Chapter 30 - A thing for pain

Ace had never gotten out of a car so fast. He hadn't even switched the engine off as he flung open his car door, and went racing towards her house.
The others quickly followed as Eyeball snapped his head to Jenny.
"Stay in the fucking car!" He snapped as he went to get out.
"Yes Sir." She grumbled quietly, leaning back in her car seat.
Eyeball paused as he got out the car, before shaking his head slightly. "Nah I'm good, didn't do it for me." He mumbled as he ran after Ace.
Jenny rolled her eyes as she watched them, but her eyes were drawn over to the back of Odette's house.
Jenny had the perfect view as she watched a male figure stumbling away, but it was the blonde curls of the figure lodged over his shoulder that alerted Jenny.
She knew those curls anywhere.
Odette.
Jumping out the car, she didn't bother with the other guys as she followed them down the side of Odette's house.
Jenny could see Odette was either asleep or unconscious, the latter being the more likely.
"Hey wait!" She shouted as she ran through to Odette's back yard.
Yet when it was Tommy that turned, carrying Odette over his shoulder she stopped. Tommy's eyes locked with hers.
"Jen?!" He exclaimed, still holding onto Odette's legs.
"Tommy?! What the fuck are you doing?!" Jenny couldn't seem to process this and the volume of her voice reflected this.
"I'm getting-" Tommy started but stopped as the back door of Odette's house opened and Ace and the others appeared.
"Sirs?" Tommy asked blankly.
But there were no words coming from Ace. Only the most murderous stare as his eyes were on his unconscious ex-girlfriend lodged over Tommy's shoulder.
"You wanna tell us what's going on?" Eyeball was the one that managed to get some words out as he took a step closer to Tommy, pointing at Odette.
"I'm-" Tommy paused as he looked at his teachers before back at Jenny. "Hang on-"
Tommy's eyes flicked back to the group of cobras. "Holy shit..."
"Fleet you better have-" Eyeball was getting impatient, they all were, they all wanted an explanation.
"Oh my god Jenny! You were right! He's fucking her!" Tommy blurted out as he pointed straight at Ace, as if all the pieces of the puzzles were fitting together now in his head.
Tommy couldn't help but laugh as he now realised he had the upper hand.
"You need to explain why she's over your-" Billy went to make a move but Tommy held his hand up.
"Don't you think you should be explaining first?" Tommy gave his best cocky smirk.
"There is-" Eyeball went to speak but was stopped by Ace holding his hand up.
Ace made a few small moves closer to Tommy, their eyes locked as Ace seemed to be looking at a younger version of himself.
"What's up Sir?" Tommy asked with a small laugh, looking Ace up and down.
He wasn't intimidated. He was the younger version of him. The hair, the attitude, the personality.
"You got some big balls ain't you Fleet?" Ace growled out.
Tommy shrugged as he lightly bounced Odette over his shoulder. "Got a pretty strong pair yeah."
Ace nodded slowly, a small smirk coming to his face. "See and I know that because I had the same at your age. Nothing could touch me and man, I was fucking King."
Tommy scoffed slightly as he briefly glanced at the other cobras and Jenny, who had now slowly moved closer to the group of teachers.
"You think you're all high and fucking mighty with your little crew at school?" Ace began to quietly taunt him. "We've all seen you, thinking you're all so tough, smoking round the back of the bike sheds, pissing about in lessons and don't think we don't notice the little blades you carry around."
Tommy's smirk fell as he kept one arm around Odette's legs and quickly reached into his pocket, with his other hand. Pulling out a small switchblade, he stepped back slightly as he flipped it open.
It was pointed at Ace.
But Ace wasn't scared or intimidated.
He laughed.
"Cute, really fucking cute." Ace laughed and nodded. "See I even had one of those things." He pointed down at the blade.
Tommy scoffed in disbelief as he shook his head slightly. "Yeah right."
"Oh I did, we all fucking did!" Ace turned slightly as he gestured back at the other guys.
"Yeah sure you did, sure you were all just one big scary gang." Tommy waved his blade around slightly, keeping a firm hold of Odette over his shoulder.
"Oh kid you got no idea..." Eyeball mumbled as the others all nodded in agreement.
"You seriously expect me to believe you were all a gang?" Tommy scoffed out, his eyes scanning them all.
Yet they never answered him with words. Instead, slowly but surely, one by one, they took off their suit jackets. Rolling up the sleeves of their shirts as Tommy saw the faint matching markings on their biceps.
"Just because you were part of some gang called the Cobras, don't mean shit." Tommy scoffed out, he'd heard some stories and the rumours. "I heard the only one worth being scared of was Ace."
Ace couldn't help but let his smirk grow. "Yeah me too, he was pretty scary." He nodded in agreement as he looked back at the other cobras.
"I'll be honest he still scares me." Charlie mumbled as he half stuck his hand up.
"I thought he was arrested?" Tommy questioned looking between them.
"He was." Ace said with a nod, looking back at the senior holding Odette over his shoulder. "But he sorted his life out, started over sorta thing. Though one thing didn't change."
"What one thing?" Tommy asked, still keeping a tight grip on his blade and Odette over his shoulder.
"He has a thing for pain..." Ace mumbled with a small nod. "Honestly, he's not sure if he should go see someone but he liked the idea of hurting someone with his blade."
"Yeah but it had to be confiscated when he was arrested." Tommy blurted out with a small nod.
Ace nodded firmly in agreement. "It was confiscated... so Ace upgraded."
"He-" Tommy paused confused as he looked around at the others. "What do you mean, he upgraded?"
"See as Ace grew up he realised a simple knife wasn't going to work for him anymore..." Ace started as he made a slow move closer to Tommy.
"He needed something more powerful, as he grew up and became more powerful himself." Ace finished.
Tommy scoffed slightly as he locked eyes with Ace. "You trying to say he got himself a gun?"
Ace shook his head. "He didn't just get the one gun for himself..."
Tommy looked up as Eyeball, Billy, Charlie, Jack, Vince and Fuzzy all slowly began coming closer to him.
All the teachers he'd had for years. Yet here they were different. There was something about the way they were right now that wasn't- that wasn't what he usually saw.
"He got guns for every single one of his boys." Ace spoke firmly as he reached up to take his jacket off.
"But they all know they don't need guns to hurt someone, there's nothing quite like the feeling of sending your fist straight into someone's face." Ace mumbled, not once taking his eyes off Tommy.
"Now who's the one that likes pain." Tommy scoffed, realising that was a similarity Mr Merrill shared with Ace.
"Ace is still the only one that likes pain don't worry." Ace gave Tommy a grin as the other cobras stood behind him.
Like a pack of well trained dogs. They all knew they were highly at risk of losing their jobs if this escalated but this was Ace, Ace was always in charge.
"Yeah but you-" Tommy paused. "I was meant to have the upper hand here! I know your secret!" Tommy took a few steps back.
"And with Jenny to-" Tommy paused as he looked around. "Where's Jenny?"
Ace and the others all looked around Odette's back yard but Jenny was nowhere to be seen.
