Ezra POV
"I don't understand this."
My eyes widened as my whole body turned to Maudie.
Maudie Miller doesn't understand something?
"What?" Maudie asked.
"Nothing, it's just that I'm not used to you not understanding things." I said.
"Well you can practice now, I don't understand this question." Maudie said, sliding her textbook closer to me.
I took a look at the question.
She's right, this question is hard.
However, I know how to solve it.
"It's easy once you master it, you just have to plus this, times pi, minus half of the beginning number." I said.
"My brain hurts, sometimes i hate being in Express Mathematics." Maudie said, rubbing her temples.
I looked at her.
Something is wrong.
She's never like this...
Plus, she looks tired
She usually gets things right away.
"Maudie, are you alright?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm just a bit slow today." Maudie said.
"Do you want to take a rest?" I asked.
"No, the math exam is next week, I need to get this equation." Maudie said.
"No let me check your temperature." I said. "May I?" I asked.
Maudie nodded.
I got on my knees and got closer to her.
I pressed my knuckles against her forehead.
Her forehead felt hot
"Maudie, you're sick." I said.
"Sick? I never get sick-" Maudie said.
"But you are, you need to rest." I said.
"Your right." Maudie said. "It's unfortunate that my dad left for a conference though."
"Right.." I said. "No one is here to take care of you.."
"I can do it myself." Maudie said.
"I should call Ava, she's good with these things..." I said, pulling my phone out.
"You can't, remember she's in a school trip to Hong Kong." Maudie said.
"Oh.." I said.
"You don't have to worry; I can take care of myself." Maudie said.
"No you have to rest and someone needs to take care of you." I said.
"You can do it." Maudie said.
I froze.
"Me?" I asked.
"Who else?" Maudie asked as she started sniffing.
I looked at Maudie's current state,
she looked very ill.
I guess I have to.
If not I would live with the guilt.
"I'll do it." I said.
"Thanks Ezra." Maudie smiled.
I smiled back.
"Get some rest, I'll make something for you to eat." I said.
"Sure." Maudie said weakly.
Maudie stood up and laid down on the bed.
I stood up and took one last look at her.
She kept shivering and quivering.
Seeing her like that made me feel so bad.
I felt so bad, my chest started hurting
I ran to her closet and grabbed a fluffy blanket.
I unfolded it and laid it on her.
"Thanks for that." Maudie said with a weak smile.
"No problem." I said, showing a small smile back
I turned the AC off before leaving the room.
I'm going to make her some soup.
After making soup....
Maudie POV
The smell of tomato soup woke me up from my little nap.
I slowly opened my eyes and turned to the direction of where the aroma was coming from.
To my surprise I saw Ezra sitting on the floor next to my bed reading a math textbook.
Next to him was the bowl of tomato soup I had smelled.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes, I had to make sure I wasn't hallucinating.
"Your finally up. I made some tomato soup for you." Ezra said.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Ezra looked surprised.
"You don't remember anything?" Ezra asked.
I shook my head.
"Well-" Ezra said.
Ezra explained everything.
"Wow, I forgot all that?"
"Mhm, also I already told my parents I'm sleeping over. You should eat your soup now, it's getting c-" Ezra said.
"Wait," I said "Sleeping over?"
"Yeah." Ezra said. "Why, what's wrong?"
My heart started racing.
Ezra sleeping over?
I mean there was that one time he came to study with me for last year's final exams,
then we accidentally fell asleep on the dining table.
But this is way different.
"Nothing, it's just that you're a guy and I'm a girl and we're going to be sleeping in the same house. And we're alone, together." I said.
Ezra's eyes widened
I guess he realized how weird this was going to be.
We stared at each other for a while
Well looks like I messed it up.
"But, let's not mind that." I said, trying to clear up the tension in the room. "I'll have some of your tomato soup."
"S-sorry if it's not the best, I just looked around your kitchen and saw a ridiculous of tomatoes, so I decided to make tomato soup." Ezra said, placing the tray on my bed.
"My dad has been into planting lately, that's why there's a lot of tomatoes." I said.
"No wonder." Ezra said.
"Thank you." I said.
I brought the tray closer to me and picked up the spoon.
Not going to lie, this does look tasty.
And I'm talking about tomato soup.
Ezra POV
I watched Maudie's every move.
She looked down grabbing the spoon.
She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as she scooped up some tomato soup.
She brought it closer to her mouth and slurped it all up.
A/N Omg my mind after I wrote that o_O
The way she did it,
seemed graceful and innocent.
When the AC is not on, it really gets warm in here....
She turned her head to me and smiled.
"I love it." She said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes. Why are you so skeptical?" Maudie asked.
"I'm not, I'm just making sure." I said.
"Have you eaten?" Maudie asked.
"Yes, I have." I said.
"Good." Maudie said before shoving the spoon up her mouth
I watched her as she ate her soup.
The only sound in the room was her slurping the tomato soup up.
I don't know why, but I got lost in my thoughts just looking at her.
Her hazel eyes are so mesmerizing.
Not to mention those light pink plump lips, and that world changing smile that she has.
Her vibe and aura are so calming, I feel relaxed when I'm with her.
Her humor is magnificent too,
George Carlin's jokes are mediocre compared to Maudie's.
Her laugh too, just makes me smile every time.
I can go on and on why she's so amazing,
but I won't ever shut up because the list is endless.
Maudie turned her head to me.
"Let's watch a movie." Maudie smiled.
"Sure." I said, trying to hide my smile
Narrator POV
They indeed did watch a movie together.
They turned the lights off and turned Maudie's bed side lamp on.
There was an adrenaline rush running through their bodies as they watched the movie.
They obviously liked each other but none of them did or say anything.
And as clever and hormone powered teens,
They did absolutely nothing that night that would intrigue you.
Still, they had a sweet moment together
And we all know they have self control.
Not all romantic happy ever Afters need to end with a confirmed relationship or a kiss
