"Right there Sasuke! Right there!"
"Sakura.."
"Oh my God Yes! Right there!"
"I don't see it Sakura.."
"SASUKE ITS RIGHT THERE, ITS CRAWLING!" Sakura screeched as she stood on Sasuke's bed. She spotted a big spider on his floor but honestly Sasuke didn't see it. He thought maybe she was hallucinating from her concussion.
"Oh shit." Sasuke said when he saw the spider jump.
Maybe she wasn't hallucinating.
"KILL IT!" She screamed as he moved with shoe in his hand swatting it where he saw the spider. "Did you get it?" She asked.
"Yeah, wanna see?" He asked as she covered her face with her hands. "Sasuke unless you want to be single for life you better throw that spider away right now!" She said.
"Single for life huh? Even you don't think that do you?" He teased as she flipped him off. "Just throw it away!" She said.
"Yeah yeah, I'm on it." He said leaving the room.
When he came back in, he slipped into his bed with her. "You sure you're okay over here tonight?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" She asked.
"Your Aunt seemed worried. Maybe she really wants to check on you." He said.
"I know.. but I don't think I'm ready to go home yet. Maybe tomorrow or the day after you know."
"Sakura you'll have to go back sooner than later. If you wait you'll only continue to feel scared to be there."
"I know." She said sighing pulling the blanket over her head. "If I go back would you spend the night with me atleast once, so I can feel comfortable?" She asked.
"Yes." He said.
"Thank you." She said coming from under the blanket. "How have you been feeling Sasuke? You tend to me so much I think we forget to check on you." Sakura said.
"I'm fine. Things are more intense for you than they are for me. If I was dealing with what you are right now I'm sure the attention would be the same." Sasuke said.
"Are you sure because helping someone with so much going on can put a dent in your mental health too."
"Trust me Sakura, I'm fine. If I weren't you'd know." He said.
"If my concussion clears by tomorrow, how do you think school will go? Do you think Itachi pressed the charges against Sage?" She asked.
"He did. When he called in about Shuko he also called in about her too." Sasuke said. "She has nothing more to ever say to me."
"Has she always had this crush on you? She's become more obsessive than anything."
"Not that I remember. Sage and I hung out amongst a group, it wasn't always just us together alone, we were always with four or more people. When she got here is when she got the way she did. I bet it's because she has those twins in her ear. She was a really chill person in Osaka." Sasuke said.
"I see.. what if she has things happening at home too?" Sakura asked. "I mean if you think about it, people like her who once were calm and easy to be around suddenly go through changes when things change around them you know. Look at how things changed me when my parents divorced.."
"I do remember she said her parents argued alot back in Osaka.. she always hung out late with the group when she didn't want to go home right away.. maybe her parents split." Sasuke said.
"She's probably looking for attention, which is understandable but she can't go around doing the things she's doing to me or others."
"You're still pressing the charges right?" Sasuke asked.
"Yes.. I don't pity her. I mean no one saw me attacking people when my parents divorced or when my Mother would literally abuse me. I don't wish any of that on her of course not the abuse, the eating disorder, the mental struggles but still I can't pity someone who's willing to do something so drastic to someone."
"Good." Sasuke said as Sakura snuggled up closer to him
"Sasuke.. would you tell me if I became a burden to you?" She asked as he looked down at her. "What do you mean?"
"I'm coming with alot of problems and.. considering you have things.. I don't want to continue to add to your plate, so would you tell me?" Sakura asked.
"You're not a burden, there would be no reason for me to tell you that. I don't like how negatively you've been thinking."
"I'm just trying to be considerate Sasuke."
"I get it, but don't make it seem like you're such a big problem for me. Like I said, if I felt I couldn't handle everything I would let you know." Sasuke said as Sakura nodded.
"Okay.." She said softly. "I'm going to go to sleep." She said.
"Sakura.. are you alright?"
"I'm fine.. I just want to sleep now.. Goodnight."
".... Okay then... Goodnight." He said as he turned from her turning his lamp off going to sleep.
Sakura felt like shit, she knew Sasuke wouldn't think of her in such a way, but she was growing very insecure with everything and it frightened her that Sasuke might one day leave her or drop her because of all the baggage she comes with. He doesn't deserve to shoulder her problems.
A tear slipped from her eye as she looked at his wall in the darkness, she couldn't sleep a wink, with her head pounding and her thoughts roaming.
"Hey you two, you want breakfast?" Itachi asked peeking inside of Sasuke's room, seeing the both of them sitting up in Sasuke's bed.
"That sounds nice." Sakura said yawning.
"Did you get enough sleep?" Itachi asked as she gave a closed eye smile. "Yeah." She said lying. Itachi knew this too, he didn't fail to see her puffy eyes.
His gaze went to Sasuke who tried to focus his eyes by rubbing them. He hoped everything was okay with them. "Alright then, see you two downstairs then. Sakura your Aunt said if you're feeling better you can go to school, your clothes are downstairs."
"Okay..I might go.. I'm still not sure."
"Have breakfast first then decide." Itachi smiled closing Sasuke's door.
"Goodmorning Sasuke." Sakura said.
"Hn, Morning." He said standing going towards his door.
"Sasuke.. I'm sorry about last night... I didn't mean to push you away, I apologize." She said.
"Don't worry about it. It's fine." He said. "Lets just get downstairs." He said scratching his head a bit as she nodded walking to the door with him.
"Omelette for you Sasuke and Waffles with a side of scrambled eggs for you Sakura." Itachi said.
"What about you?" Sakura asked.
"Don't worry, I'll have a coffee." Itachi said
While they were eating, Sakura suddenly spoke up. "I think I will go to school today." She said.
"Really? Are you sure you're feeling better?" Itachi asked.
A throbbing feeling went through her head right when he said that and she knew her concussion wasn't fully gone, but she figured she could manage. "Yeah, I think it's fine, I mean I'm not feverish anymore you know."
"Yeah but one wrong move and something could happen." Itachi said.
"I'll be fine!" Sakura said. "I'll be okay."
"Hn, then we should hurry if we want to make Hatake's class on time." Sasuke said letting out a small cough as he stood from the table.
"Right!" Sakura said getting, she went to grab her things and followed Sasuke to his room.
"Sasuke do you have a hairbrush by chance?" Sakura asked.
"There might be one on the drawer on the nightstand." He said.
"Oh I got it!" She said. "Could you help me brush my hair? It's still very tender when I do it." She said.
"Yeah, sit here." He said patting the bed.
Sakura took her seat and she handed Sasuke a hair tie and the brush. Gently he began to help her make a decent ponytail for the day. He had never done anyone's hair but he did vaguely remember seeing his mother do it and Sakura do it when they were younger.
"Let me know if that's too tight." Sasuke said.
"It feels alright." Sakura said as Sasuke nodded, once again he tried to hide a cough he had.
"You okay?" Sakura asked.
"Yeah, my throats a little dry." He said.
"I'll grab you a bottled juice on our way out." She said
"Thank you." He said as he reached and grabbed her wrist stopping her from walking out of his room.
"Whats the matter?"
"Are you sure..you're feeling okay for school?" He said pulling her to him.
"I'm fine Sasuke, I wouldn't go if I didn't feel okay." She said.
"Will you tell me if your head starts hurting?" Sasuke asked.
"Yes, I will." She said.
"Good." He said cupping her face, bending down kissing her softly. "Lets get going, Itachi is driving us today." He said.
Sakura smiled. "Okay."
"You two have a good day, something good will happen while you're both here, but do call if you don't feel good Sakura." Itachi said.
"I will! Thank you for the ride!" Sakura said.
She and Sasuke walked into the school together hand in hand. They changed their shoes and made their way to class.
"Well, I didn't expect to see you two so early, is everything okay? How's the head?" Kakashi asked.
"Better than before.." Sakura gave a sheepish smile.
"And you Sasuke? How are you feeling?" Kakashi asked looking at him.
"Im fine." Sasuke said, as he gave another small cough. "Throat is a bit scratchy." He said.
"I see, well let me know if either of you start to feel bad." Kakashi said as they nodded taking their seat.
When class started everything was seeming to be normal, that was until two police officers knocked at the door and walked in.
"Is there a Sage in this class?" One asked.
"Yes officer, what's the matter?"
"She's being placed under arrest for assault." They said. "Point her out please."
The entire class pointed a finger in the direction of Sage who's eyes nearly fell out of her head. "What? I didn't assault anyone!" She said.
"Yeah yeah, your parents are already on their way to the station save that for them, grab your things and come with us." The officer said.
As Sage walked out, she had a mean glare directed at Sakura who narrowed her eyes at her.
"Don't think you've gotten away with this." Sage said.
"Try me." Sakura said.
When lunch came to be, Sakura had went with Hinata and Temari, when she got back to class Sasuke wasn't there, his bag and his things were gone. She called his phone but there was no answer, she even texted but nothing was sent in return.
"Hey have you seen Sasuke?" She asked Naruto.
"Oh Teme, he left.. he wasn't really feeling good, he threw up in the boys bathroom and everything." Naruto said.
"What?"
"Yeah and his cheeks were really red, I think he was catching a fever, he already talked to Mr. Hatake during lunch, I believe he called his brother to come get him."
Sakura should've known, he kept trying to hold in his coughing, but she didn't know he would catch a whole fever. She needed to get to him.
She needed to be there for him, just as he's been there for her through everything.
Even if a fever seemed like a minor thing.
She could be there.
