Haerin had a hard time at school as it was. She was bullied by the same guy everyday and that was enough as it was.
But now, there was a new transfer student at her school.
Y/N.
- Haerin POV -
"Give it back!" I lowly told Jeongin-ssi.
From just looking at him, you wouldn't think that this guys is a bully.
Apparently, he never was a bully..... that's until I transferred to this school.
Because of my small figure and introvertedness I was very easy to pick on. Specially by Jeongin.... and also by the new transfer student, Y/n.
I guess you could call Y/n a bully too.
"I told you, you're my personal book carrier!" Jeongin raised his voice at me with a smirk.
Suddenly, someone snatched my science book from him and pushed Jeongin-ssi away from me. There was an unknown back facing me, but I groaned in annoyance once I saw the watch on the person's wrist.
It was Y/n.
"Nooo!!" I whined under my breath.
"I told you, she's mine. She is my target!" Y/n growled at Jeongin.
"Or maybe I should tell her how easy it is to see that you like her. I mean you must pick on her for a reason!" Y/n chuckled.
I saw Jeongin-ssi look at me from behind Y/n and he scoffed. Suddenly, he just started to walk away.
Lately, Y/n had been coming to save me every single time Jeongin would mess with me, but it wasn't for a good cause. It was just so they could bully me themselves.
"I told you to tell me when he's bothering you," Y/n turned to give me my book.
I quickly snatched it from Y/n's hand and started to walked away. Y/n was quick to grab my wrist.
"No 'thank you'? Do you not have manners?" Y/n angrily asked.
I shook my head 'no' in anger.
"I can't hear you. Are you mute?" Y/n got in my face, gripping my wrist tighter.
"No, stop! You're hurting me," I yelled in anger.
Y/n breathe out and reluctantly let me go.
I gave Y/n a death glare before walking away to my class.
- Y/N POV -
"She's so cute," I thought to myself as I watched Kang Haerin walk away.
From the moment I saw her, I fell in love.
Her looks were to die for, but that wasn't what attracted me to her.
"Maybe one day," I sighed out to myself before finally turning around to head to class.
The day was long and boring. Like always, I fell asleep in a few of my classes, I got sent to the office for fighting with Jeongin, and I was threatened to be expelled.
"What's the matter with you?! You weren't like this before," My brother yelled.
He was upset because he had to pick me up after school and have a talk with the principal.
Lately, my brother had been getting angry with me a lot easier because I had been acting up a lot. I was never really a bad kid before. I got good grades, I never bothered anyone, and I was treated everyone with respect....
But that all changed when I arrived at my new school.
"Just get out of my face!! Go rake the leaves outside or something!!" He angrily huffed out.
I took a deep breath and did as he asked.
I walked out to the front porch and grabbed a broom. I started sweeping up the leaves as I was asked to, when I suddenly noticed one of our neighbors seating up on their balcony.
It was Jeongin.
I shook my head in annoyance.
I thought Jeongin was an idiot. With his looks, he could get any girl he wanted but instead he decided to bully them.
"Hey, Dumbass!!" I yelled to get his attention.
Jeongin looked down at me and then just got up to go back inside his house.
Me and Jeongin had been neighbors since we were babies. I had always heard that sometimes he missed behaved or that he wasn't as good as his parents made him out to be, but I didn't realize how bad his behavior actually was until I transferred to his school.
Suddenly, Jeongin walked out the front of his house and glared at me.
"What? Came here to bully me?" I coldly asked him.
He didn't say anything in return. Jeongin just smirked and signaled me to look towards the end of the street.
I turned to see what he wanted me to see and my heart started to flutter.
"Her smile is so pretty," I exhaled under my breath.
Haerin and her friends were walking down past our houses.
"Hey, idiot! Watch this," Jeongin suddenly said.
He then grabbed a broom from his yard and held it out through his fence. Just as he did that, Haerin and her friends were walking past his house... causing Haerin to trip over the broom.
I tighten my jaw in anger.
Jeongin raised an eyebrow at me and winked, before trying to act a fool.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. The broom just slipped from my hands. Are you hurt?" He walked over to try to help Haerin off the floor.
My chest was heaving at this point.
I was pissed off by Jeongin's action, but I still had no reason to intervene.
"Yah! Don't touch her!" Haerin's friend, Hanni, suddenly stepped up to defend Haerin.
Haerin's friends were always very good at protecting her, but there was times when they weren't around to protect her. So, that's when I'd step in.
"Look princess, I'm not here to waste my time with you. I only want to make sure my fragile friend here isn't hurt," Jeongin taunted Hanni.
"She is not your friend!" Minji, another one of Haerin's friends, got in Jeongin's face.
"Ooww, you're hurting me!" Haerin suddenly squealed out.
I looked closer and I realized that Jeongin hadn't let go of Haerin's arm. He was squeezing it as hard as he could. I wasn't having none of it and I finally stepped up to intervene.
"Let her go!" I coldly told Jeongin.
"Great the other bully is here too!" Haerin's friend, Danielle, exclaimed.
"Seriously, you two need to leave Haerin unnie alone!" The maknae of the group, Hyein, suddenly yelled.
I didn't really like being called a bully, but it was the role I had taken on...
So, I really had no right to complain.
"She said you're hurting her. Let her go before I turn your face into pulp," I sternly ordered.
Jeongin licked his bottom lip and glared at me, before finally letting go of Haerin.
"Get out of here!" I angrily told the girls.
The girls hurriedly started to walk away and I sighed out in frustration. We could heard them all making comments as they walked away, "fucking assholes".
"I'll admit I like her, if you admit it too," Jeongin smugly told me.
"You're delusional," I huffed out before going back to what I was doing.
- Haerin POV -
"I can't decide who's worse, Y/n or Jeongin," Minji unnie sighed out.
"Definitely Y/n," Dani unnie commented.
"Yeah, Y/n got to our school and just started harassing anyone they saw!" Hanni unnie agreed.
"I think Jeongin is worse. At least Y/n tries to defend Haerin unnie before bullying her," Hyein shared her thoughts.
I took a deep breath not really wanting to think about either of them.
"Can we change the subject?" I lowly asked.
"Oh, yeah!" Dani unnie quickly understood my discomfort and changed the subject.
The next morning, school went on as usual.
I always arrived at school early, so I wondered around the halls a bit. That's until I noticed that Y/n had arrived at school earlier than usual.
"Nope!" I whispered under my breath and tried to turn around.
"Kang Haerin!" Y/n yelled through the hall.
I froze in my tracks and turned to face Y/n.
My heart started racing like crazy. The closer Y/n got, the more nervous I became.
Y/n suddenly stopped in front of me, looked me up and down, before signaling me to follow them.
I took a deep breath and nervously followed.
Y/n and I ended up at the school gym. It was too early in the morning for any sport to be using it, so it was the perfect place to talk.
"I told you to tell me when he's bothering you," Y/n sighed out.
My heart was fluttering like crazy at how jealous Y/n looked.
"I told you, I don't want that reputation for you. My friends already don't like you as it is," I shyly responded.
When I first met Y/n, it was a bit miserable.
Y/n would bully my friends and a lot of other's around the school. I was always scared of them. Even though they never hurt me in anyway. It was more like harsh teasing.
"I don't care about my reputation. I just want you to be okay," Y/n looked really sad.
I stepped up to cup Y/n's face and looked them straight in the eyes, "I don't want this anymore. Can you please just-"
- Y/N POV -
Haerin was begging me again to stop bullying her. "I don't want this anymore. Can you please just-"
*BOOOMM*
Haerin was saying something, when I suddenly lost control of my anger. I pushed her against the wall and slammed my hand against it.
I was so pissed off that she wanted me to stop protecting her.
When I first arrived at this school, I told myself I would do anything to protect Haerin. Unfortunately, I didn't know who her friends were and weren't at the time. So, I accidentally ended up hurting some of her friends for teasing her.
That's mostly how I got my bully reputation.
I was just trying to protect Haerin, but I had no idea that it was just her friends teasing her.
"I told you, I don't want anyone to messing with you. If everyone is scared of me, then they won't even dare to mess with you," I huffed out.
Haerin looked me in the eyes and placed her hand on my chest.
"You're cute when you get angry, but you don't have to do that anymore," She gently ran her hand up the nape of my neck.
"But, I don't mind," I exhaled.
"I don't mind being the bully, for you. I don't mind it as long as it keeps you safe," I sniffled.... staring to tear up from anger.
I hated to think that Jeongin would just go back to making Haerin's life miserable if I stopped acting all tough.
Haerin gently pulled me closer and our lips touched. I deepen the kiss, starting to give into Haerin's request.
It was odd how we ended up like this.
I had found Haerin crying out in the track field one day. She was crying because Jeongin had dumped out everything in her backpack and torn up her homework.
I had offered to help her, but she looked terrified of me.
After a bit of convincing, I managed to get her to let me help and ended up walking her home. On the way home, I confessed to her that I liked her and I was really sorry for messing with her friends.
I explained how I was just trying to protect her.
I guess what I said must have meant something to her, because the next day... Haerin told me that it was okay to bully her as long as I kept her safe.
I don't really know how we got to the kissing and the makeout sessions, but I wasn't complaining.
"Please," Haerin whispered against my lips.
"Please just protect me like a normal person?"
