Narrator
Filming for "That's Life!" was now about halfway filmed. All the characters and their storylines were starting to develop.
In the show half of the cast had moved into a place together while the other half was still to still to move in.
Kang Tae-Oh was an HR Manager at his company, a company Minji's character had just become an intern at. Lee Ho-jung was a pretty rich girl who moved in to the house as a tantrum to piss off her parents. Nam Joo-Hyuk was a famous star who was being stalked and put into the house for his protection, He was very close to Lee Ho-jung's character.
Kim Min-gwi's character started to live in the house because he was kicked out of his mafia family for refusing to kill his best friend. No one knew anything about Y/n's character besides that they owned the house and was constantly busy with either school or work.
The remaining characters who didn't live in the house were Minji, a college student trying to make ends meet by getting an internship at Kang Tae-Oh's company. Choi Sooyoung is a gossip magazine photographer whom is on the verge of getting fire. Kang Haerin's character was just a college student trying to figure themselves out and their sexuality. Lastly, Choi Hyunjin was a high school student who lived all on his own due to his parents recently passing in an accident.
- Y/N POV -
It was yet another film day and I was actually excited to film this scene.
In this scene Me, Tae-Oh, Joo-Hyuk, Ho-jung, and Min-gwi would go out to play soccer as group to just forget about our worries.
Tae-Oh had was trying to get over his ex, Joo-Hyuk just wanted to out and have a normal life even for just one night, Ho-jung just wanted to know what is was like to go hangout with friends, Min-gwi played soccer as a stress relief, and I wanted to just have a fun night after worrying all week about this high school kid I met earlier in the week.
"Action!" The director yelled and we started passing the ball around. We filmed a very happy 10 minute soccer scene.
The scene continued with all of us huddling up around a park bench. We all teased each other and joked around when we suddenly heard yelling and someone running in our direction.
Sooyoung's character was running away from her landlord, of course non of our characters knew what was going on. Min-gwi got in front of the landlord guy to try to stop what was going on. Joo-Hyuk hid Sooyoung behind him.
We all watched as Min-gwi tried to scare off the landlord as he kept yelling the she need to pay this month's rent or get out. Eventually the old man got scared when he saw Min-gwi's mafia tattoo and left.
"Are you okay?" Joo-Hyuk asked Sooyoung.
"Yes, thank you! Sorry to bother you," Sooyoung responded.
The odd yet funny thing was that Sooyoung is Joo-Hyuk's stalker, though Joo-Hyuk didn't know that and Sooyoung couldn't recognize him sine he had a cap and mask on.
"So, you can't pay your rent?" Ho-jung asked Sooyoung.
"Works been a bit slow so things have a bit hard for me for the last few months," Sooyoung answered looking a bit ashamed.
"Do you have a plan or maybe a friend who can help you?" Joo-Hyuk asked.
"Ahhh, I'll manage on my own!" Sooyoung answered in an awkward tone.
"You know, if you're struggling. You can move in with us... just help out with what you can," I spoke up.
Everyone started nodding in agreement, while Joo-Hyuk said "Yeah we have extra rooms anyway. You could join us while you get back up on your feet!"
"That's very nice of you but I don't even know you," Sooyoung responded.
"That's it!" I exclaimed.
"Let's all go out drinking! What better way to get to know someone then over a few bottles of Soju and some nice pork cutlets!" I added get up from the bench.
"Yeesss!!" Min-gwi exclaimed.
"Yay! Fatty foods!" Ho-jung said all excited.
"What do you say?" Joo-Hyuk asked.
"Well, I am hungry" Sooyoung whispered to herself.
"It's settled, let's all go eat!" Tae-Oh said clapping and getting up off the bench top.
"Okay!" Sooyoung said and we all went on our way.
- Minji POV -
Today we had late filming.
My character had just gotten their first paycheck from my internship, So me and Haerin would go out to celebrate.
We would also get to film our first whole group scene.
"Action!" The director yelled and I ran out the company building happy to met Haerin outside the building.
"Where should we go?" I asked Haerin grabbing her hand as we walked along the sidewalk.
It made my heart flutter everytime me and Haerin held hands.
"I saw a barbecue restaurant on my way here. Why don't we go there?" I asked as Haerin still kept thinking about my previous question.
"Yeah!" Haerin answered and we went on our way.
As we reached the restaurant, we stumbled on to a big group of people.
"Sunbae!" Haerin yelled. She then pulled me towards the group and stopped right in front of a familar face.
"Hyewon-ssi!" Y/n sunbaenim exclaimed on their cue.
"What are you doing here?" Haerin asked.
"I'm here to eat with my friends. What are you doing here?" Sunbae asked while their friends bowed at us.
"I'm here to eat with Soojung," Haerin answered with her line.
At this point we had both heard of each other but mine and sunbae's characters hadn't met yet.
"Ohh nice, to finally meet you Soojung-ssi. I've heard a lot about you,"Sunbaenim said extending their hand to shake.
We both bowed and shook hands when I suddenly heard my name.
"Soojung-ssi!" Tae-Oh sunbae said his line with a wide smile.
My character had started to develop a crush on Tae-Oh sunbae's character.
"Oh manager-nim!" I exclaimed.
"Are we going in? I'm so hungry!" Ho-jung unnie said on her cue.
"Hey, why don't you join us? We can all just eat together since we're all here," Tae-Oh sunbae said and we all agreed.
I sat next Tae-Oh sunbae while Haerin sat next to Y/n sunbaenim.
In this scene we'd all be meeting Chris Lyon's character. A foreigner who moved here to study and works at the same restaurant we're all eating.
I was so distracted by watching Y/n sunbae and Haerin being all flirty that I couldn't deliver my lines correctly. We had to retake the scene 8 times before the director yelled, "Cut! Take a 5 minute break!"
I sighed in frustration during out our quick break, saying my lines over and over to myself.
"Minji-ssi!" Y/n sunbaenim caught my attention.
"Sunbae?" I responded.
"You seem a bit stressed, is everything okay?" She asked.
"Yes, just a bit nervous" I sort of lied.
"If it makes you feel better. When I first started, I had a scene that took me 87 tries. I had to re-shoot the scene so much that they almost considered cutting the scene out completely," Sunbaenim share with a soft laugh.
I laughed at their comforting story, thinking to myself "I can see why everyone likes working with her."
"Eego, a kiss for goodluck!" Unnie said kissing my cheek then patting the side of my arm.
My heart fluttered at her gesture.
"I can see why Haerin likes working with you so much," I thought to myself as we all returned to our spots.
"And Action!" The director yelled again.
This time I was able to give my lines correct, so the scene continued.
"Ohhh, you're still here!" Tae-Oh sunbae asked Chris' character.
"Yes, I stayed to continue on to graduate school!" Lyon sunbae responded with his line.
Tae-Oh sunbae explained how they had met in college and haven't seen each other since graduation.
"What time are you off? Maybe we should catch up!" Tae-Oh sunbae told Chris.
"I'm off in 5 minutes," He responded.
Haerin's character continued to stare at Y/n sunbae, wondering how it is she felt about her senior.
I did my best not to look in their direction since we'd have to retake the scene if I did so.
"You should join us when you're off. I'd love to get to know more about sunbaenim's past!" Y/n sunbaenim delivered her line.
Lyon agreed and joined us in the next scene.
We all ate and "drank". Our characters were getting to know each other and learning that they were all roommates.
"I should've lived off campus with roommates too. It would have been cheaper," I thought to myself.
- Haerin POV -
During our little break, I caught sight of something that completely shattered my hopes with Y/n unnie.
I saw them kissing Minji unnie's cheek.
Sunbae was always very friendly and sweet, but her and Minji unnie barely interacted up to this point. So, watching sunbae kiss unnie like that told me all I needed to know.
When we returned to filming, I almost forgot to say my line until Y/n unnie squeezed my thigh under the table.
Her touch made my heart skipped a beat.
Lyon sunbaenim soon joined us at the table to film our group scene. He's character was to join the house later in the season.
We all finished up drinking and eating, ending with all of us being drunk.
We all walked down in a group when it suddenly started raining and we all ran for cover.
Sunbaenim took off her jacket and held it above my head making my character have their first solid moment where they knew they had feelings for their sunbae.
"Yah! Yah!" Y/n sunbaenim yelled on her cue then ran into the rain to talk to a student still out and in their uniform.
"Cut! Perfect!" The director yelled and everyone retreated to their trailers or behind the cameras with the crew, except for Y/n unnie.
We all watched as Y/n unnie shot her scene with Hyunjin-ssi.
"Action!" The assistant director yelled this time and filming started.
"What are you doing out?!" Unnie yelled at Hyunjin-ssi.
"Working!" His character yelled back over the loud rain, seemly not even bothering to look at unnie as he stacked boxes in the rain.
"How can someone your age be allowed to work at this hour?" Unnie asked in a worried tone.
We all monitored the scene from behind the cameras, watching in amazement at how natural they both looked acting.
"Sunbae is really good," Minji unnie whispered in my ear. I turned to look at her and she had this cute smile on her face.
"Ye, sunbaenim is my favorite for a reason" I whispered back.
The director gave us a look and we went back to being silent.
"I'm 19 years old. I will be going to college soon so I need to work!" Hyunjin-ssi responded on his cue.
"You must be tired and hungry!" Unnie responded trying to wipe the rain off her face.
Hyunjin-ssi faced unnie and gave her a look of disbelief.
"Woahh, he's so good at a such a young age!" Tae-Oh sunbae praised him.
We all watched in amazement as their scene ended.
"Everyone back in your spots!" The director yelled and we all returned to our previous spots to film the last part of today's day.
Y/n sunbaenim had offered to make Hyunjin-ssi some ramen while Tae-Oh sunbae offered Minji unnie to stay over at their house since it was raining too hard.
We all returned to their house. Me and Minji unnie looked around in amazement at their home.
Tae-Oh sunbae and Y/n unnie gave us a tour of their 2 story, 6 bedroom, and 4 bathroom home.
We all quickly learned about Hyunjin-ssi being left an orphan due to his parents dying in a car accident.
He lived all by himself, working and using the money to stay at cheap hotels or strangers houses.
Sunbae offered him one of the rooms in their house. It would be his own with no one to share or bother him.
The group also showed Sooyoung sunbae where she'd be staying, leaving only one room in the house left which was meant for later in the show when me and Minji unnie would join the house.
"The rain is starting to slow down. We should get going," Minji unnie said on her cue.
"How can you leave now. It's 3 in the morning! Stay, stay, there's a spare bedroom! You two can stay the night there!" Tae-Oh sunbaenim said acting drunk.
Of course, Minji unnie's character had a crush on Tae-Oh sunbae's so she didn't refuse.
The group showed us the room that would eventually become ours and we all headed to sleep, wrapping up filming for the day.
"Cut!" The director yelled.
"That's was amazing! You all have great chemistry together!" the director praised us.
We all headed back to the hotel with Y/n sunbaenim riding back with me and Minji unnie.
"Minji-ssi, you did amazing today! You both did!" Sunbae praised not forgetting about me.
"Sunbae how did you feel filming today?" I asked trying to get their attention from the front passenger seat.
"It was fun. I really like filming with the both of you!" Unnie exclaimed.
"I really like filming with you too," I responded while blushing.
Suddenly, Minji unnie grabbed my hand and held it.... catching me a bit off guard.
"You two seem really close," Unnie said turning around then staring at our hands a bit.
I pulled my hand away from unnie and awkwardly laughed, not trying to give her the wrong impression.
"Unnie, have you ever fell for someone while filming? I heard it's very common for actors to fall in love with people they film with," Minji unnie suddenly asked.
"Ummm... that's a sudden question," Unnie responded.
"But yes, I have" Unnie answered her.
I thought that question was weird. Maybe Minji unnie liked someone on set.... maybe she liked Y/n unnie as well.
"Minji-ssi, do you like someone on set? You do don't you!" Y/n sunbaenim began to tease her. She winked at me making me laugh.
"Aahhh, you do. Don't you!" Unnie kept teasing.
"Do you like someone on set?" I began to tease sunbaenim.
Sunbae stared at me seriously then began to laugh turning around to face the road.
"What's so funny?" I thought to myself.
