Today was Dad's Day and I was working on dinner with the kids waiting for my husband to come home from work. "Mommy can we finish icing these cookies for daddy?" I look at the time and nod "yes baby, I think daddy would love that very much." The giggle and I've the plant cookies I've made. I rub my belly and sigh being seven months pregnant, having a three year old and a five year old running around all day is a lot. Now I'm trying to make dinner and watch them so they won't cut themselves.
We were done by the time Neville came in "there's my kids!" I smile as they giggle and as they yell out daddy! I hear a sound come from him, no doubt he picked the kids up off the ground. "Where's momma huh? I believe she's in the kitchen where it smells absolutely delicious." He opens the door with a smile as the kids wiggle out of his hold. He eyes the mess, but ignores it walking over to me. He wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my cheek from behind. "There's my beautiful bride, my loving wife, and superwoman baby momma." I laugh at his childish fun. "Nev...I have something to tell you... it's important and I don't know how your gonna take it.."'he gives me a worried look "ok?" I smile "I missed you and I love you." He sighs in relief chucking at me " I love and missed you too my love." He kisses my lips and the kids say ewww! We laugh and look at our kids icing the cookies still. Neville walks over smiling at me then looking down at the cookies the children decorated for him.
I watch my husband as he interacts with the kids, picking up a cookie and icing it with them. I couldn't of had asked for a better dad for my kids. "Dinner is almost ready, why don't you two give daddy his gift?!" The jump off the stools and run out to go get it. "And what exactly did they get me?" I smile at him stirring the soup "you'll see!" The two boys come walking in with a round cement garden decoration and a picture frame. The picture frame has the kids handprints on it saying "best dad hands down" with their names at the bottom and the cement decoration had colorful rocks and the kids wrote we love you daddy with our handprints on it.
Neville looks at the gifts he got "I know it's not much daddy, but you can hang this in your office and you can put this in the garden by your plants!" The kids looked so happy to give him the gifts. Neville crouches down and brings them in for a hug "this is the best gifts I've ever gotten well besides you two." The giggle as he ruffles their hair. I take out the bowls and dip them in some vegetable beef soup. "Thank you boys this is the best Father's Day ever." I look up from setting the table meeting Neville's face "we have the best kids" he says as he wraps his arms around me. I kiss his lips "we really do, come on boys let's eat and then we can share the cookies and tell daddy what you learned today."
The boys jump down from the table and walk into the dining room. We all sit down and say grace and eat. When we were all done, the boys walked off to grab the cookies. "That was delicious as always beautiful." He kisses my cheek. I smile to him and kiss his lips, the boys came back in and sat the cookies down in front of Neville. The three ate the cookies while I started to clean. "Babe no, you know the drill." I smile "but it's dads day..." he shakes his head picking up the plate as the boys at the last cookie running off to play. "It could be my birthday and I wouldn't care. Besides you need to stay off your feet as much as possible the doctor said. We already had that scare, I don't want it to happen again."
He puts the dishes in the sink "okay how about we leave these here for now, and go in the living room and watch tv with the boys?" I take his hand guiding him out of the kitchen. "Mommy! Daddy! Look what we made!" They made a huge tower of legos. "Looks awesome boys! Keep up the good work!" I sit on the couch beside Neville watching the boys "I seriously wouldn't of had wanted to spend my Father's Day any other way than I am right now. I got my beautiful wife, my two boys, and unborn baby girl right here." I smile and kiss his lips "I love you Mr. Longbottom, Happy Dad's Day." He laughs and pulls me closer to him "I love you too Mrs. Longbottom and thank you for a great Dad's Day as you and the kids call it." I giggle as he kisses my head as we watch the boys.
