The next morning she was sleeping when the stranger came with flowers. He stood by her as he wondered what could be the reason she fainted. He went to talk to the doctor to find the reason.
"Hi doc I was just wondering what was the reason for the fainting"
"Hi, are you a friend or relative of the patient?"
"Um no wait, yes I am"
"Which is it?"
"Yes I'm a relative of the patient"
"Why do I have a feeling you're lying to me?"
"I don't know but I'm not lying"
"Sir just yesterday when the patient woke up she didn't know who you were. I'm sorry but I'm going to ask you to leave my office"
"For what?"
"For lying"
"Seriously doctor?"
"Yes, now leave my office"
"But doc"
"Leave my office or I'll call security"
"I'll leave"
He passes by her room and exits the hospital. The doctor continues her work while Zeina's friend comes to see her.
"Hi Ze"
"Hmm"
"Wake up it's me"
"Oh hi"
"How are you?"
"I'm fine"
"How did you sleep?"
"I slept ok"
"Who brought those flowers?"
"Uh, I don't know. I was asleep"
"Must be that stranger that brought you to the hospital "
"I don't think so. Why would he bring me flowers?"
"Maybe he likes you but is afraid to ask"
"I doubt it"
"Oh come on Ze, you have been single for years. Give it a thought"
"If he liked me he would have said something by now".
"True. are you hungry?"
"Yea I am"
"Alright, I'm going to get you some food to eat. I'll be back"
"Alright. Thank you"
"You're welcome"
The doctor along with the nurse came in to check on my vitals. They noticed flowers were by the window and were curious.
"Who brought you those flowers?"
"I don't know. I woke up and saw it there"
"The person that brought you here must have brought it because he came to see me in my office pretending to be your relative and asking about your health reports"
"What? You didn't give the person my health report, did you?"
"Of course not. It is a confidential document between me and you"
"OK good. Whew, thank god. Speaking of I think I want to know now"
"Are you sure Zeina?"
"Yes, I'm very sure"
"Alright"
As the doctor is about to say it Zeina's friend comes running to the room. The doctor and Zeina notice she is coming and opens the door. Zeina noticed no food in her friend's hand, and she was hungry.
"Um, where is the food you said you were going to get for me?"
"Oh, the food. When it was my turn to get food, it was already finished".
"What? How can that be? Thats impossible"
"I'll leave you two talk. you know where to find me"
"No wait doc I want to know".
"Do you also want her to know?"
"Yes doctor I trust her"
"Alright. According to the report, it says you have yellow fever"
"What? No doctor this can't be. I can't have yellow fever. No doctor no"
"I'm afraid so"
"How serious is it?"
"I'm afraid it is mild"
"What am I going to go through doc?"
"Well yellow fever yellows the skin and the eyes, it's mild and only lasts like 3 to 4 days to recover, but severe cases can cause bleeding, heart problems, liver or kidney failure, brain dysfunction, or even death"
"What?"
She cries after hearing the bad news. Her friend consoles Zeina as she can't believe it either.
"Is there any medication I can take for it?"
"I'm afraid not. All you can do is rest, drink fluids, and use over-the-counter pain relievers to reduce fever and relieve aching".
"Alright thanks, doc"
"No problem"
She goes into despair as there is no sign of hope. She cries herself to sleep and her friend is left with shock. She wanted to hug Zeina but was conflicted and left her to sleep
