Aishatu~

I stirred in my slumber. I felt a cozy breath fan my face.
Then a wheeze.
I flutter my eyes open and plop them on him.
He is sleeping like a baby.
His patted lip which enables him to snore makes my stomach gurgle.

The thought of last night churned in my head.
I found myself smiling at the thought of me underneath him. How gentle he was before it turned into a fierce one.
Just the thought aroused me.

I bit my lower lip.
I smirk and lean forward to get his patted lips on mine.
I can't get rid of how his tongue synchronized with mine.
His mint breath and the moan.
God. I felt dampness underneath me.

I press my legs.
My husband flutters his eyes open immediately after I devour his lip.
I was appalled with wide-eyed.
I glance at his glittering orifices peering at me.
I jump off from his body.
I'm sorry. I muttered.

My husband whirls me to his body and pin me down.
Qalb, it's late. I will prepare breakfast for Mama. She might be hungry. I muttered.
He smiled.
Qalb, I stop him from going further.
I want that too but. His Mom is still in the psychiatric hospital and we need to check on her.

I have taken care of that. My husband muttered.
I arc a confused brow at him.
Yes, he muttered.
We had an ecstatic morning.

11 am

Aisha, are you ready? My husband asked.
Yes, Qalb. I muttered.
I grab my hijab and put it on then take my purse and my phone.

I followed him out.
We trudge to the porch and stride out of the living room.
Qalb, what did Abbah say about Mama's condition? She isn't getting better. Her condition exacerbates every day. I muttered.

Abbah has communicated with his friend in India.
He has arranged for a Doctor that will treat Mama.
I will also go with them. My husband muttered.
Aisha, do you think what Mama needs is medical attention?
I think I should get a good sheikh that will also pray for her. My husband muttered.

Qalb, You keep coercing Hajiya Khadija.
She might harm you. Qalb, please don't say anything to her pertaining to this again.
I'm scared to lose you. I muttered.
My husband parked his car at the corner and swerved his gaze to me.

Do you have taqwa? He asks me.
Yes, I do. I muttered.
Then you shouldn't be scared of anything. I know human being can harm us because there's an evil eye and it's real but when we have taqwa, we won't be scared.
She can never harm me except if Allah has ordained it to happen to me.

I promise I won't confront her again. And I won't let her know about my plans. I want this should be a secret between us.
I won't tell Abbah too. My husband muttered.
I squint my eyes at him.
How will you do it without Abbah's consent? Abbah is her husband now.
I muttered.

I know how to handle it. Don't worry about it.
My secret is safe with you, right? My husband asked squishing my hand.
Yes, it is. I assured.
He ignited the car engine and started driving.

My husband reached the hospital and drove inside.
He parked his car in the parking lot and we saunter out of the car.
I glimpse three ladies crying and two men.
Qalb, what is wrong with them? I ask him curiously.
Maybe they lost someone. My husband muttered.

We walk to the psychiatric ward.
Mama stood up and walked to the door immediately she saw us.
Qalb, I'm scared. She might harm me. I whisper in his ear.
She won't. My husband muttered.
I nod my head and entwined my hand with his tightly.

The security man opened the door for us and we walked in.
My mother-in-law smiled at me.
Come and hug me. She muttered.
I glance at my husband still holding him tightly.
He gave me an assuring smile.
Go, I'm here she won't harm you. My husband muttered.

I exempt my hand from his and walk to her.
Every step I take feels like I'm being forced to move.
She opens her arm for me and I hug her.
I briskly exempt myself from the hug.

My husband walks to us to ease the tension between us.
I heave a sigh. I have the back to hide in case my mother-in-law strangles me.
Mama started crying.
I and my husband give her a quizzical look.

Mama, why are you crying? We asked simultaneously.
Aisha, I'm sorry. Please forgive me.
I know I don't deserve your forgiveness.
I killed my grandchild. I'm a monster.
Mama muttered hitting her head.

No, Mama. You are not a monster. I have forgiven you. I muttered.
I flick back my tears. She reminds me of the pain.
It's been three months since I Lost my baby.
Thank you, Aisha. Mama muttered.

It's okay, I wipe off her tears.
Mama, we brought you lunch.
I take her to the plastic chair beside her bed and sit her down.
I squat Infront of her and take out the food flask from the basket.

I take the plate and put one wrap of semolina on the plate.
I sprinkle the okra soup on the side of the swallow.

I cut a little size and stretch my hands towards her mouth.
She opened her mouth and take the swallow.
I keep doing that until she finishes eating.
I took the bottle of water and gave her.

Aisha, you haven't fed my friend. She is hungry too. Mama muttered.
Okay, I will feed her too. I muttered.
I stand up and stride out to wash my hands.
I turn to leave when I bump into someone.
My heart skipped. I almost screamed Immediately I set my eyes on a woman from the psychiatric ward.

I'm sorry, I muttered and quickly stride out of there.
She holds me back.
Please let go of me. I muttered worriedly.
I almost pee on my pant with fear.
Her grip on me becomes tight.
Qalb! I screamed.
I closed my eyes expecting the worst to happen to me.

I felt a hand jerk me.
Please let me go. I muttered shakingly.
Noor, it's me. My husband whispered in my ear.
I opened my eyes and buried my face in his shirt.
My heart keeps beating rapidly.

Please, help me with food. I'm hungry. The woman muttered.
I raised my head and glanced at the woman.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I mean no harm. I just want food.
I saw her feeding that woman and I followed her here. The woman muttered.

Noor, let's give her food. My husband muttered and I shook my head.
We walk inside and I take one wrap of semolina and put the soup on the plate.
Qalb, I don't want to give her our plate.
I won't take this plate home. I muttered.

My husband Humm and I feel remorseful for saying that.
His mom is also in this condition.
We walk to the woman and give her the food and a bottle of water.
She was so happy and she hungrily munched on the food.

Qalb, I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I muttered.
It's okay. My husband muttered curtly.
We walked inside and met Mama sleeping.
Should we go home? My husband asks me.
Yes. I muttered.

My husband walked to his mom and adjusted her head on the pillow.
He pecks her on her forehead and wipes off his tears.
Let's go. My husband muttered with a sniff.
I hold him back.
Qalb, please be strong for her. You always cry anytime you visit Mama. I muttered.

He nods his head.
We walk to the car and enter inside.
Should we go to Adnan's house? My husband asks me.
Okay, let's go. I muttered.
He drives to Adnan's house.
The gateman opened the gate for us.

My husband drove inside and parked his car in the parking lot.
We Saunter out of the car and trudge to Adnan's apartment.
My husband knocked on the door.
Adnan opened the door for us.
Unexpected guest. Adnan teased.

I smiled at him and took Mahir from him.
We walk to the couch and sit down.
Abla strides downstairs.
She welcome us.
Abla, you two should go inside. We will stay in the living room.
Adnan muttered.

I stand up and adjust Mahir on my shoulder.
I follow Abla to her bedroom.
How is Mama? Abla asked me immediately I sat on the bed.
She is fine. I muttered.
We discussed about stuffs and I prayed and then stood up to leave after receiving a call from my husband.

I gave Mahir to Abla and stride out of her bedroom.
Abla trail behind me.
We trudge downstairs.
Abla and Adnan see us off.
We walk to the car and enter inside.
I promise Yusuf and Farhan to visit them. My husband muttered.

Qalb, let's go home. We didn't inform them. I muttered.
Okay, let's go home. My husband muttered.
He drives home.
We reached home and he drove inside immediately the gateman opened the gate for us.

My husband parked his car in the parking lot and we saunter out of the car.
Qalb, let's go to the pool. I muttered.
Why? You can't swim and you hate pool. My husband muttered.
I will watch you swim. It will be fun. I muttered.

No, let's go inside. If you insist then you will also swim with me. My husband dared.
Okay, fine. I muttered.
He smirk.
We walk inside.
I walk to my bedroom and drop my bag.
I take off my hijab.

My husband walked in dressed in a swimsuit.
He threw mine to me.
I glance at it and frown.
Qalb, I can't wear this to the pool. What if someone sees me or the gateman sees me in this dress?
I'm not as shameless as you. I mumble glancing at the V-shape that form along the pant of the swimsuit he wore.

I take my eyes off quickly.
You can use your hijab to cover your body.
The hijab is long. My husband muttered.
I rolled my eyes and pulled off my dress then put on the swimsuit.
I grab my Hijab and put it on.

Let's go. I muttered.
I follow him out and we pass through the back door.
We reach the pool.
I check everywhere to be sure no one is there then I take off my hijab.
I sat on the bench with my husband.
Our legs are inside the pool as we enjoy the serenity of the place.

It's time to swim. My husband muttered.
You go first. I plead with puppy eyes.
He nods his head and jumps into the pool.
My husband started swimming.
I keep cheering him up.

I love you, baby! I holler as he goes deep.
I couldn't see a glimpse of him.
It got me worried.
I stood up abruptly.
Qalb, I hollered.
Tears spring to my eyes.

I started crying.
Qalb, I cried out.
I will jump into this water. I don't care to lose my life too. I muttered.
I closed my eyes and was about to jump into the water when water splashed on my body.

I opened my eyes and saw my husband laughing at me.
I squat Infront of the water and hit him on his head.
I hate you. I cried.
I'm sorry. My husband muttered.
Before I could register his words. I felt myself land in the pool.
I screamed.

Don't fret I'm here to guide you. My husband whispered in my ear.
I nod my head.
He started his work and he succeeded.
I grin.
Yes, I'm doing it. I muttered enjoying the pool.
We swim to the depth of the pool.

I began to shiver.
My husband noticed that and wrapped his arm around my petite body.
We leave the water.
He grabbed his hoodie and covered me up.
No, I will put on my Hijab. I muttered with gritted teeth.
He nods his head and I take my Hijab and put it on.

We began to trudge inside.
We walk inside and I quickly take off my Hijab and the swimsuit.
I run to the bathroom and turn on the jacuzzi.
I closed my eyes enjoying the hot water.

I finish bathing and grab my towel from the towel hanger in the bathroom.
I drape it over my body and stride out of the bathroom.
I walk to the closet and put on a white shirt and a Chinos.
My husband bought it for me.

I tie the vintage scarf to my head and stride out of the closet.
My husband walks in with two cups of tea.
I'm sorry. My husband muttered.
We walk to the bed and sit down.
I collect the cup from him and thank him.
I sniff.
Are you allergic to swimming? Is that why you don't like swimming? My husband asks me.

No, I'm not.
I hate swimming because it reminds me of Alim's death.
Had it been I could swim. My little brother wouldn't have died. I would save him. I muttered sadly.
It's okay. My husband muttered.
We drank tea in silence.

We finish drinking the tea and I take the cup to the kitchen.
I stride back to the room.
I walk to the bed and join my husband.
Come here let's cuddle. My husband muttered.

No, let's watch a movie. I muttered.
Okay, let's watch a movie. He muttered.
I scramble out of bed and walk to my closet, open the wardrobe and take out my laptop.
I stride to the room and climb the bed.

I flip it open.
What should we watch? I ask my husband.
Let's watch a romance movie. My husband muttered with a smirk.
I glared at him.
No, let's watch a horror movie. I muttered.

Let's watch that tonight. My husband muttered.
No, let's watch it now.
We kept arguing and finally decided to watch a horror movie.
We watch four different horror movies.

I began to be scared.
My husband scrambles out of bed.
I ran after him.
Where are you going to? I ask him.
To the toilet. My husband muttered with a raised brow.
Can I follow you? I ask him.
No, I need privacy. My husband muttered with a smirk.

It's your idea that we watch horror movies so deal with it. My husband muttered.
He walked to the bathroom and shut the door.
I walked to the door to open it when I heard the sound of him locking it inside.

I whirl back to the bed and sit down.
My husband saunter out of the bathroom.
I'm done you can go inside. My husband muttered.
I ignore him mumbling incoherent words under my breath.

I want to go to the hospital to see Mama. Do you care to join me? My husband asked.
I ignore him and walk to the bathroom.
I excrete the metabolic wastes and stride out of the bathroom.

I grab my Hijab and put it on.
I follow him out.
We walk downstairs and trudge outside.
Are you going to ignore me? My husband whispered in my ear.

I increased my pace and started walking to the parking lot.
He holds my hand and whirls me to his body.
My body pressed against his.
Our eyes lock and I throw him a deadly glare.
He wasn't moved by my glare.

He moves his face to mine and stares at my lips.
Just as he was about to kiss me. I drop my pride and speak up.
Stop, Musa is watching us. I muttered.
He smirked and let go of me.
We enter the car and he zooms out of the house.

My husband reached the hospital and drove inside.
It's been a while since I went to the company. I will go there tomorrow before I go to the hospital. My husband muttered.
I nod my head.
We saunter out of the car and trudge to the psychiatric ward.

We reached the VIP ward and what we saw shocked us to the core.
I glance at my husband who is terrified and we run inside.
