*Lincoln Memorial Hospital*

Sylvie and Ana were in the waiting room on of the higher levels. The blonde had finally convinced Matt to get himself checked out so the two women were waiting for him to get done with the neurologist.

The door suddenly opened and they both looked up just in time to see the male Captain walking through. The ladies stood up and went over, meeting him halfway there.

"I need to get an MRI. He said it's possible the repeat trauma has left behind permanent damage." Matt sighed and began heading towards the elevator with the two women following him every step of the way. "It could be I'm having temporal lobe seizures."

"Well, what would that mean?" Sylvie wondered.

"They can get progressively worse, turn into full body seizures. I'd have to quit the CFD, obviously." He muttered, rapidly pushing the button.

"Hey, Matt, slow down. He said it was possible, not that it was certain, right?" Ana asked in confirmation.

"Right." The male Captain nodded.

"So, we don't know anything yet." The brunette shook her head.

"Yeah, we'll get the MRI and go from there." Sylvie shrugged.

"It's gonna be okay, Matt, no matter what. We'll figure it out." Ana assured with a smile, not that they could see it behind her mask anyway.

He let out a breath and glanced between the two with a grateful look on his face however, the elevator dinged before he could say anything.

*Chief's Office: A Little While Later*

Matt finally decided to fill the older man and Kelly in about his current situation. Ana, of course, was sitting next to him throughout the entire thing.

"It could be nothing. We'll know more after these tests on Wednesday, but for the next couple of shifts, it's better if I don't see any action." The male Captain explained and Chief glanced over at the Lieutenant, skeptically. "I'm fine really. Just. . . playing it safe."

"Are you sure?" Kelly pressed.

"Sev, I promise, he's okay." Ana chuckled, softly.

"Well, I can cover for you on calls." Chief offered.

"And I'm happy to pitch in around the house, take some paperwork off your plate." Matt nodded. "I want to stay busy."

"Good." The older man cracked a small smile. "You just make sure you take care of yourself and listen to Ana when she tells you that you need to take care of yourself."

"Of course." He assured with a wink. "Thanks, Chief."

*Later That Night: Molly's Patio*

Ana, Matt, and Kelly were at one of the tables, having a few drinks.

"I feel like I haven't been a good friend." The Lieutenant shook his head. "You've been going through something and I should have picked up on it."

"That's on me." The male Captain sighed. "I made sure you didn't pick up on it."

"Why?" Kelly demanded. "You can tell me anything. You better know that by now."

"Yeah, I do, it's just. . . I grew up in a family full of secrets. I guess, it's- it's become a fallback for me, shutting people out, when things get too rough." Matt explained. "I'm working on it."

"Good." The Lieutenant nodded. "You shouldn't be going through something like this alone and Ana doesn't count."

The brunette threw back a Tequila shot and slammed the glass down in mock offense. Her Godson just rolled his eyes, fondly, in response.

"Actually, Sylvie found out, and she's been by my side every step of the way. She'll be at the MRI tomorrow." Matt admitted.

"Glad to hear it." Kelly smiled.

*Lincoln Memorial Hospital: The Next Day*

Ana and Sylvie were seated on either side of Matt, waiting for him to get called back.

". . .And I made a playlist for you. I'm texting it to you now." The blonde informed, tapping away on her cellphone. "Then you can just give it to the radiology tech, and he'll pipe it in through the headphones."

"You didn't have to do that." He murmured.

"Uh, don't thank me yet. It's mostly smooth jazz and a couple of Taylor Swift slow jams thrown in." She admitted and the brunette smiled a bit under her mask. "I read you're not supposed to listen to anything too stimulating."

"Thanks." The male Captain nodded.

"Matt Casey?" Someone called.

"That's me." He stood up along with the two women on either side of him.

"I'll be here. Have fun?" Sylvie smiled, nervously.

"I'll do my best." Matt chuckled, turning to Ana.

Nothing really needed to be said between the two and the brunette just gave him a quick hug before letting him go.

*A Few Days Later*

Matt and Ana were seated in a doctor's Office waiting for him to come with the results of the MRI. The two looked over when the door suddenly opened and Sylvie walked in.

"Sorry, I took so long. Any word?" She wondered.

"Nothing. Nurse seemed serious when I gave her my name. Brought me right in." He muttered.

"I told you, that's probably nothing." Ana assured.

"Yeah, she's right." Sylvie agreed, sitting down just as the doctor walked in with an iPad.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." He apologized, taking a seat at his desk. "Matt, in the accident where you hit your head, which side of your body did you fall on?"

"Uh. . ."

"His left." Ana answered for him and he shot her a grateful look in return.

"Mm-hmm. And did you have any shoulder pain afterwards?" The doctor inquired.

"Uh, yeah, but it's mostly gone." Matt nodded.

"Makes sense now. The weakness on your left side is most likely due to the shoulder injury you're recovering from, not from an injury in the brain." He explained, showing them the iPad. "Your MRI is clean."

"But what about the headaches and the tunnel vision?" Ana wondered, hoping she already knew the answer.

"Most likely caused by post-concussion migraines. It's common with a head injury like yours." The doctor assured. "It'll go away on its own. In the meantime, we'll get you some migraine medication to manage it."

"Uh, so I'm- I'm clear to work?" Matt asked in confirmation, almost as if he were completely shocked by the news.

"Absolutely." He nodded, standing back up. "I'll talk to Jenny out front, and she'll have your prescription ready for you. It's always nice to deliver good news."

He left and the three other occupants of the room stood up immediately.

"Matt, you're okay." Sylvie grinned, pulling him into a hug.

He laughed and picked the blonde up, spinning her around which made her laugh as well. They seperated and stared at each other for a little longer than necessary. Ana, being the cop that she was, smirked behind her mask when she picked up on it.

"Time to go to, Molly's." Matt chuckled, turning to the brunette with a warm gaze.

"I told you everything would be all right." The older woman pointed out, jokingly, and pulled him in for a hug of her own.

"I think we got some celebrating to do." He smiled, separating from Ana and turning to face Sylvie again.

"I was thinking the same thing, yes." She nodded, happily.

"Right." Matt laughed again and grabbed his jacket before opening the door for her.

The brunette shook her head with a small smile and followed the two lovebirds out of the room.

A/N I hope you all enjoyed! Till Monday!
