Narrator
Y/n is the captain of the soccer team. They have been the captain for the last 2 years.
Recently the captain noticed someone kept attending their practices.
A classmate of their's named Mo Jihye.
- Dani POV -
I missed playing soccer.
When I was younger, I played in a club until I got injured in a car accident.
When I moved to Seoul and to a new school, I was really excited to learn that our school was in the top 3 national high school teams.
Everyday since I had transferred, I made it my goal to catch every game and practice. I wanted to see the team joyfully chasing after the ball, passing, and scoring goals.
The team captain seemed very nice. They never said anything about me attending the practices.... they'd just stare at me when I arrived and then kept on with their practice as if I wasn't there.
The captain was also in a few of my classes but we've never talked.
It was my dream to become a soccer player. Unfortunately, that dream was short lived... but the captain.... they seemed like everything I'd hope I'd be by now.
I found some comfort in attending practices and living my dreams through them. Thought, the captain didn't know that.
I was making my way to the parking lot after the soccer practice when The Captain came running after.
"Ms. Mo!!" They yelled catching my attention.
"Sorry, sorry. I don't meant to bother you but I did some research on you and you used to be a really good player in your old school. I was wondering if you wanted to join the team?" The Captain asked a bit out of breathe.
"I don't play anymore," I answered before turning to walk away.
"I saw your highlights from 2 years ago, you were amazing. With a little practice you'd be back on top!" The Captain yelled.
"Captain, I appreciate the offer but like I said.... I don't play anymore" I said coldy not even bothering to turn and look at them.
I then got in my car and drove off, seeing The Captain just staring their from my review mirror.
The next day, I felt a bit awkward for rejecting the captions offer so I skipped the practice.... however, I did decide the head to the field after practice.
I wanted to smell the freshly cleat cut grass.
I walked on to the field and took a deep breath, enjoying the fresh breeze hitting my face. Suddenly, I felt something hit my feet. I looked down to find a soccer ball.
"Hey! Mind kicking that back?!" I heard someone yell. I looked up to find the owner of the voice .... and it was The Captain.
"Come on! I know you can do it!" The Captain yelled again from across the field.
I sprung my foot back a bit then kicked the ball back in at my lowest strength, not waiting to hurt myself.
The ball didn't even reach halfway to its destination, forcing The Caption to job their way towards me and the ball.
"Oh come on! I know you can do better than that!" The Captain teased grabbing the ball then placing it at my feet.
"I can't," I whispered a bit a frustrated.
"Sure you can! Just kick it with all your might!" The Captain tried to encourage me.
"I CAN'T!" I yelled in frustration.
"Ms. Mo, I know you can! Fighting!" Th Captain kept trying to encourage me.
"Y/N, I SAID I CAN'T!!" I yelled forgetting my honorifics in frustration.
The Captain stared at me for a second and I broke down to my knees. I sobbed out of the heartbreak I felt from not being able to kick the ball.
The Captain then ran over and hugged me.
"I'm so sorry, Danielle. I didn't mean to push you" The Captain whispered as they held me tight.
I hugged back tighter knowing all I really wanted was to be comforted. After a bit of sniffling, I managed to get myself together.
"I rejected your offer.... not because I don't want to..... because I can't play," I whispered as I pulled away from The Captain's embrace.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know" The Captain sweetly replied wiping my tears away.
"Ummm.... 2 years ago.... I got into a car accident with my parents on my way to a game.... haven't been able to play since then....," I explained to The Captain.
"Do you want to get some coffee? I wanted to make it up to you," The Captain responded rubbing the side of my arm.
"Yeah, that'd be nice!" I exclaimed trying to stop my tears with a fake smile.
"Can... can I... can I... carry your ball for you?" I asked stuttering a bit.
"Yeah, you can keep it if you'd like!" The Captain responded with a cute smile.
"They're sweet, more than I expected" I thought to myself.
"Let me just put away the equipment and we can go!" The Captain said as they got up to finish up what they were doing before I even got here.
Me and The Captain walked over to the coffee stop around the corner of the school. We chatted for a while. I explained how I had a few surgeries on my leg and things had never been the same since.
"But you're okay since, right?" The Captain asked after my story.
"Yeah, I haven't had issues with my leg for almost two years. I still do physical therapy at times for it but my doctor says i don't need it. I just do it to be sure," I answered playing with my coffee cup.
"I'm glad to hear that. Maybe whenever you feel ready, we can pass the ball around a bit. Even if it's with our hands," The Captain sweetly offered.
I giggled and replied with the same humor, "As long as you don't through me out the game with a red card for too many hand balls!"
We both laughed for a bit then stared into each other's eyes for a bit. I felt the butterflies in my stomach start to go crazy.
"Mind if I take you home?" The Captain suddenly asked.
"I drove to school," I answered with a chuckle.
"Ohh well, how about I walk you to your car?" The Captain followed up being persistent.
"Yes, I'd love that!" I giggled out.
We both walked back to my car and I was surprise when The Captain kissed my cheek goodbye.
"Oh god, I already know I'm gonna fall for you!" I whispered to myself as I watch The Captain walk over to their car.
- Y/N POV -
As soon as I watched Ms. Mo's soccer highlights, it was like love at first goal. The way she was so agile, so gently with the ball yet such a strong kicker.
The next day, I gathered up the courage to ask her to join our team but I ultimately got rejected.
It wasn't long before I learnt why she had rejected me and I honestly did not expect it. She was super fit.... she seemed to work out a lot. Whenever she'd wear a crop top to school, you could just see her tone abs.
"Hey!" Ms. Mo waved from the bleachers during our game that week.
"Woah, she's so pretty!" I thought to myself as I waved back from the sidelines.
Ms. Mo cheered our team very loudly the entire game. The was really cute and funny when it came to yelling at the team on what to do from the bleachers.
After the game I was exhausted. Luckily, I was greeted with Ms. Mo's beautiful smile on the field.
"Hey," She greeted.
"Hey!" I replied dropping my body on the field as I felt my legs throbbing.
"You did great," She complimented as she sat the down on the grass next to me.
"Thank you, you're a good cheerleader!" I joke with her.
She cutely laughed giving me the response I was looking for.
"Hey, is the offer on the hand ball soccer still offer?" She asked as I sat up next to her.
"Yes, specifically right now since I can't move my legs!" I joked grabbing the ball next to me.
We passed the ball back and forth for a while trying to juke each other with our hands. We kept of laughing and being silly, until she took the ball from me and would give it back.
"Give it here!" I said trying to get the ball from her.
"Nooooo!!" She yelled getting up to run away.
Suddenly, she dropped the ball and I rushed at her to try to steal it. Dani then took the ball into her feet and kicked it over me.
"Woaahh!" I thought to myself being impressed by her skill.
"Hey! Give it here!" I kept on yelling and Ms. Mo took off running with the ball in her feet.
I rushed after her when she suddenly kicked the ball a quarter of the way pass the halfway point...m really hard actually.
The ball hit the end of the goal net and Danielle started screaming.... "GOOOAALLLLL!!!"
I ran at her to celebrate on instinct. I picked her up off her feet as she jumped and cheered.
Suddenly, Ms. Mo realized what had just happened and her smile started to fade.
I didn't want that to happen. I loved her smile and that was an awesome goal.
I abruptly cupped her face and kissed her. She quickly kissed back, giggling through the kiss.
"You know, if you were on the team.... we'd get to celebrate like this a lot?" I whispered against her lips.
"Oh really and why is that?" She joked playfully hitting my shoulder.
"Because, you'd be dating The Captain!" I joked pulling her hips closer.
"And I can't date The Captain without joining the team?" Ms. Mo raised her eyebrow at me.
"Well, would you like to be my girlfriend?" I asked in a joking way knowing I wasn't joking at all.
"Yes, I'd love that!" Dani answered back making me freeze.
"Wait...? Are you serious?!" I asked completely taken aback.
"Yes! I really like you," She responded then we both leaned in for a kiss.
Suddenly the field lights went off and it went completely dark. A whistle was blown then a yell followed, "No kissing on my field!"
"Yes, Coach-nim!!" We both yelled back then grabbed the ball and held hands on our way off the field.
