Narrator
Kang Haerin has been in love with Y/n, one of the youngest CEOs in South Korea, for 5 years now. They've spent 5 wonderful years together but lately things feel off.
Y/n has been busy with business trips very often lately. Never checking in or calling anymore.
Haerin has been crying herself to sleep at least once a week, wondering if y/n has just gotten bored of her or is maybe cheating on her.
Tonight, Haerin picked up the phone and decided to call y/n.
"Yeoboseyo?" Y/n answered the phone.
"Hey, it's me. I miss you," Haerin said with a shaky voice.
"Hey, baby. I miss you too but listen I'm a bit busy right now. I'll call you later," Y/n responded and hung up the phone without letting Haerin say another word.
Haerin felt her heart break again for like the 5 time that month.
Her eyes started to get watery. She begged herself not to cry again but she couldn't help it. Tears started rolling down her cheek and before any of her team members could see, she went to go hide in the bathroom.
She spent 15 minutes trying to control her tears.
"This is my fault," She kept telling herself.
Haerin kept thinking about how maybe things got too boring for y/n. That maybe being old fashion and waiting to do anything until marriage was the reason y/n is avoiding her.
"Dammit!" Haerin crying under breath, finally getting herself together.
She walked out of the bathroom and accidentally bumped into Minji.
"Hey, are you okay?" Minji asked her, noticing her face was flushed with fluffy eyes and a rosy nose.
"Yes, unnie. Just feeling a little sick," Haerin lied and quickly made her way to her room.
Haerin snuggled into her bed and she broke down again.
Being asked is she was okay... it was too much.
While Haerin spent her night silently crying yet again, Y/n was at her childhood home bowing down to her parents for Haerin's hand in marriage.
- Y/N POV -
"Please, I love your daughter. I love her so much that I'd do anything for her. I'd do anything for you too. I want to be part of your family and you a part of mine. Please let me marry Kang Haerin-ssi," I said while bowing down on my knees to Haerin's parents.
"Stand up," Haerin's father said coldly.
"Yes, sir" I answered him and did as I was told.
Haerin's mother then grabbed my hand and said, "We could not think of anyone more worthy to marry our daughter."
"You've been wonderful for all the 5 years you have been together. You've always respected her decisions and never complained," She added.
"You both decided to wait till marriage to move in together and to.... well do other things," Haerin's father said chuckling a bit.
"She told them that?!" I asked myself feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I think 5 years has been long enough. It's time to get married bud," Her dad said patting my back.
I let out a sigh of relief and excitedly hugged them, thanking them over and over again.
"Here's the engagement proposal invitation. I expect you there and If you need anything please don't hesitate to call me!" I told them handing them an envelope.
I said my goodbyes and on my way out I was so excited that my heart was about to beat out of my chest.
Suddenly, my phone started to ring.
It was Minji.
"Yeoboseyo?" I answered.
"Hurry up and ask her parents already. I'm pretty sure Haerin was just crying in the bathroom," Minji coldly said on the other line.
"I just did. They said yes!" I squealed.
"So, make sure you and the girls are ready for this weekend. If Haerin finds out, I'll kill you" I told her.
I had been preparing for my engagement proposal for a month now. I had even been practicing saying, "Will you marry me?", every morning in the mirror.
It killed me to be so distant and secretive towards Haerin but i knew it would all be worth it.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't worry she doesn't know a thing. I'll tell the girls to pack their bags," Minji answered.
"Thank you so much!" I told her and hung up.
- Haerin POV -
I had been crying for over an hour now, wondering if y/n was even going to call back.
Suddenly my phone rang and I quickly picked it up, looking more desperate than ever before.
"Yeoboseyo?" I answered.
"Hey, you're on vacation right? Like you girls don't have any schedules for next month right?" Y/n asked on the other line.
"Yes, why?" I answered.
"Let's go on vacation? Just the two of us... I know I've been a bit distant lately because I was really busy with a project but I'd love to make it up to you and spend some quality time together," Y/n said making my heart flutter.
"Okay," I hesitantly said with a huge smile on my face.
"Perfect! Pack your bags we're leaving this weekend!" Y/n said then hung up.
I didn't even bother to ask where we were going, I was too excited.
I got up to pack my bags and couldn't wait for the week to be over.
Before I knew it, it was the weekend and Y/n was at our front door.
"Hey, beautiful!" Y/n-ah said when I opened the door.
"Hi!" I answered feeling myself blushing.
"You ready?" Y/n asked.
"Yes!" I squealed and y/n grabbed my bags.
"I'll see you ladies later!" Y/n-ah told the girls with a wink as I waved them goodbye.
Y/n-ah's driver then drove us to the airport and we boarded our jet. Y/n kept refusing to tell me where we were going.
It wasn't until we arrived at the airport that I realized where we were. I knew this airport all too well.
We were in Paris.
"Surprise!" Y/n excitedly said as we boarded off the jet.
"It's not a surprise if we've been here before," I teased.
"Yeah, keep acting as if Paris isn't one of your favorite places!" Y/n teased back playfully rolling their eyes.
"I still prefer Cali," I responded as Y/n-ah intertwined our fingers walking over to get our bags checked.
Eventually, we made our way to our usual hotel and our usual room.
We hadn't been on vacation for about a year now.... so I was super excited to have quality time together.
"Don't be mad.... but I do have just one meeting while we're here," Y/n said as we settled into our hotel room.
I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
"You're really working while we're here on vacation?" I asked in a monotone voice.
"Yes, but I promise. 20 minutes top after that we'll got to our favorite restaurant!" Y/n-ah exclaimed walking over to hold my waist.
My heart fluttered at their touch. It had been a long time since y/n-ah held me like this...m the action made me melt so I easily gave in.
"Okay, fine. But promise it's just this one meeting?" I said pouting to get Y/n-ah to surrender to me.
"Haerin-ei, I promise. It just this one meeting!" Y/n-ah said crossing their heart.
We both eventually went to sleep from the jetlag and woke up the next morning.
Y/n-ah was in a rush getting ready to leave for their meeting.
"Baby, I'll meet you over for bunch at the restaurant? Wear something cute, I like the way the Paris skylight hits your skin!" Y/n said as they made their way out the room.
I groaned as a response and started to get up to get ready.
30 minutes had passed and I grabbed my umbrella to make my way over to the restaurant.
Suddenly, I got a phone call.
"Yeoboseyo?" I answered.
"Froggie, I'm running a bit late. Meet you at the restaurant?" Y/n-ah said and quickly hung up without saying anything more.
I sighed a bit frustrated but figured Y/n-ah was just trying to get things done to give me their full attention.
Wgen I arrived to the restaurant, I checked in with the front staff and they let me in. It was odd they usually lead you to your table but this time they didn't. On top of that, the restaurant was empty..... completely empty. Just me.
I heard a violin playing off the terrace. I headed over to see who was playing but was distracted by the sudden crowd of people flooding the restaurant from out of nowhere.
"Mom? Dad? Unnie?" I said to myself as I saw my members and my parents walk into the restaurant.
I was beyond confused as to what was going on when I started to notice a lot of other people I know and Y/n's parents too.
"Hey, are you ready to cry for a different reason?" Minji unnie asked when she approached me.
I tilted my head at her in confusing then she turned me over and pushed me towards the terrace.
I turned back to look at her in pure confusion, when I saw my mother signaling me to keep walking out.
I headed over to the outside terrace when my heart sank to my stomach. I felt my throat start to tie up with my tears starting to swell up my eyes.
Y/n-ah stood there smiling at me. I could see the Eiffel Tower and the Paris skyline with white rose petals scattered all over the terrace. I could finally see who was playing the violin and a neon sign the told me all I needed to know.
Y/n started to kneel down and my tears just started falling.
"No, no, don't cry! Don't cry!" I pleaded with myself.
"You've spent too much time crying!" I kept trying to convince myself as I saw Y/n pulled out a ring box from their pocket.
"Kang Haerin," Y/n-ah began to speak.
"We've spent the last 5 years together and they have been the happiest years of my life. I know at times you and I have a hard time seeing eye to eye, but I wouldn't want to argue with anyone else but you. I can't wait to spend the rest of my years with you. Learning, laughing, arguing, crying, just living life with you.... Please tell me you'd love to do the same with me too..... Haerin, please.... will you marry me?" Y/n asked speaking with a shaky voice.
This was the most nervous I had ever heard Y/n-ah be.... it was so adorable.
My tears were making me choke up I couldn't even open my moth, so I just shook my head.
"Yes?" Y/n asked sounding unsure.
"Ye! Yesss!" I exclaimed finally getting the words out my mouth.
I could hear my parents and my members cheering with the crowd behind us as Y/n slid the ring onto my ring finger.
I was so excited, I wrapped my arms around Y/n-ah's neck and kissed them in front of everyone.
"I love you!" Y/n exclaimsled against my lips as they kissed back.
"I love you too!" I whispered back getting all shy and giggly.
