see Shuji looking around at my stuff.
"Stop touching my stuff!" I shout.
"God! I'm just looking around.." Shuji says.
"You've been here a billion times.. sadly, but you know what everything looks like so stop!" I say.
"Okay damn. Let's just do this."
"Okay I'll go get supplies from the garage." I say and start walking out the door when I feel an arm around me.
"I'll help!" Shuji says walking up behind me and putting his arm around me.
"You can help without your gross arm on me." I say pushing it off me.
"Whatever, you know you like it." Shuji says.
"Yea yea lets go." I say rolling my eyes.

"Nothing in here is gonna power a lightbulb!" I complain.
"What about this?" Shuji says holding up aluminum foil.
"Oh my god.." I say dropping the pack of lightbulbs in my hand.
"What?" Shuji says confused.
"You said something smart for once!" I say and laugh to myself.
"Oh whatever!" Shuji says playfully hitting my arm...maybe hes not so bad after all.
"Come on, we should get to work." I say after picking up the lightbulbs and grabbing a few more things.
We're back upstairs.. and we've almost figured out how to power the lightbulb.
"Okay now put the foil under that.." I say instructing Shuji.
"Okay, I think i got it." Shuji says and puts the foil under the metal of the lightbulb. It turns on for a second but then starts sparking.
"Oh shit!" Shuji yells.
"Take it off! Take the foil off!" I yell back.
He takes the foil off and it was silent for a few seconds after the sparks until I look up at Shuji and he is laughing.
"It's not funny! You could have burned my house down!" I say seriously.
"Okay okay! Maybe we should take a break?" Shuji says still slightly laughing.
"Yea, let's do that.." I say getting up from my desk chair and moving to my bed.
"Are you coming?" I say looking back at Shuji thats still sitting in my beanbag.
"Um.. y-yea I'm coming" He says finally getting up and sitting at the end of my bed.
"What do you wanna do?" Shuji asks turning around to look at me.
"I don't know.. let's just chill.." I say shifting to where I'm comfortable in my bed and turning on my tv.
"We can watch a movie?" I say in a question tone.
"Sure.. yea that's cool.." Shuji says glancing at the spot next to me in my bed hesitant if he should sit closer to me.
After scrolling through Netflix, we find a good movie to watch and then play it, after about 30 minutes into the movie and ocasional glances back and forth from Shuji and my tv, Shuji finally says something.
"I'm kinda bored." Shuji says blankly and turns to me waiting for an answer.
"Why? This is my favorite movie!" I say putting a had on my chest gasping sarcastically.
"This movie is ass." Shuji says laughing a bit.
"Whatever!" I say rolling my eyes and shutting off the movie.
"So then what do you want to do?" I ask.
"Let's just talk." Shuji says still staring at me, almost like he zoned out on my features.
"Okay, let's talk." I say scooting over to sit next to him.

After a few minutes of us literally just yapping, he brings something up that wasn't called for.. at all.
"So Ruth.. I've been meaning to... to apologize." He says hesitantly, knowing he needs to get over his ego to talk to me about this.
"Apologize for what?" I ask thinking about probably hundreds of things he could say sorry for at this point.
"For.. you know, kissing..you. At the party.." He says lowering his tone.
"We already talked about this.. and honestly, I'm over it now." I say resting my face in my hand and looking away avoiding eye contact.
"Yea.. I just um.. I wanted to tell you, I- I know you probably don't feel the same but-" Shuji says before he gets cut off by my door opening. My mom had just came home.
"Hey Ruthie... oh hi Shuji! I never thought you would be here without Tessa and Wes, well anyways.. I see you guys are becoming friendsss... makes sense Ruth does talk about you a lot now." My mom says, muttering the last part loud enough for both me and Shuji to hear before shutting my door and walking away.
"Oh god.." I slap my head of embarrassment and look the other way, as a response to what my mom said.
"No need to be embarrassed, Ruthie." Shuji smirks.
"God.. don't call me that." I say still looking away not knowing where else to look in this situation.
"Whattt! Aren't we.. becoming friends???" Shuji says teasing me and hitting my shoulder as I try to hold in my laugh.
I move my hand from over my forehead to my mouth to keep trying to hold in my laugh until both me and Shuji burst out laughing.
"See we are!" Shuji says with his laugh slowly fading and smiling at me.
"Shut up." I blush and hit his arm. I never would have thought we would actually become friends.. but for some reason, I want more.
"Alright! Alright.. let's finish our project so I can finally go home I'm tired." Shuji says having his final little laughs and sitting up.

After about an hour of us trying to power the lightbulb, we eventually did. Shuji agreed that he would turn it in.. so he packed up and left. Now I'm just sitting in my room waiting for dinner to finish.
I hear my mom coming upstairs so before she says anything i talk. "Hey mom?" I say loud enough so she can hear through my door.
"Yes Ruth?" She says opening my door.
"Why did you get home so early today? I'm not complaining or anything.. just curious." I ask.
"Well actually.. your about to find out, come downstairs!" She says excitedly.
As I'm walking down the stairs I hear a man's voice talking to my mom. I get downstairs and see a brown haired man who looks like he's in his late 30s wave at me.
"This is my boyfriend." My mom says smiling at me.

This chapter took me way to long it's literally about to be 4 am on a school night but I'm determined to let out more chapters for y'all. Anyways there mighttt just be some drama and a kiss in the next chapter soooo we'll have to look outtttt.
