The dragon stood protectively in front of Mattheo, Theodore, and Jasper, its wings forming an impenetrable barrier. The onlookers, both students and teachers, were bewildered by the surreal turn of events. Nobody had any idea where the dragon had come from, it was as if it had appeared out of nowhere.
It let out another loud cry, warning the teachers to back off.
The three boys looked up at the dragon. Confusion covered their tear stained cheeks. Theodore was the first one to catch on, he turned around and looked down towards the ground to see that her body was no longer on the ground. He felt his heart thumping loudly in his chest as it all began to click
Jasper spoke up suddenly, "sh-shes gone," he muttered, also looking down at the spot where she had previously been laying, "guy's she's gone..."
"No... she's right there," Theodore muttered and the three Slytherins slowly looked back at the dragon who was standing over them protectively. The tension in the air was palpable as the teachers, uncertain of what to do next, raised their wands.
"We need to protect the students!" Professor Sprout exclaimed in worry as she pulled some of the students back from the dangerous magical creature.
Without a moment's hesitation, several teachers, including Dumbledore and McGonagall, launched spells at the dragon, seeking to protect the students. The spells struck the dragon's formidable hide, causing it to roar out in pain.
The three Slytherins tried to call out to the teachers, telling them to stop but the teachers couldn't even hear them over the sound of the dragon or the screaming students as most of them began to run off, while others stood there either too scared to move, or too intrigued to leave.
The boys tried to get past the wings so that they could get the teachers to stop, but there was spells firing everywhere and the last thing the dragon planned on doing was letting them in the firing range.
Most of the students that had stayed were the Hufflepuffs and the Gryffindors. The students watched in stunned silence as the dragon, undaunted and unwavering, remained firmly in place, guarding the three Slytherins against the spells that rained upon it. The teachers, perplexed by the dragon's actions, began to realise that it wasn't attacking back.
McGonagall, her voice commanding yet tinged with confusion, called for the other teachers to cease their spells. "Hold your fire! The dragon isn't fighting back! I dont think that it means any harm."
The dragon continued to protect the Slytherins as Minerva approached them cautiously. The teachers and students exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what had just transpired. The flapped its wings slightly but then it softly lowered her head towards the teacher, a look of recognition on its face
"Minerva, step back its dangerous!" Flitwick called to the woman. Minerva watched as the dragon looked down at her. There was something so familiar about the look in its eyes.
As Minerva reached the trio, she spoke softly to Mattheo, Theodore, and Jasper, "What happened here? How did the dragon just appear out of nowhere?"
The three Slytherins, still recovering from the shock of the dragon's appearance and the subsequent spells, struggled to find words. Kirra's presence, even in her dragon form, had shaken them to their core.
The dragon remained resolute, its green eyes flickering with recognition as it gazed upon Minerva McGonagall. Her voice, although commanding, held a note of uncertainty as she approached the trio, "what kind of forbidden magic have you used." She didn't want to believe that they were using the dark arts, especially at such an early age... but they were brought up surrounded by that magic, so she had her doubts.
Mattheo, Theodore, and Jasper exchanged bewildered glances. The dragon let out a small growl, another warning at the teacher approached the boys. Minerva looked back up, she felt like she was going crazy.
Why? Why do those eyes look so familiar?
Then her eyes widened, "that's impossible," she muttered out. Mattheo hadnt stopped looking at the dragon, his heart thumping loudly in his chest.
"little badger..."
The dragon looked down at the three Slytherins, a glint in her eyes as she checked their body's for any injuries.
Tears welled in Theodore's eyes as he looked up at her, "You never cease to surprise me princess."
Jasper nodded, his voice quivering as he tried to speak up, but no words fell from his mouth.
Minerva McGonagall's eyes were moist as she continued to study the dragon. There was something hauntingly familiar in its behavior, something that tugged at her heart. "Ophelia...," she whispered, her voice filled with a mixture of awe and sorrow.
The other teachers and students watched in a daze as the situation unfolded. It was clear that the dragon meant no harm, and the teachers slowly lowered their wands, though they remained cautious.
"What are we going to do, Professor?" one of the students whispered to another, their voices barely audible over the remnants of the chaotic scene.
Minerva McGonagall, her gaze fixed on the dragon, replied, "We shall wait and see, my dear. This is a remarkable turn of events, and it seems that Miss Potter has found a way to protect those she cares about, even from beyond the veil." While her voice seemed as calm as it usually did, she was jittering on the inside.
The dragon maintained its protective stance, its eyes never leaving the three Slytherins it guarded. But it was the next thing that surprised them even more... the dragon quickly shrunk in size as it morphed back into the body of Kirra Potter.
Kirra stood before them, her body battered and bruised, there was blood pouring from various parts of her body, but alive. Her eyes slowly fluttered open, and she looked up at the faces surrounding her, her vision blurry from the tears that still clung to her lashes.
Kirra felt her knees buckle underneath her and just as she was about to hit the ground, Mattheo rushed forwards, grabbing onto her. He wrapped his arms around her, burying his face into her neck. He held onto her as though if he let go then she would disappear.
"Someone get the medics!" Theodore quickly called out, rushing over to Kirra. Mattheo helped her sit down, holding her against his chest as the medics rushed over and began to help her. Theodore was looking down at her, tears pouring down his cheeks. He suddenly felt someone throw their arms around him.
Jaspers loud sobs could he heard as he held onto his cousin. This was the first time this had happened, and it felt unusual for both of them, but Theodore still instinctively wrapped his arms around his cousin, the two of them holding onto each other, crying in relief.
"I - I..." Kirra tried to speak out but she couldnt seem to form any of the words that she wanted to say
"Hey, hey, it's okay, youre okay. I've got you," Mattheo told her, tears running off his cheeks and landing on her. Kirra looked up at him through hazy eyes and reached her hand up, cupping his face. She softly dragged her thumb over his skin, collecting a few tear drops.
Kirra was overwhelmed by the emotions washing over her. She could hardly believe that she was back, that they were here with her, and that they were all safe. Tears welled up in her eyes again as she hugged Mattheo back tightly, clinging to him as if he were her lifeline.
"I'm sorry," she whispered to him softly as the medics and Madam Pomfrey began to quickly try and heal her wounds, "I didn't want any of this to happen. I didn't want any of you to worry or get hurt."
There were more medics down there now as they had come down from the hospital wing when they had saw the dragon, worried that students would get hurt. They were doing their best to make sure that it was certain she was okay.
Mattheo shook his head softly, more tears falling down, "dont apologise... I'm just glad youre okay," he said to her.
She smiled softly at him. He cupped her cheeks, placing a kiss on her lips, his hair tickling her forehead. He rubbed her cheeks affectionately as he looked down at her, "you're okay and that's what matters."
The nurses had closed most of the wounds. Madam Pomfrey, who had been working diligently to ensure Kirra's injuries were properly tended to, finally stepped back, a mixture of exhaustion and relief on her face. "You were incredibly fortunate, Miss Potter. I've never seen anything like that..."
Kirra offered the nurse a weak smile before turning her attention back to Mattheo. "I love you, I love you so much," she said, her voice filled with love and adoration. "I'm not ready to leave you... I don't think I ever will be"
"You're not going anywhere," Mattheo said, "I'm gonna make sure of that okay... im gonna do better, I promise, im going to protect you better."
He couldn't help but blame himself, he wanted to be able to protect her. he wanted to get stronger so that he could protect her. He was dying to talk to her about what had just happened... but he decided against it, not wanting to stress her out. The teachers surrounding them wanted to know the same thing
"I think we can all agree that this wasn't the way we thought tonight was going to turn out," Jasper spoke up. Kirra looked away from Mattheo and noticed that Jasper and Theodore were now standing next to her.
Her eyes suddenly shot open as more memories of the night flooded into her mind, "Harry! Where's Harry, is he okay?" She exclaimed, sitting up quickly
Madam Pomfrey hissed, "stop moving so much or you're going to open your wounds again!" She scolded the girl. Mattheo quickly pulled her into his chest, his tears soaking her shirt as he held onto her as if his life depended on it.
"Your stupid brother is fine! You're the one who fucking died you idiot," Mattheo muttered to her, one arm wrapped around her body while the other was placed against the back of her head.
"Merlin, could you stop trying to die on us for like 5 fucking minutes please? Youre going to give me grey hairs before I even graduate," Theodore scolded her, a small chuckle falling from his lips as he reached up to wipe the tears off his face.
Mattheo hesitated before loosening his grip and unwrapping his arms from the girl, giving Theodore a small nod. Theodore threw his arms around her, "You're a dick you know that, always making us worry," he mumbled into her hair. Jasper knelt down, throwing his arms around her
"You try and pull shit like that again and I'll kill you myself," Jasper, who had been standing beside them, couldn't contain his own emotions. He knelt down, his arms circling Kirra as he pressed his forehead against her shoulder. His voice was soft but filled with a heartfelt promise. Students around them were thankful that Kirra Potter had been brought back, but none of them knew what to think.
How has she become a dragon? How the hell was she even alive right now?
Nearby, Madam Pomfrey had taken a step back, giving the friends their moment but keeping a watchful eye on Kirra's condition. The nurse couldn't fathom the events that had transpired, but she was relieved to see Kirra alive and seemingly well.
The teachers, too, stood at a distance, their expressions a blend of relief and concern. Professor McGonagall, in particular, couldn't tear her gaze away from the group. Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke to the other teachers. "It's nothing short of a miracle... though I'd expect nothing less from you Aunt Ophelia."
Kirra suddenly began to push herself up off the ground. Mattheo's eyes went wide as he helped her up, concern and confusion on his face, "I don't think you should be standing..." Kirra ignored him and looked over at Dumbledore, her face cold and stern. Her eyes locked onto his with an intensity that made even the wise old wizard feel a shiver of apprehension.
Mattheo, Theodore, and Jasper exchanged glances, concern etched into their features as they watched their her confront the man.
Mattheo couldn't help but express his worry. "little badger, are you sure you're up for this? You should be resting," he muttered, his voice laced with concern.
Kirra couldn't help but smile softly at the nickname. It had been a while. Kirra turned her attention back to Dumbledore, her face now a mask of seriousness. "We need to talk," she declared, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Albus Dumbledore hesitated before nodding his head softly. The teachers looked confused as Kirra walked over to the headmaster and then the two walked off to a part of the field where nobody could hear them.
"Miss Po-"
"We need to talk, Albus," Kirra cut him off, "I'm just going to skip straight to the point alright. You ever fire a spell in his direction again, and I'll kill you myself," she snapped, her green eyes had lost their usual glint. There was nothing but darkness behind them.
"Miss Potter, he d-"
"No. I'm talking now, so keep your mouth shut and listen," she snapped, taking a threatening step towards him. "I'm calling the shots now, you got that? I'm not that stupid ignorant girl anymore. I know enough shit that could put you in Azkaban, but I need you around because youre going to help me."
Dumbledore straightened slightly, his expression grave. "Help you?" he inquired, his voice gentle.
"You're a strong wizard, probably the strongest person the Wizarding World has seen, and while Voldemort is still here, my family is in trouble," she spoke plainly. "You are the only person in this world that Voldemort fears and I'd be a fucking idiot to send you to Azkaban. You're smart, you know what i'm saying."
Dumbledore nodded softly, oddly silent. "You're not going to expel any of them. The safest place for them is Hogwarts," Kirra asserted. "You're going to say it was all a big misunderstanding and that you can understand why they acted the way they did. You're going to do everything in your power to keep them safe."
Dumbledore considered her words carefully, his gaze fixed on the determined young witch before him. "Miss Potter, I understand your concerns, and I share them. But I cannot simply ignore the use of trying to attack teachers... especially on school grounds. The safety of all students is my utmost priority."
Kirra's face remained unyielding. "Then I suggest you find a way to ensure their safety without expelling them," she replied, her tone unwavering. "Because if you don't, I will make sure that the Wizarding World knows every secret you've been hiding."
"You're gonna do everything in your power to make sure they don't get expelled," Kirra spat. "I'm willing to do anything to keep them safe and I can't do that if they all get sent to different schools."
Dumbledore's eyes held a hint of resignation as he nodded slowly. "Very well, Miss Potter. I will do everything in my power to keep them safe. But you must promise to work with me and not take matters into your own hands."
Kirra's expression hardened, "you don't get to make demands. If I need to take matters into my own hands then I will," She turned on her heel and walked back to her friends, who were anxiously awaiting her return.
The trio of Slytherins watched her approach, their concern evident on their faces. Theodore spoke up first, his voice filled with worry. "What happened?"
Kirra offered them a reassuring smile as she embraced them, her voice filled with gratitude and determination. "We're going to be okay, guys. Trust me."
