Lyra's POV
"Arthur" i said as he held my waist, pulling me close
"We meet again" he said huskily, drifting me through the crowd smoothly
"I thought about it" he said and i looked at him
"You thought about what?" I asked confused
"Your threat" he said and i blinked
Whats there to think about a threat?
"I have decided to stay quiet" he said and the invisible weight from my shoulders had seemingly disappeared
"Good decision" i said softly as he pulled me even closer, and by now- my chest was almost touching his
"But-" he said
There we go- if he's going to ask for something ridiculous in return-
"Let me help you" he said
"You? Want to help me?" I asked in case i heard it wrong
"Yes" he said and i slowed down
"Let me get this right. You want to help me with something thats potentially dangerous and has absolutely nothing to do with you?" I asked
"Yes" he said
"Okay and what do you want in return?" I asked as the dance came to an end
"Well nothing" he said as we walked away from the dance floor
"Thats quite hard to believe Vinci, you probably want something" i said
"Nothing, i swear" he said
"Then why are you helping me?" I asked
"I don't know- maybe because I'm bored?" He said and i scoffed
"Thats the worst reasoning I've heard in 23 years of my existence" i said
"Well, believe it or not- but i really have no idea why i want to help you. I want nothing in return but i just simply want to be there for you" he said
"Lets consider it as a token of my regret" he said and i looked at him
"Why? What regret?" I asked and he just smiled
"I just want to help you with revenge for your dad, something I wasn't able to do for mine" he said and i immediately knew what he was talking about
I couldn't speak after he said that- i suddenly felt guilty for something I didn't do
"Im sorry" was all i said and he chuckled
"It was years ago- you're good love" he said trying to cheer up
As we drifted our conversation, Melissa walked over to us
"Arthur?" She said confused and i looked at her
"Melissa" he said calmly
I bit my lip as the two exes looked at each other. I don't know if they're comfortable working with each other
"Is he-?"
"Yes" i said to her and she smiled
"I don't mind" she said and my eyes lit up
"Really?" I asked and she nodded
"This isn't about me. The last thing i should be doing is getting in between of your plans"she reasoned and i smiled
I waved to Andrew and as soon as he got there, i briefed him a little about the new involvement
"Arthur" Arthur extended his hand to Andrew who after a moment of consideration- shook it
"Melissa" Melissa said softly and smiled at Andrew
"Now that we're all acquainted, lets get a move on" i said clasping my hands together
"Let the show begin"
