A few days later, Alexandra and Charles found themselves in London, staying at her vibrant and eclectic flat. Charles couldn't help but be amazed by the interior—neon lights, an explosion of colors, and quirky, maximalist furniture that created a unique and welcoming atmosphere. Despite the visual delight, Alexandra was still recovering from her recent ordeal, nursing a bad concussion, but she was determined to make the most of her time with Charles in London. She had begged him to go out and explore the city together.

They were at a charming Italian restaurant near her flat, indulging in delicious pasta dishes while enjoying each other's company. Alexandra's spirits seemed lifted, even though she was still healing, and the atmosphere in the restaurant felt cozy and intimate. As they chatted, their connection was evident, and they shared genuine moments of laughter and conversation.

During their dinner at the cozy Italian restaurant, a sneaky snapshot taken by someone nearby irritated Charles, evident from the slight furrow of his brows. Alexandra, however, responded with a hearty laugh, brushing it off. "What did you expect?" she teased him. "We've practically been caught on camera being all cuddly for the past couple of months."

Charles looked momentarily confused, then acknowledged her point with a nod, conceding that their public displays of affection had indeed drawn attention.

With a shrug, Alexandra assured him, "I really don't mind the curiosity. You shouldn't either." She managed to convince him not to let it bother him, her optimistic nature shining through. Her next comment was accompanied by a playful grin. "I mean, we're practically playing the part of a couple, and the world thinks we're dating. Yet, here we are, no labels."

Charles chuckles, the tension from earlier moments seeming to dissolve in the warmth of their conversation. "So, what if I were to ask you right now?" he playfully wonders, raising an eyebrow.

Alexandra playfully raised an eyebrow. "You better plan something impressive then, none of that average stuff," she teased, her eyes twinkling.

Charles nodded enthusiastically, agreeing with her standards. "Deal. I'll make sure it's a date you won't forget."

Alexandra grinned, feeling the warmth of his hand in hers. "You know, I'm sorry it took me so long to get here," she admits, her tone sincere. "It's been a whirlwind, with all the drama and the media frenzy. But I'm finally feeling like I can breathe again, and you've been a big part of that."

He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "Hey, no apologies needed, Mon Amor. I told you, I'd wait until you were ready. And I meant it."

Continuing to enjoy their meal, Alexandra turned her attention to Charles, his eyes lighting up as he ate a forkful of pasta, and teased, "You'd happily eat pasta morning, noon, and night, wouldn't you?"

Charles laughed, nodding enthusiastically. "Absolutely!"

Alexandra grinned, then mockingly changed her mind. "Well, I guess I could settle for that, but honestly, I'm all about pizza. Can't give up my cheesy cravings."

Their laughter filled the air as they exchanged playful banter, relishing the lighthearted moments they were sharing.

As their laughter faded, the atmosphere shifted when a sudden change came over Alexandra. Her vibrant eyes dulled and became glassy, and a pained expression crossed her face. Instinctively, her hand moved to cradle her head, a telltale sign of the lingering concussion she was still battling. The room seemed to shrink around them as concern etched deep lines across Charles' face. In an instant, he leaned closer, reaching out to hold her hand.

His voice carried a palpable sense of worry as he asked, "Are you okay, Amor?"

Although she mustered a weak smile, it was clear to Charles that something was wrong. Her attempt to play it off couldn't mask the discomfort she was experiencing. Charles' protective instincts flared, prompting him to gently press further, "Tell me the truth, are you in pain?"

Reluctantly, Alexandra's façade crumbled, and she nodded. Her admission carried a weight that resonated in the tense air between them, "Yeah, the headache is really bothering me." She murmured in French.

Charles leaned in closer to Alexandra, his brows furrowed in genuine concern, making sure she was okay. With a gentle yet determined tone, he spoke,  "Let's go home."

She felt awful about cutting the evening short and attempted to convince him otherwise, but his concern for her well-being remained steadfast.

"Lex, I'm really worried about you," Charles admitted gently, his hand resting on her arm. "Let's just go back to your apartment so you can rest."

She sighed, giving him a weak smile. "You're too good to me, you know?" After a gentle yet persistent back-and-forth, she finally relented, excusing herself to use the restroom.

During her absence, Charles took care of the bill, but he had an additional plan. He discreetly approached the waiter, inquiring if the restaurant offered delivery service. Learning that they did, Charles secretly placed an order for more food to be delivered to Alexandra's apartment, ensuring she wouldn't have to suffer with his cooking in case she got hungry later. He left a generous tip as a gesture of gratitude.

As Alexandra returned, Charles immediately noticed the subtle signs of her discomfort. She looked slightly pale, and he could see that she was struggling with dizziness and unsteadiness. Concern for her well-being deepened his determination to ensure she was okay.

"Hey, Lexi, you don't look so good," he gently remarked, slipping his arm around her for support. "Let's get you home."

She leaned on him, appreciating his steadying presence, and managed a grateful smile. "I hate feeling like this."

Arm in arm, they left the restaurant, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the city streets. The journey to her apartment was a quiet one, with Charles maintaining a watchful eye on her, making sure she was comfortable every step of the way.

Once they were back in her apartment, Charles gently settled Alexandra onto the sofa, instructing her to stay put. She opened her mouth to protest, but the look he gave her was a mixture of concern and sternness that prompted her to relent. She watched him attentively as he moved around her kitchen, an unspoken comfort settling over her as she felt his protective presence.

In no time, he returned with a glass of water and her medication, handing them to her with a soft smile. "Here, take these. It should help with the headache."

She nodded gratefully, her fingers wrapping around the glass as she swallowed the pills. As he disappeared into her room, she furrowed her brow in curiosity, wondering what he was up to. When he reappeared a few minutes later, her eyes widened in surprise at the items he carried.

A warm smile tugged at the corners of her lips as he handed her pajamas, a cozy blanket, and even makeup wipes. Alexandra was genuinely touched by his thoughtfulness, feeling a surge of affection for him. She was about to attempt to stand when another wave of dizziness hit her, and Charles quickly intervened.

"Easy there," he murmured, his voice gentle but firm. "You're not going anywhere. Sit down."

She attempted to stand, but the dizziness returned, causing Charles to swiftly intervene, urging her to sit down. She obeyed, realizing that he was genuinely concerned about her well-being. When he asked if she was comfortable with his help, she hesitated for a moment before agreeing, trusting him implicitly in that vulnerable moment.

As he carefully assisted her in changing into her pajamas, she couldn't help but lighten the mood with a playful comment, "Well, I didn't think this would be the first time you saw me in my underwear."

Charles blushed, his ears turning a subtle shade of pink. Compliments weren't always his strong suit, but he managed to find his words. "You... uh, look great," he stammered, finding himself momentarily flustered by her charm.

She laughed, a genuine sound that filled the room with a bit of levity, "Thanks, I wore it for you."

He chuckled, a genuine warmth spreading across his face, "Is that so? Well, I'm honored." he kissed her forehead lovingly. "You look beautiful, Mon Amor."

Once she was comfortably changed into her pajamas, Charles guided her back to the sofa, arranging the blanket over their laps. With a gentle touch, he turned on the TV and navigated through the channels before settling on an old black-and-white French movie.

As the film began to play, Alexandra leaned into Charles, seeking the comfort of his embrace. He responded instinctively, his arms wrapping around her in a protective and reassuring hold. In the cozy cocoon of the blanket, they found solace from the world outside, and the warmth of their connection seemed to banish the discomfort she'd been experiencing.

She offered him another apology for having to leave the restaurant earlier, her voice laced with genuine regret. Charles, however, quickly dismissed her concerns, his voice soft and understanding. "Hey, don't worry about it. Your health comes first, and besides, I'm not about to let you suffer through a headache just for some pasta."

"But you love pasta." She wearily protested.

"And I Lov-like you more." he tried to reply but got his words tangled and awkwardly laughed. Alexandra looked up at him with a small smile.

"I like you too, you know," she whispered.

The black and white movie played in the background, the characters moving through their own stories of love and adversity, while Alexandra and Charles found their own kind of comfort in each other's company.

An hour later, there was a knock at the door, and Charles quickly went to collect the food delivery. He brought the delicious-smelling meal back to the sofa, where Alexandra was half-asleep, having found comfort in the movie and the embrace. The aroma of pizza filled the air, and her eyes lit up as she realized what he had done.

She was surprised and delighted by this unexpected treat, a gesture that spoke volumes about Charles' thoughtfulness. She looked at him with a mixture of appreciation and amazement, a warmth in her heart she hadn't felt in a long time. As he went to grab some plates, she felt her eyes moistening with tears, overwhelmed by the genuine care he had shown her.

When he returned and noticed her tears, he was concerned, thinking she might be in pain. He knelt down in front of her and held her hands in his. "Mon Ange, what's wrong? Is it your head?"

She quickly reassured him, her voice filled with gratitude, "No, Charles, it's not pain, it's just... I'm touched. I've never had someone put me first and be so considerate and caring like you have. It means the world to me."

Moved by her words, Charles leaned in and kissed her gently, a gesture that spoke louder than any words. "I'm here for you, Lexi," he whispered, his voice brimming with sincerity. "And I'm not going anywhere. You deserve all the care and love in the world, and I'm more than happy to give it to you."

She smiled through her tears, feeling a sense of comfort and belonging she had longed for. "I'm lucky to have you," she admitted, her voice a soft whisper.

"And I, you."
