Artemis:
Today is the day I go to Wally's grave. I've done this every first Saturday of every month since his death. It's been so hard but surprisingly, going to his grave helps me. It makes me feel at peace. 'Sigh' not that feeling at peace will bring him back or anything. Mom says I need to forget about it no matter how difficult it is. She says going to his grave only opens the wounds back up. Maybe I should stop. After all, it's been over three years.
"Hey Sis. Sleep well?" Jade smiles, handing Artemis a cup of coffee.
"Yeah, fine. Thanks. Anyone else up?" Artemis asks.
"Nope. Just you and me."
"Cool. It's been a while since we hung out alone."
"I agree. Hey, are you ok?" Jade asks, noticing Artemis's sad look.
"Huh? Oh, I don't know." Artemis sighs.
"Mouse? Is it Wally?" Jade continues while sitting down, putting her arm around Artemis.
Immediately Artemis breaks down sobbing, grabbing ahold of Jade, hugging her tightly.
"It's ok, Sis. Just let it out." Jade says, holding her tight.
"I can't do this anymore, Jade. I miss him. I want him back. I loved him so much. I still do."
"I know, Sis. I know."
While Jade is comforting Artemis, Will wakes up, walking towards the kitchen. Before he enters, he sees Jade and Artemis talking and decides to give them a couple minutes.
"Listen Sis. I know mom has been telling you to move on for a while. Everyone probably has. But you need to just take a second and breath. I remember when I thought you died. Even though we weren't very close at the time, it was hard to except. I didn't want too. So I decided to get revenge. I won't deny that it was wrong, but I understand why I wanted to do it. Maybe try really taking life a bit more seriously. Instead of constantly working, spend it with those you care about. Like for instance, Jason." Jade says.
"Jason?" Artemis replies tensely.
"Yeah. He cares about you. I could tell when I first met him. Give him more of a chance and you might find yourself happier. Maybe even more than before."
"Sigh. Maybe. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try." Artemis smiles.
A couple moments after talking, Will walks in as though he just woke up.
"Yaaaawwwwnn!! Morning." Will exclaims.
"Morning baby." Jade grins.
"Morning Will." Artemis says.
"So, how is my beautiful woman?"
"Good." Jade smirks.
"Common. Give me a kissy. Right here. On the lips." Will says, tapping at his lower lip.
"Alright. Fine. Mwah. Happy?" Jade smiles.
"Very. But I do expect more later."
"Will! Hush!" Jade loudly whispers causing Artemis to laugh.
"Ok. Ok. I'll quit." Will smirks.
"So Sis, do you work today?" Jade asks.
"No. It's Saturday."
"Right, but sometimes you work Saturday."
"Thankfully I don't."
"Great! I was hoping maybe we could go out or something if you wanted to."
"I'd love to Jade, but I have missions with Nightwing and Oracle today."
"Oh. I understand. Then maybe we could go out, honey." Jade says, smiling at Will.
"Sorry baby. I have missions too." Will replies.
"Oh. Then I guess it will just be me and Lian. That's good too."
"No, Lian has a play date with Amistad today.
"Who is Amistad?" Jade frowns.
"He is the son of Rocket." Artemis says.
"Well, I'll take her then." Jade grins.
"Don't worry, I'm going to drop her off on my way to Nightwing's place. She'll be fine in Rocket's care." Will says.
"Right, then I guess I'll find something to do around here." Jade frowns.
"Don't worry, baby. We'll be home before nine." Will says, gently stroking Jade's cheek.
Nine!" Jade blurts, standing up.
"Sigh, Jade. You know we have work to do. You will be fine." Will sternly replies.
"Oh! Thanks! Yeah! Go on! I'll be just fine on my own!" Jade yells before aggressively walking away while Artemis and Will look caught off guard.
"Sigh. You know Artemis, sometimes that woman is a lot of work." Will glares.
"Yeah, but no offense, Will. You're no better." Artemis giggles.
"Very funny."
After drinking his coffee, Will goes to his room, seeing Jade under their covers.
"Jade?" Will says, getting on their bed, trying to uncover her.
"Leave me alone. I'm sleeping." Jade grumbles.
"Common Jade. Don't pout. You're acting like our four year old daughter."
"No I'm not. Meanie."
"Meanie? Really?" Will smiles.
"You didn't even tell me about your missions or Lian's play date! You could have let me know!" Jade blurts, uncovering herself.
"Alright. I'm sorry. Forgive me?"
"No."
"Sigh. Ok. I need to shower." Will says, walking towards their bathroom before Jade throws a pillow at him.
"What the!" Will replies, turning around, seeing Jade's glare.
"Oh really? You want to play?" Will growls.
"Hardly. Fight? Yes. Very much." Jade continues glaring.
"I'm not gonna fight you, Jade. I may be irritated but I don't want to hurt you."
"Who said anything about hurting?" Jade smirks.
Immediately Will paces towards Jade, climbs on the bed and tackles her. However, before he knows it, Will finds Jade on top of him in a animal like manner.
"Good grief, Jade! You're good. I forgot how experienced you are." Will says, catching his breath.
"I would say the same, but..." Jade smiles.
"But what? I'm still experienced. Just because I don't go out as much doesn't mean..." Will passionately interrupts.
"I'm just kidding." Jade laughs.
"Oh, right." Will blushes.
"Now are you gonna kiss me anytime soon or am I gonna have to force it out of you?" Jade flirts.
"Baby, I have to get ready to go."
"Right. Nightwing would probably be really annoyed if you were late." Jade smirks mischievously.
"You are a bad girl, you know that." Will grins.
"Am I? Prove it." Jade says, leaning closer to Will.
"I intend to."
"Oh wait, you have to get to Nightwing. After all, he'll be so mad at you if you're late." Jade grins, starting to crawl away.
"Oh no you don't! Get back here!" Will says, grabbing ahold of Jade before showing her special attention.
Meanwhile, Artemis finishes getting ready before leaving for the cemetery. After ten minutes of driving, she pulls into the parking area and gets out of the car. After walking towards Wally's grave, Artemis kneels down and places flowers by his grave stone.
"Hi Wally. How are you? I miss you. It feels like forever since I've talked to you even though it's only been four weeks. I guess that's pretty long though. Sigh. My birthday was a few days ago. I feel so old. I'm only twenty-five, but you know how it is. I hope you are doing well. I need to tell you something. I've decided to stop coming. Mom has encouraged it for awhile but I just couldn't stop. But now I feel more and more weak each time I come. My body feels like it's always in pain. Always grieving. I'm sorry. I love you, Wally." Artemis says quietly as tears slowly fall from her face.
While Artemis begins to walk away, her phone starts ringing.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Artemis. This is Richard. Do you know where Will is?" Richard asks.
"Hey Dick. Umm...I think he's still at the house. Why?"
"I need to talk to him and ask if he can come earlier than planned."
"Oh. Let me get home and see, ok?"
"Thanks Artemis."
"No problem. See you soon."
"You bet. Bye."
"Bye." Artemis hangs up.
After getting home, Artemis calls for Will outside the bedroom door.
"Hey Will?"
"Mmmm..."
"Will!? You in there?"
"Uh...yeah! What is it Artemis?" Will replies.
"Nightwing wants to know if you could come in a little earlier."
"What? Why?"
"I'm not sure."
"Sigh! Fine. I'll give him a call. Thanks."
"No problem." Artemis replies before walking away.
Soon Will arrives at Nightwing's secret hub, walking into a room full of familiar faces. Specifically M'gann, Superboy, Zatanna, Oracle, and Kaldur.
"Red Arrow! You made it!" M'gann smiles.
"Uuuh...yeah. What's going on? I thought it was just Nightwing and I going out? By the way, where is he?" Red Arrow questions.
"Nightwing will be here soon. He said he needed to talk to all of us about something important." M'gann replies.
"Oh really? What about?" Red Arrow raises a brow.
"Not sure, my friend. But it must be important for him to gather all of us together." Kaldur says.
"Riiight." Will replies.
"Hey everyone! Glad you could all make it!" Nightwing says, walking into the room.
"What's wrong, Dick?" Zatanna questions.
"Yeah, babe?" Barbara asks.
"Well, this is kind of hard to explain, but a couple days ago, Batman and I were looking into space activity going on near the watchtower. You know, running sound waves to check for anything dangerous like an asteroid coming towards us. Anyways, when we released the waves, it caught some strange activity. A different kind of movement. Something with a heartbeat. Using Bat's computer technology, we discovered that someone or something alive is moving through time and space." Nightwing explains.
"What?" Zatanna says.
"Like who?" M'gann asks.
"I don't know." Nightwing responds.
"Why does it matter. Maybe someone was moving through space from another dimension or planet." Superboy replies.
"That's what I said, but Batman said that it's highly unlikely." Nightwing continues.
"Why?" Will crosses his arms.
"Because the sound waves processing through the computer showed the thing moving in enormous circles without end. Whoever is moving can't stop." Nightwing says.
"Ok wait. What are you implying?" Will asks.
"I know this is a bit out there, but what if the thing is Wally?" Nightwing grins.
"What?!!!!!" Everyone blurts.
"Are you crazy?!" Will yells.
"Yeah! Dick! That's absurd!" Barbara frowns.
"Agreed. Right M'gann?" Zatanna says.
"Well, maybe not." M'gann hesitantly smiles.
"What?!!!!!" Everyone blurts again.
"Babe? Are you insane?" Conner questions.
"Conner, I thought you were dead and you weren't. What if Nightwing's theory is correct? It wouldn't hurt to try and find out." M'gann responds, grabbing ahold of Conner's hand.
"No, you're wrong, M'gann. It will hurt if it's not Wally. It would kill Artemis. Despite what she says, she's still a wreck over losing him." Will says.
"We don't have to tell her." Nightwing replies.
"True." Barbara sighs.
"So are you all in?" Nightwing asks.
"I don't know what we can do, but sure. Count M'gann and I in." Conner smiles.
"Bab's? Z?" Nightwing grins.
"Ok. Let's do this." Barbara smirks.
"Sure, Dick. I'm in." Zatanna smiles.
"Will? Kaldur." Nightwing continues.
"As always, my friend." Kaldur replies.
"Sigh. Ok. But I'm not telling Artemis. Not now. And if it is Wally? What then? What could we do to help save him?" Will says.
"I don't know, but we have to try." Nightwing grins.
