A new beginning

morning rain

you sleep peacefully
calm for right now
and i wait
your eyes flutter
you toss and turn
and i wait
briefly before the storm
it feels like it did before
but still
i wait
and then your eyes open
and you're calm for now
you get up
and you start searching
and i wait
tense
you've found it
and the rain starts to fall
and i wait
and as the morning continues
the rain picks up
and the wind too
and the lightning starts
the hail too
you're a tornado
you're cold apathy
and warm hate
spinning around and around
throwing things
yelling
it's expected
it's what i've been waiting for
every morning
exactly the same
it's cool morning air
and groggy pillow talk
until you find the thing
that will set you off today
and you spiral
and spiral
and i'm caught in the cross wind
and left to clean it up
