Lyra's POV
"Melissa?" I said confused and she just stared at me
"Oh my goodness, its really you" she said, instantly pulling me in for a hug
"How can this happen?-"
"Melissa, can we talk somewhere private?" I held her quickly, eyeing a few people's attention around us
"Yeah sure" she said understanding and she led me away from the party
We entered the almost empty garden and walked further into a greenhouse
Just outside of it, Melissa stopped and looked at me expectantly
"So?" She asked me and i looked around
My brain was battling within if i should or should not tell her everything
"Why did you fake your own death?" She asked me suddenly and i bit my lip
"I had my reasons" i muttered and she scoffed
"Were your reasons more important than our friendship? Did you not care about me or trust me enough to let me know you were at least safe?" She went on and on and only now i realized how much of a bi*ch i was being to her
"Sorry" i said and she stopped talking
"Why" she asked me and i sighed
"Because" and i told her everything. A brief explanation but enough to make her understand
"Oh my god" she said after processing the information
"It cant be" she placed a hand on her mouth, gasping
"My dad- h-he k-lled your dad?" She said in disbelief and i nodded
"And no offense Melissa but i am back for revenge" i explained to her
There was no point in lying. I trust her.
"But Lyra its too dangerous" she said and i blinked
"You're not mad at me?" I asked confused
"Why would i be? I haven't experienced what you have. I can't imagine how insufferable these 3 years were for you, I'm in no position to comment" she said softly, placing a comforting hand on my arm
"But now that i have the chance to be there for you, please let me" she said, smiling
"Its too dangerous Melissa, plus its your own dad" i tried to reason with her
"I'm not saying to kill him, but now that i know what he did- I don't think i can ever forgive him myself" she said
"I know his business wasn't all glitter and gold, but this is too much. If i was in your position, I would've killed that person long long ago" she said and with every word she spoke to me, i was even more stunned
"How are you even saying this right now" i muttered and she smiled
"I care about you Lyra, and maybe not just my dad- but everyone who has done wrong to you, i want to help you with the revenge" she said
"Are you sure?"
"100%- I don't want to lose you again Lyra" she said and i smiled
I pulled her in for a hug and we stayed like that for a few minutes, until my heart calmed down
Soon, i pulled back
"Just keep this a secret. No one knows I'm alive" i said to her and she giggled
"Obviously not. I know how revenge works" she laughed and i sheepishly smiled
Not knowing that while i had another person on board with this revenge, someone else had heard us and did not seem too joyful about this news.
