(Exter POV)
It's been a month since I've been in ReaperTale and everything is going okay!- well as long as you ignore the rumors that were now going around of course. Anyways- aside from certain rumors going around, I finally figured out how to make a portal to other au's! The only problem though is that the portals I make right now are well...small. You would literally have to crawl through on your stomach just to go through the portal. Yeah, so you can say I'm not really good as I want to be at opening portals but hey at least I'm getting somewhere!
I'm sure I'll figure out how to make bigger portals soon enough with reaper's help! That is if he keeps deciding to help. For some reason I feel like he's stalling for more time, at least that's what I assume since he keeps suddenly distracting me from learning how to create portals and instead choosing to make pun jokes, weird pick up lines, and dragging me away to watch the butterflies in Life's garden. Really, I wonder what's gotten into him?
'Well whatever I can figure it out later!' Is what I thought as I stared at a number on my phone that I've been meaning to call. Pressing the call button, I stand on the grass in Life's garden as I wait for the person on the other side to pick up. For a few moments all you can hear is the ringing sound of my phone as it tried to get ahold of the person on the other line until finally someone picked up and the ringing stopped.
"Hello?" A tired voice answered from the other side of the call. "Error? Is that you?" I asked while watching my butterfly fly past. "Who else do you think it would be bird boy?" Error said from the other line of the call. "I'm not a bird!" I exclaimed before looking around with a sigh. "How come you never came back? Did you really not wanna see me that much?" I asked while staring aimlessly. "Yes." Error said blatantly which instead made me smile slightly instead of feeling hurt.
"Ouch, you hurt my feelings!" I said with a small smile on my face. "Good, that was what I was aiming for." Error said while sounding slightly amused. "Hey, so are you really not gonna visit me at least once?" I asked with a curious head tilt. "Yup." Error said while doing who knows what on the other line. "Oh... Well that's fine! I'll just visit you lots of times when I learn how to make bigger portals!" I said with a grin. "You better not, I already deal with an annoying parasite everyday as it is, I don't need another nuisance to deal with." Error said before muttering something under his breath on the other side of the call. "Alright fine, I'll only bother you when I feel like it then." I said with a smile.
"How about you don't visit at all?- wait, you don't even know where I live so hah!" Error said with a smug tone. "Oh? Just wait. I'll find you very soon error. Very Soon." I said with a grin. "Now you just sound creepy." Error said from the other line. "I did?! Yes! That's exactly what I was going for!" I said with a bright smile. "Should I be concerned?" Error asked from the other line with amusement but also with a slight hint of worry. "Nope." I said while relaxing my smile into a small grin.
"Alright. Well wanna explain why you wanted to test out being creepy?" Error asked from the other line. "Just for the heck of it." I said while watching as other butterfly's flew past. "Uh huh. Well I think I prefer your normal voice and not the creepy voice." Error said while letting out a sigh. "Fine. You party pooper." I said while letting out a humph. "Hey! I'm not a party pooper!" Error exclaimed from the other side of the phone. "Sure, whatever you say you Glitching Window Vista." I said before backing my skull away from my phone which was a good thing I did since the next moment error was yelling curses at me from the other line.
Hearing error cursing at me I couldn't help but laugh before pulling my phone closer to me again once error calmed down. "Call me that name again and I will end you." Error said with a slightly murderous tone behind his voice. "To be fair error you started this first by calling me bird boy." I said while noticing that all the butterfly's flew to another part of the garden to get away from the angry yelling coming from error before.
"...as much as I hate to admit this, that's true." Error said with an annoyed sigh. "*Gasp* you're actually admitting that I'm right?" I said with fake surprise. "Oh shut up!" Error said from the other line. "Alright, I'll stop getting on your nerves." I said with a chuckle. "Good." Error said before going silent for a moment. "So... I heard some interesting rumors going around." Error started with a teasing tone. Internally cursing at myself, I stay silent while error continues. "So you wanna tell my how you and the literal grim reaper fell in love? Not to mention so quickly?" Error said with a slightly curious tone. "We are not in love and we are not a couple!" I said with a flustered blush covering my face. "You sure about that?" Error said and even though I couldn't see him I was pretty sure there was a grin on his face.
"Yes I'm sure! Do you really need me to explain the misunderstanding that ended up with Life thinking me and reaper were a couple?" I said while my wings retracted closer behind me. "Actually yes. I'm really interested to hear how these rumors started." Error said from the other line with an intrigued tone. "Alright, well this is how it started..." I said while sitting down since I felt like I was gonna be explaining for awhile.
(An hour of explaining later since error kept disrupting with side comments-)
(Exter POV)
"Stop laughing error this isn't funny!" I yelled while blushing red in embarrassment. "I-i can't." Error said while laughing on the other line about my misfortune. "I hate you." I said while fully retracting my wings into my back. "Sure you do." Error said while calming himself down from having another laughing fit. "Anyways-" before I can continue talking I was surprised by my phone zooming out of my hand with blue magic leading to my right.
Turning to my right I immediately take notice of reaper staring at the name of the person I'm talking to before doing something I didn't expect him to do. He hung up my call with error! Immediately bolting up from my sitting position on the grass, I go up to reaper with a confused and slightly annoyed look. "Reaper." I said while putting my hand out. "Hand over my phone." I said while waiting for him to give it. "ʜᴏᴡ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ɴᴏ?" Reaper said while raising the phone above his head. "Really?" I say while having an unimpressed look. "Yᴇᴘ." Reaper said with a grin on his face.
"...." Not saying anything for a few moments I just stare at the phone while deciding if I should try grabbing it or not before a sudden realization hit me. "Wait a minute- reaper?" I said while turning my attention back to reaper. "Yᴇᴀʜ?" Reaper asked with a grin still on his face. "Why did you even take my phone in the first place? And why did you hang up on error? I know you saw it said his name so explain." I said while crossing my arms at him. "I- ᴜʜ, ɢᴏᴛ ʙᴏʀᴇᴅ?" Reaper said while looking away.
"You got bored?" I said while looking ready to whack him on the skull. "ʏᴜᴘ." Reaper said while nodding, still not meeting my eyelights. "... y'know you've been acting strange all month, wanna explain why?" I said while narrowing my eye sockets at reaper. "ɪ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɴᴏ ɪᴅᴇᴀ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ᴛᴀʟᴋɪɴɢ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ." Reaper said while staring to the side seemingly watching the butterflies in the garden. "You really gonna play dumb?" I said before moving my hands into my jacket's pockets. "..." Not answering, reaper continued to stare at the butterflies passing by. "Well whatever, just hand over the phone reaper." I said before moving to grab my phone only for reaper to raise the phone over his head again while staring at me with a grin back on his face.
"Nᴏ ᴄᴀɴ ᴅᴏ." Reaper said while his attention was focused on me again. "Oh come on! Now you respond?!" I said before lunging for my phone only for reaper to move it a little higher. "Reaper! Stop moving damnit!" I said while trying to reach for my phone again. "Mᴀᴋᴇ ᴍᴇ." Reaper said while having an amused grin on his face from seeing me struggle to reach my phone.
"Y'know what? Fine, I'll make you!" I said before suddenly pouncing on a now surprised reaper and pinning him on the floor while snatching my phone from his hand. Having a victory grin on my face, I forget that reaper's under me for a moment until reaper speaks from underneath me. "As ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴀs I ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴠɪᴇᴡ ғʀᴏᴍ ᴅᴏᴡɴ ʜᴇʀᴇ, I ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴀᴘᴘʀᴇᴄɪᴀᴛᴇ ɪᴛ ɪғ ʏᴏᴜ ʟᴇᴛ ᴍᴇ ɢᴇᴛ ᴜᴘ." Reaper said while staring up at me. "Nah, this is revenge for taking my phone." I said while still sitting on top of reaper. "..." Staying silent, reaper turns his skull to the side to stare at the cobblestone pathway that lead to Life's cottage.
While reaper stared at the cobblestone pathway, I went back on my phone and texted error to tell him sorry for the sudden hang up and that it was reaper's doing. After that I turned my phone off and was getting up to get off reaper when I heard Life's voice suddenly ring in the air. "Oh my, look at you two lovebirds! I can't wait to become a grandmother!" Life exclaimed while staring at me and reaper who also seemed to freeze at what life just said.
Turning to life, I can feel my face flushing at what she just said but before her words could affect me anymore I internally scolded myself for getting flustered at her choice of words. I mean its not like life actually means any of that, she's just joking!
Letting out a calming breath, my emotions calm down and the red blush on my face disappears. Once I calmed down, I quickly got off reaper who was still distracted by what life said and instantly zoomed past life while telling her I would be at her cottage. While I left, I didn't see Life's face turn serious while staring at reaper who was now in a sitting position on the grass.
"Reaper? I believe we need to talk." Life said with a serious expression on her face. "Tʜᴇʀᴇ's ɴᴏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴋ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ." Reaper said while staring down at the grass below him. "Reaper, we both know he's gonna be leaving soon and I know you don't exactly like that but I'm sure he'll always visit once in a while." Life said while watching as reaper grabbed a piece of dead grass below him while twirling it around in his hand. "Hᴏᴡ ᴄᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜ ʙᴇ sᴏ sᴜʀᴇ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛʜᴀᴛ, Lɪғᴇ?" Reaper asked while staring at the dead grass he was twirling in his hand.
"Exter is a kind soul, I'm positive he'll visit us whenever he has the time, especially if it's to meet you again reaper." Life said while still standing. "I sᴜʀᴇ ʜᴏᴘᴇ ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ʀɪɢʜᴛ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ sᴀʏɪɴɢ ʟɪғᴇ." Reaper said while slightly smiling as he watched as his and Exter's butterfly flew past together. "I know so." Life said before excusing herself to go find exter and speak to him.
All the while, no one noticed a certain artistic skeleton enter into reapertale searching for a certain someone...
