Chapter twenty eight
"The final show."
Everyone in the audience had arrived from parents to friends to even the man and women from Juilliard who were gonna decided who by the show got the scholarship so as everyone sat down the lights went low, Kelsi walked up to the orchestra as everyone started clapping as she then walked to the piano and began playing Ryan came up from the piano as the lights went on the stage showing there senior year sign as Kelsi started singing.
"It's our last chance
to share the stage
before we go our separate ways."
And as she sang, Ryan sat on the piano as he turned to her and started singing with her.
"High school wasn't meant
to last forever
It's our last chance
for us to shine
to bring you music
one more time

come on, come on, come on."
And as Ryan turned around Kelsi pointed out as a whistle was blown, the curtain went up as Tory, Martha and the cheerleaders in they're uniforms came running out on stage as everyone in the audience cheered and clapped as Tory and the girls started dancing and singing.
"W I L D wildcats!
You know your on
W I L D wildcats!
Come on, come on
East High boys
Let's make some noise
Oh, yeah. W I L D wildcats!
Now's the time."
And as they fanned out as Chad in the guys walked out onto the stage without Tory's brother who was still driving back from being with Gabriella where everyone once again cheered as Chad began to sing and dance with the guys and their basketballs.
"this is the last time
to get it right
this is the last chance
to make it our night
we got to show
what we're all about
work together
this is the last chance
to make our mark
history will know
who we are
this is the last game so make
it count it's now or neverrrr
yeahhh."
And when they were done the whole crowd started to cheer for them as they began heading off the stage. And before Ryans performance Tory was going on for her solo as she ran past everyone else to go get changed as she met up with Taylor who was holding her dress "go, go, go." she told her as Tory grabbed the dress and ran off Taylor and Martha ran after her as the stage began to get changed for her performance where when Tory was getting changed, Taylor had zipped up her dress as Ryan ran in with Kelsi "Tory, there's a problem." Kelsi told her as Tory put her hair down and looked at her "other than my brother not being here and potentially ruining our show?" she asked as she began walking out with Taylor and Martha following her.
In which Ryan and Kelsi followed after her as Ryan pushed Kelsi to tell her as Kelsi huffed "someone told the people from Juilliard that you broke both your legs and I know this because I heard them talking about you after the applause died down." she shared as Tory, Martha and Taylor turned to her in shock "what?" they asked as Kelsi threw her hands up "I know!" she voiced "well, what do I..I don't know." Tory was telling them as Ryan pulled a music sheet out of his pocket "I have a new song for you to dance to. You just do your solo. And I got the rest handled." he told her "I can't learn a new song!" Tory shared as Kelsi sighed as she grabbed, Tory's hand and dragged her off as Ryan began giving everyone back stage jobs to do.
And soon it was her turn as the lights were low, Tory walked onto the stage in her blue dress as Kelsi pointed to the orchestra the sound of rain and lightning could be heard as it lit up on the backdrop as Tory stood on the stage, taking a deep breath as she looked out at everyone as she began to sing.
"Whenever I was frightened or ever felt alone."
She held her arms close to her as she did a spin, she stopped was she turned around facing the backdrop she held her arms out as a bright star appeared in the midst of a whole night sky full of them.
"I turned to the night sky at a star I call my own
Somewhere I could run to, just across the Milky Way

It's just a lightyear and a day."
Having moved across the stage she did an arabesque as she extended her left foot behind her, getting her feet back on the ground, she did a spin, and then another spin as she stopped and went into a pirouette.

When we find ourselves in Never, Neverland."
Turning around, she began walking across the stage as she did a spin holding her leg out and continued to dance.

Standing still she moved her arms out and then did a spin into a grand jete.
"Picture a land you'll never have seen
Where life is eternal and evergreen
Future of happiness all in your hands
All in this place I created that I call Neverland."
Doing a spin, she kept spinning as she brought her leg up all the way and as she spun, Ryan back stage pulled a rope as glitter began falling from the sky and as everyone in the audience clapped for her he cheered as did everyone else backstage, getting back on her own two feet she began dancing around as she smiled.

And when it ended she headed off the stage as everyone in the audience clapped she ran and jumped into Ryans arms as he spun her around cheering but when he put her back down it was now his turn to perform as she turned going to get changed for the big end number Having gotten dressed Tory got to catch the end of his number which was amazingly choreographed to the stage design the background dancers, the clothes as Ryan sang.

all the glam and the press
only giving me
the best reviews

In which the background dancers danced around him as he then moved through them they grabbed him and pulled him back and forth.
"We want it all
My band! Thank you!
East High, you're amazing
good night."
Ryan had sang as he was now being held up by four of the background dancers as two of them laid on the floor, the whole audience cheered as the band played, the four girls rolled Ryan onto the floor as he posed at the end of the stage and as Ryan got up and walked out with the backup dancers, Tory pulled him into a big hug "ahh, you were amazing!" she told him as Ryan shook his head "no you're amazing if it wasn't for you, I'd still be apart of the Sharpay show and so would everyone else. Now I gotta go talk to my sister but I'll make sure everybody's ready for the finale." he told her as he began walking away "thank you!" Tory yelled to him and as she turned around Rocketmans friend was standing there "I need your help." he told Tory in which she furrowed her brows.
But as he brought her to where he was talking about he opened the door and Rocketman was still in his dressing room "what are you doing? You're up right now!" Tory yelled as Rocketman turned to her "I can't go out there." he told her as Tory chuckled "well, you're gonna have to sometime, so.." she told him as she walked towards him grabbing whatever she could find as his friend followed her in, he pulled him up out of the chair as Tory began putting it on him "Sharpay's gonna kill you." his friend told her "don't care. My brothers not here so if his song get's ruined. It'll just make my finale that much better." Tory shared as she put the hat on his head "great, let's go." she told them as she grabbed Rocketmans hand and began dragging him out of the dressing room as his friend followed laughing as Sharpay was singing.

Getting there Tory pushed Rocketman forward and turned to the lighting crew as they flashed the lights, Rocketman then jumped out and began dancing around as the audience gasped, Tory couldn't help but laugh as she walked around to find the others.

And as he wrapped his arms around Sharpay it was hilarious as Sharpay started singing with him but her face was priceless, she was so confused as the two of them began dancing, the audience was laughing.

And the song was over as Sharpay ran off the stage, Rocketman turned around and began taking in all the glory from the audience in which Tory was still laughing as Ryan had his hands over his mouth as Troy and Gabriella arrived "hey." Troy told Sharpay "oh. Perfect. Go for it. Save the day. Whoopee!" she told them as she pushed passed them, Ryan and Tory walked up to them "what?" Gabriella asked "you guys gotta see this." Ryan told them as Tory turned around her and Ryan went back to the curtain and showed them Rocketman who did a spin "you know I think the audience might like that version better then yours so..if it's okay with you mr director not to be that girl but I think my brother doesn't deserve to be in our show." Tory shared as she turned back to her brother and Gabriella as Ryan chuckled.
"Tory, you're kidding?" Troy asked her as Tory furrowed her brows "someone told the people at Juilliard that I have two broken legs. Im not playing anymore. So if you wanna go out there fine. But Im not apart of it." she shared, walking off.
And as they did their performance it was soon time for what was supposed to be Sharpay's performance but now Tiara's and when Tory was walking back, Sharpay ran into her "I need to talk to you." she told her as Tory raised her brows "is this because you called Juilliard and said I had broken legs and want to make it up to me?" she asked as Sharapay shook her head "no, no. Tory that wasn't me! That was Tiara!" she shared as Tory nodded "so you're clone betrayed you?" she asked.
"Yes! So I need your help to take her down so that outfits not gonna work." Sharpay told her as Tory looked down "well, I wasn't exactly planning on.." she was telling her as Sharpay didn't give her time to talk and began dragging her off.
While Tiaras performance had started the guys sang.
"Who's that girl
She's so fine
Who's that girl
I don't recognize
Who's that girl
She looks so good, yeah
Guess you never really
noticed but you probably
should."
As Tiara then began singing
"Big fun
on the night of nights

on the night of nights
you know we're gonna
do it right."
Then Sharpay came down from the sky on the right in a matching blue outfit of Tiaras while Tory came out of the wings on the left with a red dress on as they both sang.
"It's gonna be our night"
In which Tiara looked to the right first up at Sharpay then to the left at Tory having been caught.
"to remember
of all time
big fun."
In which everyone came running out to watch it happen.
"It's gonna be the night

the rest of our lives
we'll never ever forget."
So when Sharpay came down she went to walk to the middle of the stage as Tiara then went and walked in front of her which was when Tory came in as she walked up grabbing Tiaras hand and spinning her out of the way.
"it's gonna be

Then Tiara came up and pushed Tory who caught herself and turned to her with Sharpay by her side.
"say it loud."
One of the guys sang as Sharpay and Tiara pushed him away.
"come on now
everyone, that's right."
And Sharpay had grabbed onto Tiara as the two began tugging on each other as they began to dance together as Tory stood there with a smirk as she looked to Ryan.
"it's gonna be a night
you can bet
to remember
hear the crowd."
In which Tory pulled them apart and grabbed both their hands spinning them around as the guys sang.
"And never ever ever
never ever ever."
Tory pushed the girls behind her as she stood in front of them, Ryan pressed a button as the ground began to go down below the both of them.
"never ever, never ever
forget."
Where Tory then did a spin and posed with one hand in the air as she smiled wide as the audience cheered, Tory saw her dad point at her as she nodded, the curtain closed as the backup dancers walked up to her and picked her up and carried her off stage and as they put her down, Tory ran off to get changed with everyone else because it was finally time for the finale.
And as everyone got on stage in there places except for Troy and Gabriella who they had cut out not knowing if they'd be here for it as the lights were off it started slow as two spotlights were on Tory and Jason in the front as Jason sang first.
"I use to see the world as cold
So cold."
Tory then sang next as everyone slowly danced behind them.
"I always felt so all alone

As her and Jason then faced each other, he sang again as they walked towards each other.
"How did you know you'd find me here
Yeah."
In which the two faced the audience again as Tory sang
"How did you ever see behind my tears
Yeah."
Then the others began to harmonize as Tory then sang as Jason turned around to join the others as Tory danced.
"I never realized
How anyone could make everything so rightA heart so sad
You brought me back."
Then an explosion went off in the back as smoke appeared and Chad appeared as he sang.
"Ohhhhhhh."
In which him, Tory and the others all began dancing and singing together.

Then Chad joined Tory standing next to her as the two of them danced together along with everyone else as they continued singing.

I'm meant to be."
And in that moment the women from Juilliard turned to her partner pointing right at Tory "that is definitely a girl with two working legs." she shared as the man next to her nodded as they all turned around facing away from the audience, then Chad and Tory turned to face each other along with the others behind them as Chad started to sing.
"I don't have to imagine anymore
No."
And they moved past each other, Tory sang.
"oh
All the time it was you I was waiting for
Oh."
Then the two parted ways as Tory went to the right doing a spin, Chad jumped doing a spin as well as the two stood by different groups of dancers as they all sang and danced.
"And here we are together side by side
And nothing seems impossible tonight."
Then they all began walking towards each other as they switched sides, standing next to there partners again as the background dancers harmonized, Tory started singing with Chad.

And seemed to get me from the start
And we've got the chance."
Then they all began singing together as they moved their hands into the air.

As they all then started moving around again and jumped in the air as they danced around again.

Then as Tory and Chad ran to the back, Martha came up to the front and started singing while others did flips or dance moves whatever they wanted to do cause that was what this finale was about showing what you can do.

Then Tory and Chad were back in the front as these colorful lights shined on them as Tory began singing again as they all danced.
"Oh

That's the one thing we can trust

Show how we belong here together."
Then the guitar solo came in as the spotlight shined on him, they all began harmonizing and doing different dance moves as Tory stood on the right side of the stage Zeke was across from her as the two waited for everyone else to do there thing.
And when they moved out of the way, Zeke went into the middle and motioned with his hands for her to come towards him and when she ran towards him it made a few people stand up in there seats like Tory's parents, Mrs Darbus and the Juilliard people as when Tory reached Zeke he lifted her up into the air and held her there which got a bunch of applause as he then brought her back onto the ground, the two of them then went to stand with everyone else as they all jumped the lights flashed as the background music stopped as they sang.

Then as they jumped again the guitar and the drums played as the lights flashed but stopped as they landed back on the ground.
"After all that we've been through."
And as they all began dancing and singing again, the music came back in normally.

And as they continued dancing, Chad grabbed Tory's hand and spun her towards him as she picked her up and spun her around.
"Ohhh

Ohhh."
And in the end everyone ran around them as Chad dipped Tory an explosion went off in the background as the lights went black the whole crowd then began to cheer as they all stood up clapping where they all then headed off the stage.
Where soon it was time for the actual end as Mrs Darbus had gotten the choices from the people from Juilliard and began to walk on stage as the curtains opened others in white caps and gown along with some red ones stood there as the crowd cheered "ladies and gentleman! Our seniors!" Mrs Darbus yelled as Tory and all her friends walked through everyone else to stand in the front "Kelsi Neilson, the Juilliard school scholarship recipient. Music." Mrs Darbus shared and Kelsi's jaw dropped so did Tory's as the two turned to each other and hugged each other as everyone in the audience stood up clapping.
"Jason Cross. You did it you graduated." Mrs Darbus told him as he cheered, he turned jumping into Zekes arms in which Tory laughed as the audience cheered "Taylor Mckessie Yale university with honors, political science." Mrs Darbus shared as Taylor walkie dup snapping her fingers as the audience cheered as she "and I am pleased to announce that due to the excellence displayed her this evening the Juilliard School has made the extraordinary decision another senior is being offered a Juilliard scholarship. Congratulations Mr Ryan Evans choreography." Mrs Darbus shared as the crowd cheered Ryan was shocked "and congratulations, Ms Sharpay Evans, university of Albuquerque performing arts. Miss Evans has agreed to return to East High next fall to assist me in running the drama department." Mrs Darbus shared as the crowd cheered.
"And now a senior who I believe has a decision to make. Mr Troy Bolton. Troy." Mrs Darbus told him as Troy stepped forward "I've chosen basketball. But I've also chosen theatre" he shared as everyone in the crowd stood up cheering especially Troy and Tory's parents "the university of California, Berkley, offers me both. That's where Im gonna be attending next fall. But most of all, I choose the person who inspires my heart. Which is why I picked a school that's exactly thirty two point seven miles from you. Miss Gabriella Montez, Stanford university, pre law." Troy shared and as the crowd cheered, Tory looked around and didn't see Chad which was strange "next, Mr Chad Danforth. University of Albuquerque basketball scholarship!" Mrs Darbus shared as Tory then took her cap off and began running off, Troy followed behind her.
Where the two found him in the gym shooting baskets as Tory and Troy walked in as Chad went to make another one "he goes up for the shot and it's good. East High wildcat victory for the record books!" Troy shared as Tory began shaking her hands and cheering like she had her pom poms as Troy mimicked the crowd cheering and then the two stopped.
"So, I guess once they hand us that diploma were done here?" Chad asked "what makes you think we're getting diplomas?" Troy asked as Tory chuckled with Chad "one question for you." he told Troy "does Berkley play?" he asked "oh, yeah. We're scheduled to kick some RedHawks butt next November." Troy shared "game on. Hoops." Chad told him as Tory laughed.
As the two then looked to Tory "and you?" Chad asked as Tory shook her head "no, no, Im not doing this you guys are making me cry." she told them as she wiped her tears away as Troy and Chad pulled her into a group hug in which she hugged them back "Im gonna miss you guys, so much." Tory told them.
As neither of the three realized her and Troys dad were standing there watching them "Danforth. Boltons!" he yelled at them as the three pulled apart "you get out there and you get on stage!" he told them as the three all looked to each other in shock "I'd never thought I'd here my dad say that." Troy shared and as Tory laughed, she looked at both of them and then started running "no, no!" Troy and Chad yelled to her and went running after her.
Although when they got back to the stage Mrs Darbus was standing in the middle as everyone looked to them Chad and Troy walked to there spots as Tory followed in behind them.
"Ms Bolton, I believe these are for you." Mrs Darbus shared as she pulled a bouquet of flowers from behind her back as Tory furrowed her brows she walked up and grabbed them as everyone stood there watching her as well as the audience as there was a card which she read to herself "dear, Ms Bolton we loved your dance videos and your performance tonight and hereby invite you to be our third Julliard Scholarship recipient to Julliard...oh my god!" she screamed, crying.
As Mrs Darbus turned around "ladies and gentlemen, our third Juilliard scholarship recipient, Ms Tory Bolton for dance!" she shared and as everyone began to cheer.
Kelsi screamed "oh my god!" as she ran off from the line and up to her new best friend and as she jumped in her arms, Tory caught her as the two spun around, knowing they were gonna be officially roommates and best friends forever.
