Last week, Steve regained his ability to talk, Pony started therapy, Johnny got released, and yesterday morning, I did too.
We had an interview for a news series yesterday.
The Few That Survived: The Red Missing Rain Case
It's an hour long run through of life after getting saved. So many big networks have already asked to do a documentary, or reenactment of what happened. It's crazy how people will use trauma for entertainment.
I give Steve a kiss and scoot him over so I can sit.
"Take my space on away, pretty boy." He whistled.
"Stop it." I was blushing at his comment.
"Okay are y'all ready?" Mrs. Randle smiled, everyone and there family was in this bitch, ready to watch this damn documentary.
"Welcome to The Few That Survived, the following interviews were from the male survivors of the Red Missing Rain case. We were live at the hospital to talk to the victims."- Katie Nelson (interview, news lady)
*cut to her being outside the first room*
"Inside this room is Brad Foster, let's go inside and see how he's doing."- Katie
*walks inside*
"Hi Brad, mom, dad, sister." *hand shake*- Katie
*they all say hi*
"I'll take a seat right here so we can get started."- Katie
"Okay." *in gay high school boy*- Brad, 16
"What is life for you now that you cannot move below your waist?"- Katie
"It's hard dude, I normally run track, and I walk my dog. I mean I was normal, ya'know?"- Brad
"When do you start therapy for you legs?"- Katie
"Hopefully sometime this week or next."- Brad
"Are excited for that?"- Katie
"Very much so. I'm happy I'm here."- Brad
*camera change*
"I see that your crying, mom. What's going through your head?"- Katie
"When I look at Brady I still see my happy little boy, and now he's stuck in bed like this. It's hard. To see things holding your kids back."- Brad's Mom
"I feel that." *nods in dramatic news mom* *pause* "okay well I have eight other people to get to, so I'll let you all go." *leaves*- Katie
*cut to the next door*
"Behind this one is Chase Arnold. Let's see how he is."- Katie
*goes inside*
"Hi, I'm Katie."
*hellos*
"You must be Chase?" *hand shake*- Katie
"Yeah."- Chase, 15
"Aww you are too cute."- Katie
"Thank you."- Chase
"How's life been with out your legs?"- Katie
"It's actually a lot better because my legs were crushed and they really were just a lot of pain."-Chase
"Ah wow. That's terrible. Are okay with the fact we won't ever walk the same or use the lower half of your body how you usually would?"- Katie
"Yeah, I'm really just happy to be out of pain."- Chase
*happy nod* "I love that for you Chase, but I have to go now."- Katie
"Bye, thank you for talking with me."- Chase
*melts away in white woman* "Aw no problem."- Katie
*cut/ next door*
"This is the youngest victim at fourteen. PonyBoy Curtis."- Katie
*goes inside* "hi." *small wave*- Katie
"Hi."- Pony
*hello's to his parents*
*takes a seat* "how's life been PonyBoy?"- Katie
"It's been okay."- Pony
"I see you don't see any cast or anything on you. And now we're just in a normal room, no bed or anything what's up?"- Katie
"Uhh I have bruises and my body still kinda hurts, but other than that I'm physically okay."- Pony
"What's your mental aspects?"- Katie
"Uhh." *shakey voice* "I have depression." *starts crying* "and ptsd, and every little reminder takes me back. Especially because I don't have anything physical to worry about, my thoughts kind of just take me were I don't wanna be."- Pony
*wiping her tears* "oh my gosh. You poor baby. I'm so sorry PonyBoy. You take care. If I ever see you again. I hope it's better than I left you."-Katie
"Bye."- Pony
*leaves*- Katie

"Okay so inside this door is Tony Harold, and he just had surgery for his chest two days ago."- Katie
*goes inside/ hello's*
"Hi Tony."- Katie
"Hey."- Tony, 18
"Was surgery successful?"- Katie
"Sure was."- Tony
"Are happy to be off your ventilator?"-Katie
"Yes, definitely. It was so sorry. I felt like I was eighty or something."-Tony
"I bet. Anyway Tony it was great talking to you."- Katie
"Great talking to you too."- Tony
*leaves*
*cut to the next room*
"The other side of this door is quiet. Raymond Robinson (16) has just woken up from his coma Wednesday and is regaining consciousness."- Katie
*walks in*
"Are you dad?"- Katie
*in tears* "Yes."- Raymond's Dad
"How is it for you, to see your son like this?"- Katie
"It's horrible the last time I saw him before this hospital bed was when he left for school two months ago. The last words I've heard my son say was 'bye dad, see you when I get home.'"- Raymond's Dad
"Ugh my heart goes out to you, Mr. Robinson. Are you dealing with this alone?"- Katie
"My mom and my brothers have been helping me, but my wife passed six years ago delivering my daughter so other than that yeah."- Mr. Robinson
"I'm so sorry for your loss and I hope your son makes a strong recovery."- Katie
"Thank you."- Mr. Robinson
*leaves*- Katie
*cut/ next room*
"Okay so we all here with another discharged victim. Sodapop Curtis, who is PonyBoy's brother. I see you've just been discharged Soda based on you wrist band?"- Katie
"I just got out the mental asylum."-Soda, 17
"Oh no. What happened?"- Katie
"I have PPD which is basically a paranoia disorder, and a form of PTSD and schizophrenia mixed together. It makes me paranoid when they'res seemingly not really anything threatening me. A severe anxiety that makes me very distant with other people."- Soda
"Do you still have all of that or did the asylum help?"- Katie
"It definitely helped especially because when I left I felt crazy. It taught how to cope and feel more okay with myself and people around me again."- Soda
"I'm happy you feel better Sodapop. It was nice meeting you."- Katie
"It was nice meeting you too."-Soda
*leaves*
*cut/ next door*
"Behind this door is our pregnant victim, who has been discharged. Johnny Cade."- Katie
*goes in and just sits down like a normal interview* "hi."- Katie
"Hey." *small smile*- Johnny, 16
"You are too adorable Johnny how are you doing?"-Katie
"I'm doing pretty alright, but it just feels weird being the only one that's alright."- Johnny
"You still have your own problems don't you?"- Katie
"Yeah, but everyone else has bigger ones."- Johnny
"Problems are problems Johnny. Your not everyone else."- Katie
"I know, I guess I'm just getting used to life after this whole thing?"- Johnny
"Hey has the kidnapping affected your life?"- Katie
"I don't really think I'll ever be the same. I'll eventually look the same and talk the same and act the same. But I want ever get myself back."- Johnny
"That is so deep Johnny. My best wishes to you."- Katie

"Okay so behind this door is our last victim, who is currently unlocking after being diagnosed with locked-in syndrome, a rare condition that causes paralysis below the eyes, he currently cannot move anything below his chin. Let's meet Steve Randle."- Katie
*walks in* "ohh I see some birth balloons are these yours Steve?"- Katie
"Yes ma'am."- Steve
"Aw how old did you turn?"- Katie
*smiling* "I turnt eighteen earlier this week."- Steve
"Well happy belated eighteenth."-Katie

"You are such a happy soul, how do you do it paralyzed?"- Katie
"I'm really just happy to be here. I happy my boyfriend's okay. I'm happy my family's still here. I'm happy I can talk now. I have a lot of reasons to smile."- Steve
"I love your attitude Steve, do you plan on physically therapy?"- Katie
"Yes ma'am."- Steve
"What's the first thing your gonna do when you're back to yourself?"- Katie
"I'm gonna pick up my little sister and toss her like how I did when she was small."- Steve
"Aww how old is your sister?"-Katie
"She's thirteen."- Steve
"Do you like being a big brother?"- Katie
"I love it, she's like a built in friend for me that I get to embarrass." *laugh*- Steve
"You have a such a sweet attitude Steve. I'm wishing the best for you."- Katie
"Thank you."- Steve
"Anytime."- Katie
*back in her office place where it started*
"It's amazing to see how much the boys have healed in three weeks. This was The Few That Survived, with Katie Nelson."
"Ew that was so sappy." I cringed.
"That's cause she asked like the dumbest questions you could possibly ask a person." Johnny shook his head.
"True." I agreed.
I'm just happy we're all in a better place.
Crazy how a better place, can mean so many things.
