Aranza says that the whole event will be a sham and one big PR exercise. She says she would rather spend the day with people who love her. She adds that she has for the longest time known that to her mother, she is nothing more than a pawn born to gain control of her father's vast fortune. Unable to control herself any longer, she lets the tears flow. Aurelio wraps his arms around her.
Later that night, Adrianna knocks on Antonio's door. She asks him if he is going to her aunt's birthday. Antonio says that after what Helena did to Aranza he lost all respect for her. He adds that he will not go to the party to keep up appearances either. Adrianna says she is not sure; Aranza would willingly want to go. Antonio agrees with her. Just then someone knocks on their door. Adrianna goes to open it, and it's Aranza. She looks from Antonio to Adrianna, pouts, and says that she is not a baby and doesn't like it when they hide things from her and treat her like a baby.
Adrianna assures her they were not hiding anything from her and adds that they were talking about her mother's birthday. Aranza says that if they (Antonio and Adrianna) want to go, she won't stop them. She adds that she would not go. Antonio comes and hugs her and says that he and Adrianna will stick by her and will always be there for her. Aranza's tears start to fall and Adrianna joins them in the group hug.
The next morning (Thursday),
Aranza is preparing for that day's classes when her mother knocks and comes into the room. Aranza folds her hands and glares at her. Helena reminds her that on Saturday, it is her birthday and that she (Aranza) has to be there. Aranza looks at her mother like she was a piece of trash in the street. She then glares at her.
However, to both their surprise, Aranza says she will attend the event. Helena is shocked because she expected her daughter to put up a fight. Aranza, however, is not done. She adds that she knows her duties and responsibilities, and it's only one day to bear. She then tells her mother that if there is nothing else, she can leave.
Meanwhile, Antonio knocks on Adrianna's door. She lets him in. He asks her if she is okay. She says that apart from a bit of morning sickness, she is quite fine. He asks her if she is still not going to Helena's birthday on Saturday. Adrianna shrugs and says that she doesn't really feel like going but she would force herself to go if Aranza changes her mind, to give her support. She asks him about himself. Antonio says he had never planned on going because, he has no respect for Helena, after what she did to Aranza, but he sees her point about them giving Aranza moral support.
Later, once he is in his office, Juan Patricio calls the private investigator to find out, what he has been able to find out so far. The private investigator tells him, that he will send him the preliminary report so far. Juan Patricio says he would like the information via email. The private investigator, says he will send the information the next day, and Juan Patricio agrees.
The information he got so far, was centered on the names of Anna Patricia's parents(Ramon and Clara), that she has an older brother (Armando) who is married(to Luisa) and has one child(Aurelio), that she has a son(Martin), that her son's father died, when he was an infant, how her one marriage after failed because she could not get pregnant, her and her acceptance of the children(Hector and Gina) her brother and his wife adopted.
Later at the university, Aranza and Aurelio are sitting together near a tree. He notices she is unusually quiet and asks her about it. She tells him about the incident with her mother, earlier in the day. Aurelio still looks at her. He asks her what she is upto. Aranza smiles sweetly and says she is not upto anything. Aurelio says he does not believe her. Aranza says she does not plan on going to her mother's birthday. Aurelio then asks her, why she told her mother, she would if she has no plans to go.
Aranza says she is going to humiliate her mother in public on her birthday. Aurelio is shocked. He knew Aranza is a little sneaky, but this is crazy even for her. Aranza folds her hands and pouts. She asks him if he is siding with her mother. Aurelio holds her hands and says that he loves her and is on her side. He then adds that he would never be on her mother's side because he cannot respect a woman, who would blackmail her own child. Aranza then asks him, why he seems so shocked. Aurelio says that her mother is dangerous, and she has already proved that she loves no one but herself, by blackmailing her.
He then asks Aranza what she thinks her mother would do if she did not show up for the birthday. Aranza says that she sees his point, but adds that, it's just a birthday, and that it's not like it will cause any tensions for the company or with their business partners. When Aurelio is still quiet, she adds that she knows her mother, will be angry, but it will soon fizzle out without major repercussions. Aurelio is still unsure about the whole plan.
Meanwhile, Martin is sitting in the office garden, lost in his thoughts, when Marianna walks by. Unable to resist the urge, he makes fun of her and then calls her a witch. Marianna walks up to him. She says that she has had enough of him, always making fun of her. He stands and stares back at her, unperturbed. He then smiles and asks her, how she would like to be addressed. Marianna tells him, not to mess with her. He says that he is not afraid of her. She walks the few steps left towards him, stares him in the eyes, and says she is more dangerous than she looks.
The next day, a Friday dawns bright and early.
Juan Patricio goes to his office early. He is eager, to find out, what the investigator, knows about Anna Patricia. He opens his email and downloads the document. He goes through it, like a fine-toothed comb. He is shocked to see her connection to Hector and Gina.
He looks at the pictures of her family members. One picture, however, catches his eye, that of her mother Clara. He looks at Clara's image over and over again. His mind goes back, to over forty years ago, to an image of her. He then comes back to the present. Could it be her? He comes back to the present and continues, reading the report.
In the evening, Gina, Anna Patricia, and Hector go to visit John. He is pleased to see Gina. She cannot explain her feelings of feeling secure, loved, and protected when she is with him.
After, the visit, Gina tells Anna Patricia that she and Hector have errands to run. Anna Patricia looks at them both suspiciously. Hector says they won't be long. He says that he is accompanying his sister, to deliver a birthday card to an old friend.
Anna Patricia says she knows them both, and since they were children, when they went off together it only meant that they were upto something. Hector smiles and says that there is no reason to worry because they will be done soon.
Elsewhere, Marianna, Isabella, Alejandro, and Horacio, are at Isabella's house, plotting as usual. Isabella notices that Marianna is a little quieter than usual, and asks her about it. Marianna tells them about her constant run-ins with Martin, and how they always argue when they are in the same place. Isabella stares at her and asks her if there is anything she should know. Marianna folds her hands and says that there isn't.
Isabella says that they have plans to achieve and they cannot afford to get distracted. Marianna rolls her eyes and says that she (Isabella) is being overly dramatic. She says she cannot even stand Martin because he is spoiled and is a royal pain. Isabella is unconvinced. Horacio adds fuel to the fire and says that the line between love and hate is extremely thin, and hate has been known to breed passion in the past on many occasions.
Marianna says they are all just plain crazy. She reminds them, that he is in love with Emma. Alejandro asks her if that makes her jealous. Marianna says she could not care less if he dropped dead the next minute. Just then, she is overcome with a bout of nausea and goes to the loo. Alejandro tells Isabella and Horacio, that they should be careful with Marianna, and that they should watch how she acts around Martin.
Meanwhile, Gina and Hector are almost near the cyber, under disguise. They are under the shade of a tree when Gina turns to Hector and tells him that it was unnecessary for him to come because she is perfectly capable of sending out an email alone. He says she is his sister, and there is no way, he is going to let her go out on such a mission alone, especially, now that she is pregnant. Gina rolls her eyes and tells him that she is not a baby.
Hector smiles and says that she is still his little sister and that it is his duty, to always look out for her. Gina stares at him and reminds him that she is only five minutes younger than him. Hector smiles again. He knows that is one of the things that irritates his sister the most. So, he calls her little sister, to rattle her nerves. She gives him an annoyed look, as they cross the street to go to the cyber.
Meanwhile, Juan Patricio goes over what he learned in his mind. He decides to widen the investigation to also include Clara and Ramon. He is getting even surer by the day that Anna Patricia is related to her and he now believes that Clara is her.
Elsewhere, Aurelio and Aranza are at his grandparents' house. He watches her as she goes into the kitchen and smiles. She turns, folds her hands, and tells him that, she is not going home, and she needs a place to stay. She then adds that she does not want to bother Gina and Antonio, and Adrianna worries too much.
Aurelio gets serious and says that he is still worried about her mother's reaction when she finds out that she (Aranza) is not coming. Aranza tells him not to worry about her mother. Aranza reminds him that her mother doesn't love her. She then switches the topic and asks him where his grandparents and his aunt are. Aurelio says he doesn't know but they will be back soon.
Elsewhere, Antonio and Gina have just arrived at his house. While Antonio goes to the kitchen to get a glass of water, Gina thinks about what she and her brother have just done. She says to herself, that Helena and Carlos took everything from her and Hector, and they will take it all back. Antonio watches her deep in thought, and as he does often, wonders what Gina and Hector are hiding.
