Ace POV.
I heard my sister crying while shouting my name and that was enough for me to bolt out of my bed. I was in my pyjamas and furthermore no one would care. I walked out of my room, went to theirs but I couldn't find anyone. I heard some noise downstairs and I walked over. Something was wrong but I could not phase what was wrong.
I met everyone there apart from Adrianna and Ivan.
"What's wrong? Why are you screaming while shouting my name?" I said.
"Iv….an….Ivan is gone," she said in between her cries.
"What do you mean Ivan is gone?" I asked because I was pretty confused.
"Son, all our men are down. We were under attack," Dad said and I did not believe what he said so I walked out of the house to look for my men but all of them were down.
How did this happen?
"When? How?" I asked.
"As usual, you know Abigail or I always wake him at midnight so that he can drink some water," Mike started explaining and I nodded my head urging him to continue. "She went to wake him up but she found his bed empty. She woke me up and we started searching for him around the house and in the process we found all of our men down."
I was beyond furious. How did this happen in my own house? I started punching the wall and throwing things near me. Mom and dad were shouting at me to stop but I was so angry and I didn't listen to them.
We heard some footsteps and I stopped to look at who it was.
"What's with all this noise?" Adrianna asked as she entered the living room. She looked around, I guess to see who was present in the first place. She was not guilty awake, the way she talked and walked betrayed her.
"Ivan…." Abigail tried saying but she was crying.
"What about him?" she asked, struggling to stay up but her eyes were open .
"He is gone," Mike said and that is when She was fully awake. She was so angry and I wondered why she was angry. It is not like Ivan is her child or nothing. In fact, she is a stranger to him.
"What the hell do you mean that he is gone?" She snapped and we all flinched.
"There was an attack in the house but they attacked our men silently. That is why we didn't hear anything. When Abigail went to check on Ivan, she found he was missing and that is when we realised all our men were dead," I explained. She nodded her head. I don't know why she isn't talking and I know she is bursting on the inside, that, I can tell.
"Are you sure your mafia is the most feared?" She asked angrily and I was furious. Who does she think she is talking to me like that? "Honestly you have a mole in your mafia and still haven't noticed." How could she tell that with just a short time?"Pray to God that I get that kid in the next forty eight hours cause if I don't, I will kill you," she said while glaring at me. Wait, did she just threaten me? I really wanted to beat the shit out of her but I couldn't.
Looking at the others, they were all shocked no one dares to threaten a don in his own home and get away with it. Where did she get all this courage in the first place? Immediately she said those words, she didn't wait for anyone else to talk, she just got out of the house and we later heard the engine of a car engine starting.
"Don't really blame her," dad said.
"She has gotten close with Ivan over a short period of time. You saw what happened at dinner," mom said.
It is true but that doesn't mean that she should threaten me! How is it my fault in the first place? I know believe her when she says that there is a mole.in our midst. How come everything was well calculated, we didn't even hear a single noise! The person even knows which Ivan's room is. I really hate myself now. I know get why Adrianna is blaming me. Deciding to excuse myself from them, I walked to the security footage room to watch it so that I can see whether I will see who they were or at least what they looked like. I discovered that every CCTV was hacked at that moment and I couldn't get anything from them. Sometimes it bothers me that every mafia has a hacker so they can hack the cameras before doing the damage that they are planning. Having enough of looking and replacing the footage. I walked back to the living room.
"Where were you?" Mom asked.
As I was about to answer, we heard the front door open and we looked in that direction.
Adrianna was inside and then looked at us. No, she was analysing us.
"What if we can call The Poison for help?" Mark asked and I Saw Adrianna halted. Why did she? I have so many questions but at the same time, I may be over thinking. Maybe she supports that we should contact the man. She looked at us one more time but specifically glared at me.
"Adrianna, where are you rushing to and fro?" Dad asked. We were all expecting her to talk rudely to him. She stopped on her track and faced us. I could see delay in her eyes but later relaxed.
"I was over the penthouse. I tried getting into the security footage but at that time, they were already shut," She said. I already knew that but the others didn't since I didn't get a chance to tell them.
"So what are we going to do now?" Abigail asked and she rolled my eyes. I glared at me and she returned the glare.
"When I was installing cameras in my room, I was with Ivan and he had pleaded with me to do so in his room," she said and we all turned their attention to her. Does that mean…..
"You mean his room has hidden cameras?" Mike asked and she nodded her head. I looked at everyone's eyes and saw that they now had a small hope.
"Not only that. But for anyone who has tried to get into my room, you have noticed something detects you," she said and some of us nodded our heads while others had confused faces.
"I also did that to his room. I was so sleepy that I didn't hear it beeping. Anyways, it should capture who it was even if they are in masks," she said. This woman never fails to amaze me. Even though I treat her badly, I can't deny the fact that I want her, all of her.
"How is that possible ?" Paul asked.
"Technology," she said and he nodded.
"He wasn't supposed to get his hands on Ivan apart from various people. That means the guy who took him is injured," she said and that is when I remembered the first time I tried to touch her belongings.
"I…I saw blood in the room," Mike said.
"There should be. I need to access my computers to see what happened in the room at that time. I will notify you all when I find something which can help us," She said and walked away from us before we could even ask her other questions.
I followed her but when I arrived outside her room, it was already locked. I knocked hoping that she wouldn't open but she didn't therefore I leaned against the door.
"Adrianna, please open the door," I shouted when she took so long in there. I just want to see what she is doing.
After some minutes, she opened the door but she didn't do that for me to get into her room. She walked past me and I followed her behind like a lost puppy.
When she got to the living room, all eyes snapped to her with one thing evident on their faces, hope! Hope that she had found out who ambushed our men and got hold of Ivan. I wonder if it were any other member of the family, would she be doing what she is doing right now?
"Derrick Valdamir and one of their men," she said and we had shocked faces. That's Elijah's brother.
"You know Vincenzo, if Elijah's brother can get to the mansion, do you think your mafia is strong?" she asked me and I freezed. She didn't wait for my answer cause she started walking away.
"Where are you going?" Mom asked.
"To find Derrick of course," she said.
"How will you find him if you don't have his location?" dad asked.
"You all think so low of me!" She said with a boring expression.
"Ace, don't forget what I told you. The time is clicking. If I fail to find him, say your goodbye," She said and walked away.
"Then I guess she has already found his location," Mark said and we nodded our heads agreeing with her.
"All I want is my baby," Abigail said. She has not stopped crying.
I didn't know what to do and even where to start. We were seated in the living room for more than two hours then we heard the door open. She walked carrying Ivan in her arms and Abigail ran to them.
"Baby," she exclaimed, making Ivan look at her.
"Mommy, Ria saved me from the bad guy," he said. His voice was trembling but he wanted to stay strong. That is Ivan. He believes that men should not cry no matter what.
"Yes baby," she said as she took him in her arms.
"Thank you so much, Adrianna," she said but Adrianna shrugged.
"I did it for him. He is such an angel and without him this huge mansion is boring and furthermore, he spends more time with me," she said as she walked upstairs.
"Wait," dad stopped her. "What happened to Derrick?"
"Dead," she said, then walked away leaving us with awe.
"And to think we saw her as the bad guy," Mark said.
"She is a good lady," mom said.
"Despite how we have treated her, she still went on and saved our grandson. We will always be grateful to her," dad said.
"Ivan, both of you need to sort out your issues. I don't care whether you fuck it out. But I want you to be at peace with her," mom said and I nodded my head.
"Mommy, I am sleepy," Ivan complained.
"Let's go to bed then," Abigail said and she stood up walking upstairs with Mike training behind her.
