Chapter 1: Winter's Obsession
⛧°。⋆༺♱༻⋆。°⛧
I'll tell you something about Earth; it's nothing like how we were taught it was made out to be. Instead of being green, alive, free, and beautiful—a paradise we should envy—it's a world that's burning down. It's riddled with monsters, a society that's seriously messed up, and let's not even start on the questionable lunch options. I mean, it's not like I can't eat it, but do I want to? It's a puzzling choice for someone like me.

I don't understand how Haerin does it, surviving in this chaotic realm day after day. But then again, I do understand. There's this girl.

Karina, that's her name. She's like a beacon in this twisted world, a glimmer of light in the darkness. I can see why people are drawn to her, why she's willing to tread through the turmoil of Earth just to achieve her goals. Karina is a mystery in herself, a puzzle I'm eager to solve.

As I watch her from afar, I can't help but wonder about the pull of this world, the strange allure that keeps her here despite its flaws. It's a curiosity that nags at the edges of my mind, urging me to dig deeper into this complex web of emotions and desires. Earth might not be the paradise I expected, but it holds secrets worth uncovering, and She's is at the heart of it all.

The magic in this school is weak, a mere 10% of the population harboring simple powers like telekinesis and, well, let's say something equally unimpressive—like the ability to manipulate the color of their shoelaces. The uniform they make us wear is irritatingly itchy, and once again, I find myself silently respecting Haerin for her patience in dealing with this subpar fabric.

As I move through the hallways and the classrooms, I can feel the weight of curious and wary eyes upon me, especially from Minji. She regards me with a mix of curiosity and a touch of fear, a sentiment shared by most students in this school. Unlike Haerin, I don't bother to conceal the myriad abilities that come naturally to us as vampires. I effortlessly jump from one spot to another, have my pen write notes for me with a mere thought, and find amusement in tripping up unsuspecting students with the simple movement of a finger. There's no point in stressing over hiding your true self when you're surrounded by those who can't comprehend the full extent of your capabilities.

But despite my brazen display of power, there's one person who truly matters in this world—Karina, my mate. She's the one who deserves to know the real me, to witness the depths of my abilities, and to be captivated by the enigma that is Winter. In this convoluted realm, she is my focus, my anchor, and the one person who truly belongs to me.

Speak of the angel, she gracefully emerges from the prefects room, and I decide that this is my golden opportunity to engage with her for the very first time. She carries a scent that is nothing short of divine, and her aura exudes an undeniable allure. Her gaze meets mine, seemingly expectant, and I seize the moment to approach her.

With an air of confidence that borders on overconfidence, I regain my composure and extend my hand toward her, offering a charming smile. "Hello,"

As she extends her hand, our fingers meet in a brief yet charged connection. I can't resist the temptation to hold it just a tad longer than necessary before finally releasing it. Her expression shifts to one of puzzlement, and it only adds to her charm, making her appear all the more endearing.

"I happened to notice your beauty from across the hallway, and I simply couldn't resist the urge to introduce myself." I offer her a charismatic smile, my words dripping with charm.

She smirks in response, her gaze still fixed on me. "Karina," she introduces herself, though it's hardly necessary. Her smirk hints at a maturity that clashes with my demeanour.

She then inquires, "Can I help you with something?" Her head tilts slightly to the side, a curious glint in her eyes. For a moment, I find myself fumbling, momentarily caught off guard by her directness.

I quickly recover from my momentary fumble, determined to maintain the air of confidence that has been my trademark. With a mischievous glint in my eye, I reply to Karina's inquiry in a smooth tone, "Oh, my dear Karina, I'm sure you could help me with many things."

My words hang in the air, heavy with suggestion, as I maintain eye contact with her. Karina's response to my playful innuendo is not what I expect. Instead of a flirtatious banter or a reciprocal teasing, her demeanor shifts. The glint of amusement fades from her eyes, replaced by a subtle disappointment.

With a composed and somewhat aloof tone, she replies, "I prefer clarity in communication and respect for boundaries." Her words are measured, devoid of the warmth I had hoped to kindle.

It's clear that my overconfident approach hasn't landed as intended. In the moments that follow, This realization stirs a faint sense of regret within me, but I'm not one to give up easily. I wonder if there's a way to win her over, to show her a different side of myself that aligns more with her preferences.

My next interaction, much to my dismay, didn't fare any better. It seemed that my natural charm, which had often been so effective, was falling flat in the eyes of Karina.

I found myself in a rather compromising situation behind the school, having decided to skip class for a moment of respite from the stifling atmosphere of the classroom. It was meant to be a private escape, a brief retreat from the mundane routine of school life.

However, my moment of solitude was unexpectedly disrupted when Karina discovered me in my hiding spot. Her presence was like a sudden jolt, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of surprise and unease.

Karina's expression upon discovering me behind the school wasn't exactly welcoming. With an air of displeasure, she sighed audibly and remarked, "Oh, it's just you," as she casually placed her walkie-talkie into the side pocket of her blazer.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to playfully respond to her less-than-enthusiastic greeting. I gracefully hopped off the bench, feigning a hurt look. "Just me?" I retorted with a charming grin, placing a hand dramatically over my heart. "Don't be so cruel, my dear. I thought we had something."

Her response, although not spoken aloud, was clear in her thoughts. 'In your dreams,' she silently retorted. But I couldn't help but chuckle, having read her mind effortlessly. It seemed that even in her annoyance, Karina couldn't entirely conceal her thoughts from me.

Her voice cut through our unspoken banter with calculated precision. "You have the next five minutes to return to class, or else I'll have you marked as truancy and arrange for an after-hours detention," she declared firmly, raising an eyebrow.

I couldn't help but find her stern demeanor intriguing, and a playful glint danced in my eyes. "Well then," I replied, my tone flirtatiously light, "I suppose I should make the most of these five minutes, shouldn't I?"

Karina's expression remained composed, but her voice held an undertone of exasperation. "Winter, don't be difficult," she chided, clearly not swayed by my charm. She seemed determined to maintain the authority of her role as a school prefect.

I decided to push my luck a bit further, my playful confidence undeterred. "Difficult? My dear, I'm simply testing the boundaries," I quipped, taking a step closer to her. "Rules were made to be bent, don't you think?"

She regarded me with a patient but unyielding gaze. "Rules are there for a reason, to maintain order and discipline," she explained, her tone unwavering. "Now, are you going to return to class or not?"

I couldn't deny that Karina's mature and level-headed approach was a stark contrast to my own flirty and overconfident demeanor. It only made our interactions all the more intriguing, like a clash of personalities that left me eager to see what would happen next.

I couldn't resist flashing a charming and flirty smile as I continued our playful banter. "What's the rush, Karina? Do you have somewhere to be?" I teased, savoring the way her name rolled off my tongue.

Karina's response was a sigh of evident impatience. "That's none of your concern, Winter," she retorted, her voice steady and composed.

I couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Well, then, I'll take that as a 'no,'" I replied, my tone dripping with playful innuendo. I took a step back and gracefully seated myself on a nearby bench. "Why don't you join me?" I suggested, raising an inviting eyebrow.

Karina furrowed her brows, clearly torn between her sense of responsibility as a school prefect and my persistent charm. Karina's expression remained firm, and she hesitated for a moment before making a decision. With a slight sigh of resignation, she finally relented and took a seat beside me on the bench.

"Only for a moment," she said, her tone still carrying a hint of reluctance.

I couldn't help but grin at her acquiescence. "Well, it's a start," I replied, my voice low and playful. "So, Karina, tell me, what's a good little school prefect like you doing here, keeping company with a troublemaker like me?"

She regarded me with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "I'm making sure you don't get into more trouble," she explained, her gaze fixed on the schoolyard.

I leaned in a little closer, my voice taking on a flirtatious cadence. "Ah, but where's the fun in that, my dear? Sometimes a little mischief can be quite exhilarating."

Karina rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed by my charm. "Exhilarating, perhaps. But it can also lead to consequences," she warned.

Yes, fun consequences

Karina glanced at me, her gaze steady and composed. "What's your deal?"
Karina's question hung in the air, and I met her gaze with a sly smile, feigning innocence and genuine interest. "My deal?" I repeated, my tone dripping with charm. "Well, Karina, my deal is that I find you utterly captivating, and I can't resist the temptation to get to know you better."

She raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced by my flirty response. "That's quite the deal," she remarked dryly.

I leaned in slightly closer, maintaining eye contact and keeping my tone playfully confident. "You see, Karina, life is too short to be overly serious all the time," I explained, my words tinged with the age-old wisdom of a vampire. "Sometimes, a little lightheartedness can make the world a brighter place."

Karina sighed, as if she had heard variations of this argument before. "Lightheartedness is one thing," she conceded, "but there's a fine line between that and recklessness."

I chuckled softly, my flirtatious demeanor undeterred. "Ah, but isn't life all about walking the fine line, my dear? It's what makes it thrilling."

Our banter continued, with Karina maintaining her mature and responsible stance and me persisting in my flirty and overconfident approach. It was a clash of personalities that held an undeniable allure, one that kept me eagerly engaged in our interactions.

Our conversation continued, a dance of words and personalities that left me both intrigued and captivated by Karina's mature and composed demeanor. It was a clash of opposites that seemed to hold a unique allure, one that made me eager to continue our interactions, despite the differences that set us apart.

Karina took a deep breath, attempting to redirect the conversation. "Well, now that that's settled, can I convince you to return to physics class?" she asked, her tone exuding professionalism.

I feigned a pout, my playful nature still firmly intact. "Settled? I'm hurt, Karina. I thought you were enjoying this conversation," I replied with a hint of mock disappointment.

She smiled ever so slightly, her response still measured. "What possibly implied that I was?" she deadpanned.

Unable to resist the opportunity to flirt, I countered with a smirk, "Your body language, perhaps?"

Karina let out a small huff of amusement, her patience seemingly running thin. "Okay, that's enough," she declared, standing up.

I mirrored her actions, standing to match her height with a few less inches. "Class," she reminded me firmly.

I couldn't resist a mischievous smile as I leaned in slightly closer. "Well, Karina, if 'class' is just another word for detention, then you can count on my presence," I teased, my voice low and suggestive.

She furrowed her brow and glanced at her watch, just as the school bell rang. I was already walking away, leaving her slightly perplexed, possibly even a tad impressed. As I made my exit, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself, thoroughly enjoying the playful dance of our personalities and the undeniable chemistry that seemed to linger in the air.

After hours came quickly, and I found myself walking along the dimly lit hallways, making my way to detention. Surprisingly, it was worth every minute of the trouble I'd stirred earlier. Detention had its perks, after all. It provided me with ample time to contemplate my current situation, which was becoming increasingly intriguing.

As I pushed open the heavy wooden doors, the room's surroundings came into view. It was a typical detention room, with plain walls adorned only by a few posters reminding students of the consequences of their actions. There were a handful of students inside, each serving their respective punishments, scattered throughout the room.

But what caught my attention most was Karina, seated at the front desk. Her expression visibly deflated when she saw me, and I couldn't help but light up with a grin. This was shaping up to be the best detention ever.

I sauntered into the room with a certain degree of swagger, my flirty and overconfident demeanor in full swing. Detention might have been a punishment for most, but for me, it had suddenly transformed into a delightful opportunity for some quality time with Karina.
