The party was finally over. Prince Carlton was happy enough to dance with me that night, Ashley was very nice to give him up for the evening. Maxon didn't make an appearance, and I couldn't be bothered to explain his absence. On the dance floor Carlton dropped his head to whisper to me, "Are you going to be ok?" I nodded. He wasn't convinced, "I know your going to be ok. Your a smart, kind, beautiful, caring woman. You are one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. And if Maxon doesn't understand, he can go to hell." Carlton really was the best. His words helped me. If Maxon didn't love me, I wasn't going to wait around for him to kick me out.
