He watches as she places her hands at her sides and looks down. She then tells him that he should not make such jokes, as he is not funny. He places his hands on her chin and holds up her chin so that she faces him. He asks her if he looks like he is joking. Gina stammers as she tries to say something. He says that he has no idea how or when it happened but it did, and he loves her. He says he feels like he has known her forever. This makes her guilty and afraid of his reaction when he eventually finds out who she really is. He asks her if she loves him, as well. She can't lie, and deny what is obvious and says she does. Antonio asks her what she is afraid of if she loves him. She says it's a long story.
He says they have time because supper is from 6:30, pm. She knows he will insist, and it is better to get this conversation out of the way. Gina says there is something that has been swept under the carpet. He asks her what it is. Gina says she knows he has heard the audio from some months ago, because most people at work did, and it has been eating at her, why he has never brought the issue up, even though he has had many opportunities to do so. Antonio knew this day would one day come. He says he did hear the audio, and it hurt him, that she judged him, based on what other people said, and what was written about him in the media and online. He adds that it hurt him more than he cared to admit at the time and even now.
He says even then he had already fallen in love with her and that is why it hurt him, only that he had not noticed it. He also admits that he thought about paying her back but eventually decided to pursue her, change her mind about him and win her over. Gina apologizes for not saying sorry earlier and for her comments. She says she knows he might still be angry about it but she hopes he can forgive her. He strokes her face and tells her not to be worried about it, because it is all in the past, and what is important is that they love each other.
Gina is partly relieved, at least that is out of the way, but the biggest issue, still remains but she can't tell him. Antonio asks her if there is anything else, and she momentarily pauses then says no. Antonio still has a feeling, there is something big, she is keeping, but decides to let the issue go for now. He asks her to be his girlfriend. Gina hoped he would one day ask her, but is still overwhelmed by how she feels and the magnitude of the changes, challenges, and possibilities for the future. A future she hopes can be theirs. She agrees. He smiles and leans in to kiss her.
After a few minutes, he reluctantly pulls away and says he has a gift for her. He tells her to close her eyes. She does but asks him what he is upto. He tells her to be patient and pulls out a wrapped box. He then tells her to open her eyes. She stares at it, surprised and he tells her to open it. When she does, she sees the most beautiful set of green jewelry. It had a pair of earrings, one necklace, and one bracelet. Gina is awestruck and has tears in her eyes. He wipes them away with his fingers and says that today is a happy occasion. He asks her if she likes them.
She says she does and asks him why he chose green. He says because it is her favorite color. He says it is easy to tell because she has a lot of green things and she always wears one green item. He says he chose the forest because it is different, out of the box, and full of green things and asks her if she minds. She says she doesn't and loves that he thought out the plan well, and considered what she likes. She thanks him for noticing, and again for the gifts, and leans in and kisses him.
At 6:10 pm they begin making their way for supper. Gina asks him when they should tell people they are a couple. Antonio checks his watch, and then says he will take a microphone, after supper and shout it out. Gina smiles. Antonio then says they should tell their friends and family, and that everyone else will get the idea. Hector wanted all of them to sit together, but Adrianna said the girls had important matters to discuss.
Gina is shocked and suspects Emma and Adrianna are about to grill her about Antonio. Antonio tells her that gossiping is not important. Adrianna rolls her eyes and says that is what she has had to deal with for nearly 19 years. Antonio says, she can't complain because he is entertaining. Gina says and humble as well, as they all walk together into the dining area. During supper, people sat in tables of four, though sitting arrangements could be adjusted.
Gina sits with Adrianna and Emma, during supper. Their table is at a corner, so they have more privacy than most of their colleagues. Adrianna and Emma look at each other, then at Gina and smile. Gina looks at both of them and asks what they are upto and what they are conspiring about. Adrianna says she (Gina) is the one who should be explaining. Adrianna says she has never seen Antonio that happy, or so in love.
Gina blushes, and Adrianna and Emma squeal, drawing stares from a few nearby people. Antonio can hear them and knows Gina has already told Emma and Adrianna. She then admits that Antonio asked her to be his girlfriend, and she agreed, and he gave her a set of matching green jewelry. She shows them the bracelet and they stare in fascination. The girls then begin discussing the jewelry. Adrianna hopes Hector will take a cue from Antonio and ask her to be his girlfriend as Antonio did with Gina. She loves him so much.
Gina tells her to relax, and not worry because Hector will ask her to be his girlfriend soon. Adrianna tries to act nonchalantly, about it but Emma tells her it is obvious. Adrianna asks her how she knew and Gina says for one, she knows her cousin well and has never seen him so in love with anyone. She adds that her cousin is a little slow but he will ask her very soon.
Antonio informs Hector and Martin of the same, and they congratulate him. After a while, Antonio tells Hector, that Adrianna is like a younger sister or cousin to him, and he wants to see her happy.
He says she is a special woman, and Alejandro put her through hell, and he wants her to be with someone who loves and values her. Hector assures her he does and will make things official soon. Martin complains that Antonio has set the bar high, and asks what kind of surprise are the rest of them to pull. Antonio smiles and says he will give them tips, and they laugh and drink tequila.
Meanwhile, Aranza and Aurelio leave the bowling rink at 7:00 pm, take a snack then head home. Aranza asks him if he will cook and he says he is tired but they can make sandwiches. Aranza says she has very many recipes they can choose from and adds that she is going to change into her pajamas first. Aurelio laughs and she asks him why he is laughing. Aurelio says pajamas are for children. Aranza says she is no child and reminds him she is only one year younger than him. She turns to go to Gina's room then turns back and asks Aurelio if he will change.
He says he will because they are not going anywhere, else today. Aranza then stomps off into Gina's room to change. Aurelio smiles, as he goes to his room. What a girl! She is stubborn, and can occasionally be irritating, and loud like Gina. Aurelio thinks of all the similarities Aranza has with both Gina and Hector. She has many of Gina's traits and a love for graphic design. She also has Hector's photography talent and skill and spontaneity.
Aranza sighs and combs her hair. Aurelio still sees her as a little girl. Aranza says what a fool and proceeds to wear her lilac satin spaghetti top and shorts. She then ties her hair with a light blue bandana. She picks up her phone and goes to get a cup of water. Aurelio hears movement in the kitchen and goes to rejoin Aranza. He stops once he sees her. She is breathtaking, in an I don't care or unaware way which he finds very attractive.
She has a natural/effortless beauty and grace about her.
When she notices him staring at her, she walks up to him, and lectures him on how inappropriate it is to stare at a lady, who she reminds him, she is. He tells her how beautiful she is. Aranza stops talking and says thank you. Aurelio moves in and before he can think about it twice, kisses her. Aranza kisses him back. Aurelio then pulls away and says that they should go and watch the movie.
Back at Esmeralda forest, after the one-hour supper, people begin breaking off into groups. Some go into the entertainment area, to either watch television or dance (separately). Others break off into couples. Gina had returned the jewelry to her room and kept them in Emma's things. Both Emma and Adrianna had agreed that Isabella is a psycho and it was better to keep the jewelry safe, in case at any one point she went snooping. Martin had just come to get Emma and Hector to get Adrianna.
Antonio is in his room, about to go and get Gina when there is a knock. He opens it and to his annoyance it's Isabella. She jumps into his arms but Antonio pushes her away. He says he has to leave and he can't leave her here. Isabella says she has heard that he has asked the townie girl to be his girlfriend. Antonio says Gina has a name and yes he has made it official. Isabella asks him what he sees in Gina. Antonio says she is beautiful, smart, kind, has dignity, and makes him feel things he has never felt before. Antonio coolly asks her if he should continue. He is already out of the door. Isabella stomps, leaves and he locks it. Antonio decides not to tell Gina.
