While you sat on the bench, your dangling legs rocked back and forth. Often you'll scan the area to your left and right just to see if you could find your friend. Unfortunately, you've been doing that for a while now and it didn't seem to work out for you
"Am I still ever going to find you?" You deeply sighed in dismay as you gathered some energy to stand up from your seat. You paused for a moment to stretch your arms before setting out on yet, another voyage with no apparent destination. Once again on your own, you have no guidance in navigating the city nor what to do at this particular moment.
However, you were also piecing together some plans in your thoughts as you made your way to who knows where. You have several ideas about how to locate Izuku, and there are also some fallback options in case none of these ideas pan out. " I think my tails can help me move through the city faster. Maybe I can ask others nearby. Should I simply do it myself?" You pondered.
You could visually recollect the classic cable move of the Lightborn Ranger. You questioned whether your tails could also move swiftly through the air. Although you couldn't even use them the way you wanted to at the time, your uncertainties were high. "Maybe I should just get in touch with the local authorities?"
Suddenly, you felt the ground underneath you tremble slightly. Your line of thought stopped as you were almost knocked off your feet. Your focus has now been drawn to what recently happened. Everyone nearby seemed to have experienced the same thing as you.
One of them shouted, "Look! Over there!" and pointed. As your eyes followed, massive black clouds of smoke that were ascending from behind tall buildings drew your attention right away.
In the distance, you could also faintly hear explosions emanating from that location. You would experience ground tremors on your feet every time you heard a bang. While some individuals chose to disregard the problem and go about their daily lives, others share your level of worry. You heard a random stranger say, "C'mon! Let's check it out!"
You joined the group that sped up to the incident. You were concerned for your friend as you followed them in motion. Those explosions seemed quite familiar and you fear that those two boys confronting again might have caused this.
As soon as you arrive, you notice a large crowd gathered at an alleyway's entrance. The number of people who came to see was so large that the crowd nearly blocked the roadway. Police officers did all in their power to keep them at a safe distance. Despite the presence of cops, firefighters, and a couple of others you may assume to be professional heroes, none of them can stop the tragedy from its source.
"Omg! That villian has taken a child hostage!"
"The kid's quirk is so strong but he couldn't free himself from the villain."
"Why aren't the heroes doing anything?! The child might die!"
As you made your way through the crowd, you overheard rumors and discussions here and there. It was challenging to assess the situation within the alleyway due to the close spaces between people. You jumped, tip-toed and peeked over the shoulders of those in your front.
You strained your vision to get a better look, "Hey, is that...?" You were in a state of complete disbelief when you saw a familiar pair of teary red eyes. You said, "It's him! The bad guy from before." He was being engulfed by a massive sludge as flames surrounded the area as well.
He cried, trying to escape the slimy fiend, "Get the hell off me!" The liquid creature had a good hold on his form despite his strength. Even if he fired tremendous explosives and pry his limbs, he couldn't escape so easily. As you watched this unfortunate guy get devoured alive by a huge blob, your body simply stopped moving. It's not like you can do anything for him, right? Even the heroes standing on the alleyway's side were unable to approach the criminal.
"Maybe I can, should I?" You contemplated to yourself. Standing by and seeing him suffer didn't feel right. Even if the person you're eager to save treated you poorly and made fun of you, you still want to rescue. You continue to mull it over in your head, "I think I can fish him out with my tail? No, wait. What if I fail-?" Although the strategy is not tough, your doubts prevented you from carrying it out.
You are aware that you lack the abilities necessary to fight or defend yourself just yet. Perhaps if you had given your training more priority, by now you would have picked up a few tips and wouldn't be so self-conscious.
A quick flash of dark green curly hair causes your thoughts to be interrupted. As you made your way through the crowd to get closer, your eyes glowed with relief. You momentarily lost focus on the current catastrophe as you finally found your companion. The sense of relief was like of having a heavy thorn removed from your chest.
You attempted to yell, "Izuku!" But as you drew near, you saw the horrified look on his face. Izuku had his hands around his mouth and was staring intently at the situation in front of you both. His body was visibly shaking. The corners of his eyes are beginning to bubble up with tears. You may feel relieved, but it still hurts to see him in this state. Once more, you felt as though a heavy feeling was pressing down on you. You let out a big sigh, hoping the feeling would leave your heart. The longer the incident went unresolved, the worse it felt to you both.
"Izuku?" You call for his attention as you attempt to get closer. It was difficult to squeeze through the crowded area. You yelled "Izuku!" once again, but he hardly seemed to hear you. Your speech was drowned out by the booming noises of the explosions and the yelling of others. You questioned whether he shared your sentiments over wishing to help but not being able to. He may have felt it as well, and more intensely than you did. You were concerned about how he seemed right now, and all you want to do is give him a little reassurance.
One last time you shouted "Izuku!" to attract his attention. You extended your hand to tap his shoulder when you finally got close enough to him. But just as you were about to feel the fabric of his uniform with the tips of your fingers, the boy sprinted in front of you.
You were surprised. Everybody who was there was surprised. It happened so suddenly that it took you some time to recognize that your friend had zoomed into the restricted zone. The professional heroes could be heard yelling at him to stop. Izuku, however, never looked back before as he sprinted towards the stranded victim.
"Excuse me! Excuse me, please!" You pushed and shoved your way through the crowd to get a closer look at what was in front. As soon as he burst onto the scene, you felt as though your heart had just fallen. "Is he trying to get himself killed?!" You panicked.
"Take this!" Izuku shouted as he charged the villain with his yellow backpack. The contents were launched into the air, striking the blob's eyes and other critical areas. As a result of being stunned, the sludge villain lost control of his victim.
The sludge that came out of Katsuki's mouth made him cough in disgust. Izuku shouted "Kaachan!" as you saw him struggle to set his friend free. He frantically fought to remove it by digging with his own hands into the slime. The ash-blonde asked hoarsely, "Deku? What the hell are you doing here?"
From a distance, you couldn't make out all Izuku was saying. Despite the tears running down his freckled cheeks, you could see a smile on his face. You genuinely questioned what was going on and whether Izuku would be successful in releasing his friend. You just wished that this would be over quickly.
"You damn brat!" The sludge villain violently shouted in a gargled voice. He created a massive hand-shaped muck and prepared to attack the two using his power over Katsuki's quirk. Izuku could be seen bracing himself for the impending blow.
"Kid! He's going to get killed!" The pro heroes on the side hurried to leap into action to save him. On the other hand, you wanted to follow suit but couldn't because of the crowd. The officers prevented you from doing what Izuku did, which was to breach their barrier and flee into the on burning alleyway.
A gust of wind appears out of nowhere behind you. Because of how forceful it was, your body was somewhat pushed forward. Everyone else appeared to have experienced the same thing. "What was that?!" One of them asked as t hey stared back. Your eyes were fixed on the oncoming attack that your friend is going to receive.
After hearing a huge explosion, the ground began to tremble once more beneath your feet. It seemed considerably stronger than when you were a few kilometers away. Your view was obstructed by the smoke, filth, and dust that was all around you. Your eyes were shut closed to protect them.
There was a brief period of silence. You quickly opened your eyes again as you made an effort to look through the smoke and dust that were still lingering around. Even though you looked for Izuku, it was difficult to see or hear him. You nervously wondered in your head, swiveling left and right to get a closer look at him. "I-Is he still alive?!"
