POV: Teruhashi Kokomi
Ever since the ramen incident, I really want us to go to an actual date.
T: Saiki,
S: What is it?
T: Let's go to the beach.
S: Why?
T: What do you mean why? So we can have a date there.
He raised one of his eyebrows and crossed his arms. He thinks that I have ulterior motives. Oh wait, he knows I have ulterior motives.
I shortened my distance with Saiki until I'm right in front of him.
T: Come on, I promise it will be fun.
His cold face slowly breaks. He closed his eyes as he says
S: Good grief. Fine.
T: Yay! See you tomorrow!
Tomorrow,
Saiki and I finished changing to our beach clothes at the changing room. The weather's so nice for a beach date.
All the guys at the beach started applauding as they see me.
S: This situation is oddly familiar.
I turned to Saiki wearing swimming trunks. One thing surprised me.
T: You know Saiki,
S: Hm?
T: For someone with super strength, your build is normal.
S: Bulging muscles are unnecessary and will interrupt my daily life.
T: Does that mean you dont have muscles?
S: I do, its just not visible.
As we were talking, we heard a scream. I looked and saw a kid drowning. I was going to do something until Saiki put his hand on my shoulder. I turned towards him.
S: Wait for it...
I looked towards the drowning kid again and saw a jet of water approaching the kid. From below, Hairo Kineshi carried the kid and took him to shore. He was thanked by the kid's mother and admired by the people at the beach.
T: Oh, its Hairo-kun.
S: Why is he sweating? He just jumped in the water seconds ago.
He noticed Saiki and I watching him.
Hairo Kineshi: Oh, Saiki-kun! Teruhashi-san!
T: Hi, Hairo kun.
H: It's rare to see you together alone.
I blushed a little from what he said. But then I realized I have to make a reason on why we're together. I asked in a begging tone.
T: *Saiki,*
S: Its fine. Just tell him we're improving our swimming.
T: *Are you sure?*
S: I am sure.
T: We're just practicing our swimming.
H: Oh, why dont you say so. I would love to help but I have to do my lifeguard duty. See you!
T: Ok. See you Hairo kun.
As soon as Hairo-kun jogged off far enough, I continued talking to Saiki.
T: How do you always know what to say?
S: I don't think you've noticed how predictable the people we know are.
T: Really? Well, forget about that, lets have fun!
I grabbed Saiki's hand and dragged him to the shore.
T: Do you know how to have fun at the beach?
S: Well yeah.
T: Then let's get started!
I splashed water at him. He dipped his two hands to the ocean, and next thing I know, a gigantic wave of water formed in front of me and swept me of my feet.
S: Oops. Are you ok?
I looked at his slightly worried face and laughed.
T: Be gentler next time
S: Got it.
T: But that's enough of that, Lets go swimming!
I jumped to the water before Saiki to get ahead of him. I swam for a while and looked back. Saiki is not there. I looked forward and saw Saiki floating in the water in front of me.
T: Woah!
S: You thought you can outswim me?
T: Well I was trying to.
Saiki and I enjoyed our time swimming together. Well, Saiki wasn't technically swimming. He's more gliding in the water like a penguin.
T: Saiki! Lets have a water breathing competition!
Saiki pops out of the water.
S: Are you sure?
T: Yeah! 1 2 3 go!
I submerged myself in the seawater. As soon as I opened my eyes, Saiki is nowhere to be seen in the ocean blue. I came back to the surface of the water as I ran out of breath. I started to wonder Saiki's whereabouts. I don't think I have to worry about Saiki. But he did say some of his powers is uncontrollable. What if something bad happened? Great, now I'm sincerely worrying.
S: Teruhashi.
T: Aah!
Why does he keep showing up behind me?
S: I somehow got lost in the ocean.
You can get lost in the ocean?
S: And I found this.
He showed me a beige oyster with a squiggly mouth.
T: I don't think that's from Japan.
S: I might have teleported midway. And I soon noticed that everything looks the same when you're in the ocean, wherever you are.
Must have been rough.
The oyster suddenly opened and a shiny white pearl glimmered.
T: Wow, the pearl looks so beautiful!
Saiki plainly looks at the beauty of nature in his hands.
S: Do you want it?
T: Of course!
S: I'll keep it in the oyster for now. Here.
T: Thank you, Saiki!
I gave a bright smile.
S: Sure.
We did a few other things such as building a sandcastle,
T: Did you just make a miniature Himeji castle?
S: Is it? I just copied the nearest castle I can find.
played beach volleyball, did watermelon splitting (had to do it twice since Saiki destroyed the first once),
S: You know I can still tell where the watermelon is right?
T: Come on, its just a fun way to split the watermelon at the beach.
I even convinced Saiki to let me bury him in the sand.
T: Do you need help getting out?
S: Not really.
He casually forces his arm up the surface of the sand and got out.
Doing all of that tired me out, so we decided to just rest at the beach under the beach parasol.
Saiki is just enjoying the moment with his eyes closed. This is how Saiki usually enjoys his time at the beach. I looked at Saiki's hand. This is my chance! But as soon as I reached out...
?: Yo! Loser nerd!
POV: Saiki Kusuo
Loser nerd? Who even uses that word?
I opened my eyes. Two beach jocks look over me.
Beach Jock 1: Looks like you're having fun with the pretty lady over there.
I turned to Teruhashi, she looks quite concerned.
Beach Jock 2: She'll have way more fun if she hangs out with us, so why wont you buzz off.
I see. They're targeting me because they can't target Teruhashi. This is getting annoying.
T: What are you-
S: No.
She wanted to dissolve the situation.
S: Let me handle this.
BJ1: Oh. You're not going to hide behind your girlfriend?
I walked towards him and put my right hand on his right shoulder.
BJ1: What are you doi-aAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
As soon as he wanted to move my arm, I gripped his shoulder with considerable force.
BJ2: You bastard!
He tried to punch me but I grabbed his wrist with my left hand and did the same thing. Both jocks are so overwhelmed with pain that they cant fight back or move my arm away.
Looks like the screams of pain reached the ears of the lifeguard.
H: What's going on!
I hear Hairo as he's sprinting towards us. Wait, he cant see me physically overpowering two adults. I decided to let go of them and they both drop to the ground.
BJ1: This guys a monster!
BJ2: Let's get out of here!
H: What happened?
As soon as Hairo arrived, the two jocks ran off in fear.
T: Uhm...
S: Tell him they both had muscle cramps.
T: They both had muscle cramps.
H: Really? That bad?
T: Maybe they didnt warm up before swimming.
H: I see... well, if there are no other problems, I'm going back to my lifeguard duties. See you, again.
T: Ok, see you, again.
POV: Hairo Kineshi
If my eyes aren't deceiving me, I'm sure I saw Saiki causing the screams from the two guys. I knew Saiki had some hidden potential, but that's beyond what I expected. Alright! I'll use every opportunity to challenge him next time!
POV: Saiki Kusuo
I shuddered.
T: What's wrong?
S: I suddenly had a bad feeling.
T: How bad?
S: It's either a global disaster or a usual annoyance.
T: I don't think that's something I should not worry about.
S: Anyway, we should go, its getting pretty late.
T: Oh yeah, it is.
POV: Teruhashi Kokomi
We left as the sun sets on the beach. As we were walking to Saiki's house,
T: You didn't have to hurt them like that.
S: It was either that or something way worse.
T: Maybe you just wanted to look cool in front of me.
S: Not really, it's more about self defence.
T: But,
I tugged Saiki's sleeve.
T: It was pretty cool...
I made him flinch a bit. He closed his eyes and smiled.
S: Sure, thanks.
As we were walking, I took the time to look at the pearl in the oyster.
I wonder what I can do with this?
