Nhazul Hatake is the main protagonist of Pokémon Fan story: Obligated Ambitions. He is a 16 year-old Pokémon Trainer from Vaniville Town in the Kalos Region. Originally his goal was to become a world renowned Pokémon Photographer, but that soon changed after an accident that caused the death of his older sister, Nhazul threw away his dream for the sake of his sister's goal of becoming a Pokemon Master.
History
As a young child, Nhazul had an kind, calm, gentle, shy, and passive personality. He also had an interest and fascination with Pokémon, but due to him having a fear of them as well, it prevented him from truly interacting with them. Due this this fear, Nhazul struggled to make any type friends, but this changed after going to a Rhyhorn race with his family, which resulted in meeting his childhood best friend, Serena.
Due to his fear, Nhazul struggled and was uncertain about what paths or careers to pursue in life, as at the time, he expressed no ambition towards becoming a full‐time Pokémon Trainer like his family. But after a conversation with his older sister, Aya who he adored, she told him exactly what he needed to hear. " There's many different kinds of relationships between humans and Pokémon.
How you want to interact with Pokémon and what kind of relationship you wish to have is entirely up to you." Hearing this inspired Nhazul to become a Pokémon Photographer, allowing him to interact with Pokémon in his own way, a goal he worked hard towards, wanting to be world renowned photographer and have his photos enjoyed by everyone, being taught by a famous photographer in Kalos.
But due to his over zealousness towards this goal, Nhazul went to a cave within Santalune Forest, he was told multiple times not to go into due to being unstable. As he took his pictures, the cave indeed began to cave in, resulting in Nhazul being knocked unconscious by falling debris. Rushing to his aid, Aya rescued him, but in exchange for own life, as she was crushed to death.
Upon finding out Aya had died, due to his stupidity and stubbornness, Nhazul became mentally scarred and traumatized. Stricken by grief and Survivors guilt. Shutting himself off from the world, his family and Serena, believing wholeheartedly he murdered his sister and robbed her of achieving her dreams, which was to surpass her family and become a Pokémon Master.
Not wanting Aya's dream to die, Nhazul completely abandoned his own dream of becoming a renowned Pokémon Photographer, in favor of inheriting Aya's dream, as a proclaimed obligation. And so, he set off on his own journey with his Eevee, Gible and Aya's Greninja to achieve her dream, leaving only a note of his decision , much to the displeasure of Serena and his family, especially his father, Inei.
During his time on his journey, Nhazul had broken out of his shy and passive sides to his personality, in exchange for a very determined, level headed, confident, brave, enthusiastic, passionate, calm, collected and most of all, very sarcastic personality. Although, still kept his caring and compassionate side as well. But Nhazul can easily be provoked if pushed far enough.
Due to the trauma of causing his sister's death, Nhazul has a hard time opening up to others, as he doesn't like to talk about his feelings and his past, as he's only over openly upped to either his Eevee, Garchomp, Greninja, Latias or Serena, due to them knowing the pain he's felt. But during his time in Alola, Nhazul does begin open up about his past with his friends and Pokémon whenever the topic comes up, though it is only if he needs someone to talk to or if he felt like talking about it, since it either reflects a mistake of his or it makes him feels comfortable sharing to anyone who is closest to him.
Due to his PTSD, Nhazul has also developed a fear of caves, and will try to avoid them at all costs, but if there's no other option, he will resolve himself to enter one.
Through only the few years of his journey, Nhazul has become a Champion level Pokémon trainer. Despite this, Nhazul is very humble when it comes to his abilities, and will not openly talk or brag about them. This is especially when it comes to his status as The Kanto/Johto Pokémon League Champion and heritage as the son of two of the greatest Kalos Champions, nephew of the current Sinnoh Champion. This is due to wanting to keep his reputation a secret from anyone, as he wanted to continue his journey as a Trainer, not as a regional Pokémon League Champion or the child of Legendary Pokémon Trainers. Only a few individuals know this side of Nhazul, and he will become visible annoyed and aggravated when it's brought up, especially in front of some who doesn't know. But Nhazul isn't above using his strength to humble overly confident and cocky trainers, showing them the difference in strength.
Skills
Over the years on his journey, Nhazul has picked up a few abilities and skills to help him.
Battling and Tactics: Nhazul's battling tactics skill is, as like other Pokémon Trainers, using type advantages against his opponents, but sometimes, he uses Pokémon that have a type disadvantage. Nhazul methods of battling can be overwhelming his opponents by a combination of moves using physical and special kinds of moves. One of Nhazul's signature traits is his adaptability and creativity, as he can easily adapt to most situations, even when they aren't in his favor.
Athleticism and Endurance: Due to training his body within the Orange Islands Nhazul has developed a very athletic, agile, physically toned body. He's able to climb most surfaces with little difficulty, run long distances, mimic Greninja's movements like jumping and flipping, swing on vines, carry heavy loads, and swim. Nhazul can also survive Pokémon attacks for a long period of time without taking too much damage, although it depends on the situation.
Cooking and Pokémon care: Due to learning from multiple Nurse Joys on his journey, Nhazul has become a great cook and has an easy time preparing meals for himself and his Pokémon. In addition, he's also learned how to properly care and take care of all of his Pokémon needs, such as grooming, cleaning, their diets and how to treat different kinds of injuries.
Aura: Much like an Aura Guardian, Nhazul has the ability to sense and control Aura, due this training with Riley.
Synchro Evolution: Nhazul has shown the ability unique to use Synchro Evolution with Greninja , a form comparable to that of Mega Evolution.
Z- Moves: Nhazul during his time in Alola has even demonstrated great skills in utilizing Z-Moves, very strong and powerful attacks that Pokémon can gain access to. Nhazul currently has access to "Normal Z, Dragon Z, Water Z, Flying Z, Fighting Z, Eevee Z, Ghost Z, Dark Z and Solgaleo Z" Z Crystals.

Family
Shirona Hatake: Since Shirona is Nhazul's mother, they have a healthy, loving relationship, although it does run into rocky spots at times, such as when Nhazul decided to leave on a journey without their knowledge to achieve Aya's dream. Despite this, Shirona was very happy to see him after so many years, glad to see him in good health. Originally wanting to bring him home, upon seeing Nhazul's determination in achieving Aya's dream, she gave up on the idea of bringing him home, allowing him to continue his journey, asking his Pokémon to keep looking after him.
Inei Hatake: Originally, having a very close relationship with each other, the death of Aya resulted in it becoming extremely strained. Due to multiple factors, Nhazul shutting himself off from him and everyone else, running away from home, abandoning his own dream for the sake of someone else's, and his unwillingness to give it up. All of these factors, made Inei become cold and distant towards Nhazul. This coldness towards him, has made Nhazul come to the conclusion that his father hates him, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Inei still loves and has always loved Nhazul, and wants what's best for him, such as wanting him to come home, and not abandon the dream he was working so hard towards for the sake of another, a dream that's only an obligation. Despite caring about him, Inei has a very brutal and unorthodox way of showing it.
Aya Hatake: Not much is known about Aya, only that she was an extremely skilled Trainer and aimed to surpass her family in terms of strength, along with becoming a Pokémon Master. As Nhazul's older sister, she loved and cared about him dearly, and the same can be said for him, as she's the one who helped him find his dream of Pokémon Photography. Her love for Nhazul is so great, she willingly gave up not only her dream, but her own life to save him from a cave in, which left Nhazul mentally scarred and traumatized. Only after years later, upon reuniting with him in Tapu Fini's mist, did she help him one final time. Helping him find closure from her death, help him and Greninja perfect Synchro Evolution and fully inherit her dream, truly taking it as his own not just an obligation, he felt he needed to do.
Margo Hatake: Not much is known about Margo or her past, only that her original home burned down, resulting in the death of her father and her being taken in by Inei and Shirona, treating her as their own daughter. Upon meeting Nhazul, she was openly friendly and happy to meet him, having heard many stories from Shirona and Cynthia, and hoped he would see her a little sister, due to her seeing him as the older brother she's always wanted, which he happily accepted.
Cynthia: Being the older sister of Shirona, Cynthia is very close to her nephew, and is very attached to him. Cynthia was the one who gifted Nhazul his Garchomp as a Gible, in hopes of helping him get over his fear, but had no such luck. Upon learning Nhazul had left and gone missing, she dropped everything to immediately go help look for him, but with no luck. Over the years, Cynthia would hear from multiple sources of Nhazul's accomplishments, and would be surprised to see him in Unova by complete happenstance and amazed to see his new found strength first hand. Upon confronting him, and seeing he had no willingness of stopping his goal, she gave him a hug, glad to see he's in good health, before giving him a head start, before informing his parents. When visiting him in Alola along with the rest of his family, she congratulated him as a fellow Champion, upon learning he defeated Lance and became the Kanto/Johto Champion, much to his embarrassment.
Important Relationships
Serena: Serena is Nhazul's childhood best friend, having met after one of Serena's mom's races. The two quickly became quick friends, and would always be side by side when they were children. Upon learning Nhazul's sister had died, Serena attempted everything she could to help comfort him, but he completely shut her out, too filled with grief and guilt. Serena was completely heartbroken to find out that Nhazul ran away from home, to achieve Sonia's dream. Serena wasn't heartbroken due to Nhazul leaving, but not telling her he was going to leave, feeling neglected, because they were best friends and were supposed to confide in each other. Though separate for many years, their relationship was still as strong as ever, despite the two bickering with each other occasionally.
Serena is the only person, who isn't a family member who can truly understand Nhazul and how he feels, especially with the death of his sister, being she saw first hand how emotionally scarred and damaged Nhazul was after everything happened, which is why she was so adamant in him seeing Aya within Tapu Fini's mist, so he could gain closure, but this resulted in a brief fallout between the two, but they were very quick to make up.
Nhazul's relationship with Serena grew even deeper as they would give each other helpful advice and supported each other during their time in Alola.
Serena has shown to have a massive crush on Nhazul, and gets pretty jealous when Lana is close to hin, due to her having a crush on him too, seeing her as a love rival.
Lana: Nhazul and Lana share a very close friendship since they were classmates at the Pokémon School in Alola and Nhazul's first friend within Alola. However, although they're friends, Nhazul gets annoyed with Lana's jokes at times, as she's constantly trying to trick him, but never truly had any disagreements with her. During Nhazul's time in Alola, he and Lana went on multiple adventures together, although they were sometimes joined by Serena and Mallow. Nhazul and Lana would also help each other in various tasks or provide assistance whenever their Pokémon were separated from them.
Upon finding out about Nhazul's deceased older sister, Lana immediately felt sympathy for Nhazul, due to knowing how the pain feels, due to Mallow's mother dying.
Lana like Serena has shown to have a massive crush on Nhazul and often gets very embarrassed when someone, mostly her little sisters tease her about being Nhazul's girlfriend.
Lana has openly stated to Nhazul, that she's very jealous of his and Serena's relationship, stating she wishes she could be as close to him as her. Nhazul was quick to explain to her that he and Serena are best friends and this bond is only shared between the two of them. Just like her and Mallow's bond could only be shared between them. Originally saddened, Nhazul was quick to point out that, he and her shared a special bond to, one only between them, making her smile and feel better, knowing she and Nhazul had their own special bond unique to only them.
Lillie: Lillie sees Nhazul as her best friend, and possibly an older brother figure , as they were classmates at the Pokémon School. Much like with Serena, the two would often be there to help cheer each other up whenever one of them was feeling down. Nhazul would go through great lengths to protect Lillie from danger. Nhazul was a big help for Lillie as he never gave up on her and helped her with many things, including getting through her fear of touching Pokémon. Also, Nhazul helped Lillie and Gladion save their friends and Lusamine from Ultra Space, earning her appreciation even more. In addition, Nhazul and Lillie share a lot of things in common, including a strong love for Pokémon and meeting new Pokémon, and a willingness to help others. The two didn't have many disagreements, only one being when Nhazul was avoiding her, feeling guilty feeling responsible for her not being able touch Pokémon again, but she was very quick to dismiss that notion. Nhazul would stand up for Lillie and she has done the same for him.
Ash: First meeting at the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup in Unova, where they battled one another in the finals. The two would meet once again years later in the Alola Region. Over time, the two formed a very strong friendship and rivalry with each other, something over time akin to brothers, due their time spent together under the same roof. Nhazul can be competitive with Ash at times. Ash even helped Nhazul understand how to use Synchro Evolution more effectively. Despite Ash's idiotic nature at times, Nhazul can trust him to have his back in a battle.
Professor Kukui: While attending the Pokémon School, Nhazul resided at Professor Kukui's house along with Ash, a family friend of his family. The two have an extremely strong, familial bond. In fact, their relationship is almost akin to a father and son, despite them being more akin to an non blood related uncle and nephew. Since they spent a lot of time together outside of the Pokémon School and enjoy each other's company. Kukui at the time didn't know Nhazul was avoiding his parents and mistakenly invited them to an open house, which resulted in a brief altercation with Nhazul and Inei, but it was settled quickly. Kukui often compares Nhazul to his late sister Aya, due to their similarities when it comes to Pokémon battling. Kukui is also against the brutal and harsh treatment Inei gives Nhazul and will openly chastise him for it.

Obtained: Willingly stayed with him after protecting her from a wild Tyranitar and later willingly captured.
Bio: Nhazul first met Eevee after the funeral of his late older sister Aya. Upon running into the forest distraught. Eevee approached a crying Nhazul in an attempt to comfort him, but was quickly interrupted by a wild Tyranitar that attempted to attack him. Protecting Nhazul from it, and as a result, Eevee ended up getting badly hurt, and not standing to see another person or Pokémon be hurt because of him, Nhazul conquered his fear of touching Pokémon to save her.
After recovering up, Nhazul returned Eevee to the Forest the following day, but after protecting it from Tyranitar, Eevee decided she wanted to stay with Nhazul. Upon learning of his deceased older sister, Eevee would act as emotional support for him, and became extremely worried about him when he's feeling saddened, and would do whatever it could to make him feel better. Despite her small size and being only an Eevee, she's is one of Nhazul's most dependable and strongest partners. She's able to hold her own against powerful opponents and even defeat Mega Evolutions. Eevee played a significant role in Nhazul's battle against Lance to help him defeat him and became Champion.
Eevee is curious, smart, friendly, and can also be a bit spoiled, when she's with Nhazul, often pouting at him when annoyed by him, but this only goes to show just how much the two truly love each other.
Eevee much like Ash's Pikachu doesn't like being in her Poké Ball one bit She prefers to ride on Nhazul's head or shoulder.
Eevee also has a massive sweet touch and loves sweets, especially her favorite thing to eat, which is pancakes.

Bio: Originally belonging to Aya, the late older sister of Nhazul, Greninja agreed to travel with Nhazul on his journey to accomplish his original trainer's dream, after Nhazul begged it to come with him, feeling Nhazul has the potential to do so. Throughout the 6 years traveling with Nhazul, Greninja tended to act like a mentor/big brother role, keeping Nhazul on track and helping him improve his skills through his journey. Throughout the 6 years, Nhazul and Greninja's bond grew deeper and deeper, through their shared desire to accomplish Aya's dream, so much so they were able to achieve unique transformation, Syncro Evolution. Through out their time in Alola he and Nhazul worked hard to master the form, but were having difficulties achieving it's perfected form. Both Nhazul and Greninja soon learned the problem laid with Nhazul himself, due to him having doubts and insecurities, not knowing if he was good enough to be Greninja's partner. Through words of encouragement from his late sister, Nhazul let go of his doubts, allowing him and Greninja to finally perfect Synchro Evolution.
Though normally very cool, calm, collected he can get very serious when he comes to situations. Greninja can also be provoked if anyone puts Nhazul in harms way, or disrespects him or Aya. Through his combined Journeys with Aya and Nhazul, Greninja has over 10 years worth experience and is easily Nhazul's strongest Pokémon, so much so Greninja has been acknowledged by the Shiny Tapu Koko for his strength.
Greninja also seems to be the leader of both Nhazul and Aya's Pokémon, due to him easily breaking up the fight between them, and them openly listening to him.

Obtained: Gifted to him by Cynthia as a Gible
Bio: Originally gifted to him by Cynthia as a Gible, Cynthia wanted to help Nhazul conquer his fear of touching Pokémon, which unfortunately didn't happen at the time. Despite not being able to touch it, Gible still loved Nhazul and respected his boundaries. Upon his sister's death, Gible was one of the main Pokémon to comfort Nhazul the best way it could. Upon running away, Gible was adamant on going with Nhazul, wanting to help him accomplish his dream of inheriting his sister's dream.
Garchomp's loyalty to Nhazul is to point he was willing to do anything to help him accomplish his goal. Despite his kind hearted nature, Garchomp loves to battle and hates to lose. When faced with a powerful opponent, Garchomp has a habit of smirking with excitement. Through it's 6 year journey, Garchomp became significantly stronger and tougher, displaying a much more ferocious battling style, having beaten Iris's pseudo-legendary Dragonite with minimal effort, drew with Kukui's Incenaroar, who is one of the strongest Pokémon in the Alola Region, and defeating all three of Nanu's Pokémon during Nhazul's Grand Trial single handed.
Garchomp's strength is comparable to that of Cynthia's Garchomp and is considered Nhazul's second Ace Pokémon, due to it's overwhelming strength, second only to Greninja.
Garchomp has also forged a strong bond with Ash's Torracat, having become a mentor and a rival towards him, able to draw out Torracat's determination and fierceness, so much so it pushed it to evolve.

Lucario

Obtained: Caught while in the Orange Islands as a Riolu
Bio: Nhazul and Lucario didn't have the greatest of friendships when starting out. Upon hearing a rumor of a rare Pokémon attacking trainers while on the Orange Islands, Nhazul came to discover it was a wild Riolu to blame. Upon defeating it in battle, Nhazul went on to catch it. After being captured, Riolu was extremely disrespectful to Nhazul, to the point where it would constantly attack him, was arrogant, overconfident and extremely prideful.
It is later revealed the reason for its actions is because Riolu was a victim of Pokémon Pouching, which resulted in a hatred towards humans. During Nhazul's time on the Orange Islands, Riolu abandoned Nhazul and left on it's own, but quickly ran into the Poucher that originally captured it, Viren, who mercilessly beat it down, before being saved by Nhazul and his Pokémon.
Completely shocked to see Nhazul save him, despite the way he'd treated him, made Lucario put his trust in Nhazul and accepted him as his trainer. Through his time at the Orange League , Aura training with Riley, the Johto and Kanto Leagues, Lucario has grown significantly more powerful, even possessing a special Aura ability known as "Aura Storm", which increases it's speed and power, the less stamina it has. The increase in power is so great, it's said to be comparable to it's Mega Evolved form.
As a Riolu, after befriending Nhazul after gaining his trust, Riolu become very friendly and supportive and like Eevee would for the most part stay out of his Pokéball in favor of walking around or riding on Nhazul's shoulders, much to Eevee's annoyance as the two would constantly argue on who ride on Nhazul's shoulder.
For most part, as a Lucario, he can be very stoic and serious at times, but he's shown to have kept his very friendly and supportive with everyone around him.
Lucario has even sparked a rivalry with both Ash and Gladion's Lycanrocs.

Latias

(Latias is larger then normal, 1.96m (6′03″) And Nhazul is able to ride on her.
Obtained: Befriended and caught at Alto Mare ( City of Water)
Bio: Nhazul befriended Latias after saving her from Team Rocket operatives. Latias was shown to have a complete trust in Nhazul, so much so she took him to the Secret Garden, where she and her brother Latios lived. And also being the one she sought for help when Latios was kidnapped.
Upon Latios's death, Nhazul stayed with Latias to comfort her, due to understanding the pain she was feeling, having lost an older sibling as well. That fact alone is why Latias and Nhazul's bond grew even deeper, and why she can be very clingy to him at times.
Upon Nhazul's departure from Alto Mare, Latias not wanting to be apart, wanted to stay with Nhazul and join his team. Upon getting the blessing from the care takers of the Secret Garden, Latias was allowed joined Nhazul's team, which he happily accepted.
Upon joining Nhazul's team, Latias originally kept her very docile personality. Due to her original dislike of fighting and being easily scared off by any conflict or anything attempting to cause harm to her. Due to this, Latias did not partake in any battles for a good while of Nhazul's Johto Journey.
But after an incident that got Nhazul badly hurt, due to her fear of battling, terrified of losing Nhazul, the same way she lost her brother, due to her weakness, she worked up the courage to battle and defend Nhazul.
After the incident, Latias wanted to battle more and become stronger, so she could protect Nhazul and never lose anyone she loves ever again.
Due to Nhazul's training, Latias has become a powerful Pokémon, one which her brother would be proud of.

Silvally

Bio: Much like Lucario, Nhazul and Silvally didn't have the best of starts to their friendship. Prior to their meeting, Silvally was the 1st artificial Pokemon created by Faba of the Aether Foundation to be an "Anti-UB Fighting life-form". Codenamed "Beast Killer" Being the first, Silvally was the subject to all the harsh experiments, which made it develop a hatred towards humans. Due to it's hostile nature, Faba was forced to lock it away in favor of creating a second Silvally, with a more docile nature, which belongs to Gladion.
After helping rescue Lusamine from Ultra Space, Gladion gifted Nhazul Silvally as a Type: Null, as thanks for his help with helping his family, as well as believing it would be in the best care with him. Upon their first meeting, Silvally aggressively attacked him, resulting in it scarring his face. But due to Nhazul's kind heartedness, he was able to calm it down and stand down.
Over time, Silvally began to open up more and more to Nhazul, due to him being caring and understanding to it's hatred and not resenting it for attacking him. Through it's fascination with star gazing, slowly, Silvally started trust Nhazul more and see him as a friend, as he would even wake up in the middle of the night, to star gaze with it when requested, even befriending Eevee and Latias in the process. Through Nhazul's help, Silvally started to let go of it's hatred towards humans, and the moments that solidified Silvally's complete trust in Nhazul was when he protected it from Guzzlord multiple times. Upon seeing Nhazul nearly killed by Guzzlord, it proceeded to shatter it's Control Mask in order to rescue him.

When Nhazul ran into the forest after Aya's funeral, Glaceon along with Aya's other Pokémon refused to assist Greninja in looking for him. Although not conformed (to my knowledge at least) Volo bears a striking resemblance to Cynthia. And given how Nhazul is the nephew of Cynthia and the son of her younger sister, that would make him a descendant of Volo.
#7: Nhazul and Latias's bond
Nhazul and Latias have a unique bond that they share together. This is due to the fact that they both have a deceased older sibling.
Nhazul's older sister, Sonia
Latias's older brother, Latios.
Due to the fact that Nhazul was the only person who could sympathize with Latias, after her brother's death, and Latias could sympathize with him for his older sister, the two tended to lift each other up when they felt saddened about each of their siblings.
Nhazul owning the Latias from Pokémon Heroes was also a hint towards Nhazul's past.
#8: Eevee is Nhazul's version of Ash's Pikachu
Nhazul is supposed to represent the Eevee route in a way, like the let's Go games. Which is why Eevee's move set mirrors Ash's Pikachu in a way. Extreme Speed/Quick Attack. Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt. They both use Iron Tail. And Copycat is Eevee's gimmick move, like Electroweb is to Pikachu. Eevee is also female, while Pikachu is male. Both tend to ride on Nhazul and Ash's shoulder, they both hate being in their Pokéballs, both are incredibly strong for Pokémon of their size and both have an unbreakable bond with their trainers.
