Keefe roused to a blonde head of hair falling on his shoulder.
Tilting his gaze, he identified his wife as the culprit. She'd been curled up beside him since the movie's opening scene but somewhere near the climax they'd both drifted off.
Careful not to wake her, Keefe reached for the remote dangling on the couch's edge. He managed to switch it off, but unfortunately, not at the conservation of Sophie's sleep.
Sleepily, she lifted her chin. "Keefe?"
"Shh." He wrapped her up in his arms and waited patiently for her to snuggle closer. "Go back to sleep, Foster."
"Where am I?" Big brown eyes struggled to stay open, her eyelids weighed down by exhaustion.
"With me," Keefe murmured, his lips meeting the crown of her head. "That's all you need to know."
Sophie must've agreed with him, because within seconds she'd fallen back into the safety of his arms. And Keefe couldn't help but wonder if the smile she wore meant she was dreaming of him.
